I left a message at the number provided in the web listing, and received a call back the next morning. Sal was very professional, charismatic, and straightforward. After viewing the apartment later that week, he did everything he could to make sure our application was perfect. We had some trouble acquiring documented proof of my boyfriend's income/credit/tax status, since he's self-employed in the construction field, but we were able to work things out in the end. Sal works very quickly and thoroughly - and I was especially impressed by his frequent texts and calls to update and support us throughout the entire process. Yesterday, the co-op board called us to schedule an interview for next week and it's pretty much guaranteed that we're going to be approved. :)

Being that it was our first time renting, we weren't sure what to expect from the apartments, agents, overall experience. These guys seemed to know the area well with some of the agents living in the neighborhood and knowing local shops, restaurants, etc. Jessica originally showed us the apartment we ended up renting along with 1 or 2 other similar units and while we were prepared to move forward on our unit, there were a number of repairs that we pointed out would need to be taken care of before our move. Fast forward a week or two and after being reassured by Jessica and Filomena that all repairs had been completed (LIE), we signed the lease and moved in. Imagine our surprise when we get the keys, move in and none of the repairs have been made. These were not small repairs by the way. Imagine moving in to your first apartment and having NO COLD WATER in the shower and sink! In addition, the apartment had no smoke/carbon monoxide detectors (how is this even possible in a modern co-op?) and the window in the kitchen would not fully close meaning we had an ant and insect issue (I eventually cauked myself and sent the landlord the bill). The cold water issue was due to the pipes being fully rusted, and they had to be replaced after we had already moved in. The entire process took a month and involved us having to take days off from work since the maintenance crew at the co-op works an extremely convenient 9-5 with an hour or two lunch thrown in (much love to the Union!) and needed to coordinate with an outside plumber to complete the job. We were assured that these issues had been taken care of before moving in (LIE). The agents that we worked with were incompetent and unprofessional. They were no where to be found once I reached out to complain about the cold water issue, not surprising as they had already collected their commission and moved on without a care in the world. I have told friends who are looking in Queens to avoid these guys at all costs and I suggest you do the same.

Well I wasn't going to write another review but since Barak from Blue Egg replied to my last…read morereview, I felt it was necessary that I point out the inaccuracies of his comment to further illustrate the level of unprofessionalism and total shadiness of Blue Egg. Barak has claimed that they did not violate the lease by entering the apartment without giving us notice. Fortunately, I still have a copy of my old lease and I'm attaching a photo of the section that clearly states "Further, during the last (3) months of the Term of this Lease, Landlord may enter the Unit to show the Unit to prospective tenants, upon giving 24 hour notice." UPON GIVING 24 HOUR NOTICE And I am also surprised that Barak claims that Blue Egg doesn't allow people to apply remotely because when I found the unit on Craigslist, the ad specifically said they work with people who are currently living out of state. That's actually one of the reasons why I applied and throughout the process, the agents assured me that it was no problem to complete the process remotely. It seems like Blue Egg relies on that because it makes it easier to take advantage of people. Also, the pictures I saw on the ad were of common spaces in the unit and when I requested photos of the room, and I even requested dimensions, the agents kept saying they would send them soon but of course, they never did. Kate would tell me that Elizabeth would send them, Elizabeth said Kaye would send them. It was either a conspiracy or total lack of communication but both are unacceptable. I understand that no company is perfect but Blue Egg does not take responsibility for their mistakes and instead, they put the blame on the clients. Also, I don't even know who Barak is so I'm not sure why he is claiming to know so much about my specific situation since he wasn't even a part of it. Your move, Blue Egg.
