A very much improved food menu compared to in years past. Outdoor patio is set with high sun shades and natural tree coverings. A few large group cushioned couches available. Service is courteous and professional. Wine is delicious. Afterward, a stroll by the koi pond and through the lavender farm to walk off the buzz. Service can be slow at times but the quality of experience at J Bell is one of our favorites when visiting the Yakima wine valley. Five stars, but only for the wine itself. Whenever I go wine tasting, I always travel with a case that holds 12 bottles, so I have to be very selective. If I leave a vineyard with a bottle, that is usually a very good sign. I left J Bell with 4. Of the 12 vineyards we visited, this tied for first place as far as the quality of the wine. Their tasting fees and bottle prices are very reasonable, ranging from $25 to about $100. The service was pretty abysmal, although they were quite busy. And the outdoor furniture needs a serious cleaning, or else a complete replacement. There is an Italian restaurant on site (Il Grasso) that made us really hungry. I can't speak for the food, but it sure did smell good. read more

Loved our experience here! The host was pleasant and informative. We enjoyed walking the gardens even though the lavender is not yet in bloom. Jbell is the quintessential wine country experience, for a small family run company. Upon entering you will pass neatly planted rows of lavender. The orchards right next to the parking area are currently growing Pears. The tasting area has outdoor fire pits and shaded trees, a fish pond, and rustic Italian vibes. Jbell has partnered with a local restaurant to provide Italian fare to pair with the wines. My favorites are the red wines, absolutely full bodied. But try the rosé. This place was phenomenal! The ambiance was sooo great! The service was amazing. We had a ton of questions which they happily answered. We started with coffee.... Yes they do have coffee! It was strong and delicious. We eat "family" style and order several different items and share them all. None of us had any complaints about the food. Not one. It was all so delicious! We were pleasantly satisfied with everything. The food is prepped and made right there outside in front of us. We toured the amazing grounds and saw all the lavender! It's absolutely beautiful. We got a flight of wines which were all delicious! They are made with no sugar! We met the wine maker and she was amazing and sooo knowledgeable and had so much to tell and teach us. All of the staff was very attentive and continued to make sure we were taken care of and had everything we needed. It was an amazing experience. They have live music and a huge yard to run and play. A fire pit to sit and sip some wine. They also had a couple beer options and the most delicious non alcoholic lavender lemonade! I absolutely recommend going and checking it out. read more

My family and I went here for "brunch", which BTW, does not start until noon!! When we called to make the reservation, no one mentioned this either, when we made the reservation for 11am. Half of our party had to leave, because they couldn't wait for an hour after we arrived just to order food. Three people in the party ordered the eggs florentine, and each person described it as eating a salt lick it was so salty. And even though half the party left, they still tried to charge the 20% gratuity for a larger party. Oh yeah, there was also a hair in the spinach. I gave two stars because our kids loved the poi fish and chickens. read more

Went to jbells tonight to check out the new menu and see what's up with the wood fired oven!! Had the steak and it did not disappoint Yakima valley needs more fine dining options and in this particular vinyard the surroundings make it perfect. Chef Shawn and chef Lara were geniuses and the depth of flavors were off the hook! Definitely would recommend it to everyone. The price points are right for the meals you receive. Oh and don't forget to give Glenn a hard time while you are there. His sense of humor as well as the whole teams makes the night more fun!! read more

My partner and I travelled to JB Cellars over the weekend and I wasn't a big fan of it at all. Wine was alright, and food menu hardly had any good options. No one really cared to provide any guidance when entering. Biggest disappointment was seeing how the couple next to my partner and I, were getting a significantly greater amount of wine to taste while tasting the same flight my partner and I had gotten. We really wanted to love this place, as it was a beautiful winery but we didn't feel too welcomed and we definitely won't be returning to this place because of the bad atmosphere and poor customer service. read more

What impressed me about this place is that the owner and vintner said he was entirely self taught. And the wine was good. Started as a hobby, now a business. They have an incredibly beautiful lavender field in the making. The rose was the best of the bunch. The tasting was outdoors, a nice touch. We visited this winery in the summer and absolutely love the wine and the winery itself.They have some great reds specifically the Syrah and Cab Frank( yes, Frank). I also really liked the Rosè as well, which was perfect on a hot summer day! The Viognier was my favorite white but you really can't go wrong with any wine choice from this place. They are all great quality wines and a great addition to my wine collection (if I can stop myself from drinking them, that is). Another thing I really liked about this place was the atmosphere. The couple who owns the place is super nice and the tasting room itself had a cool vibe and nice decoration. They had an inside tasting room and chairs and tables outside where you could get a glass of wine and sit outside and just relax which was really nice. I felt like we could take our time and actually enjoy the wines which was wonderful! I will definitely be back next time I am in the Yakima Valley! read more

It appears my last review was deleted. I've had 2 unpleasant experiences at J Bell Cellars. Most importantly the more recent visit I brought my cousin from out of town and we had tickets for the first live music event. It was supposed to be The Olson Bros but wasn't indicated until later that part of the band couldn't make it. I requested a refund and they denied without apology. When we arrived the guy taking tickets and greeting people was very nice. We went to the food table and they were already out of food (Except Asparagus) at 7pm when the event started. The lady at the table was completely ignoring us and finally the same guy from earlier came to help us. We asked if we could try any wine before buying and they said no. We understand this is probably different for this kind of event. The only option was buying an expensive bottle of wine we haven't tried. It tasted worse then cheap wine from the grocery store. The band sounded like drunk karaoke and it was ridiculous. (I've heard the original band many times and they are good. ) My cousin wasn't having a good time so we left about 20 mins in. I've been trying over and over to contact the mangers\owners and they just tell me no refund. I'm trying to give feedback so things can hopefully be improved. It doesn't appear they they care about their customers too much. I absolutely do not recommend them anymore. read more

Arrived a little after 6 on a Saturday in July. They had the fire pit going, delicious bottles of wine for the tasting, generous portions of BBQ, and a jazz duo performing on the patio. We shared a bottle of the Syrah and listened to smooth jazz as the sunset over the lavender fields. It was lovely. Though we only drove 2 hours from Seattle, it felt like we had landed in Provence. To hold a live music jazz event with 80+ people and zero regulation is crazy. Cover is honor system. The oven is a one pizza operation. There needs to be a ticket system or a way to make reservations for a table and have better expectations for this location to serve the customers that attend. The pizza/food that is highly advertised was never delivered. We arrived 15 mins (5:45pm) early to find no table/seats. The staff were extremely pleasant and friendly moving things around to accommodate. We ended up getting a bar height barrel and chairs. We ordered pizza upon arrival (5:55pm maybe) and after two bottles of wine, 2.5 hours of waiting never received it. Torture. When ordering the pizza there was no 'hey this is going to take awhile' when ordering wine there was no 'are you ordering pizza, the wait time is a bit long'. After two hours (8:07pm) (trying to be empathetic and enjoy the atmosphere bc why ruin a good night over pizza) waiting we finally asked how much longer 'really soon' is answer... 20 minutes later... nothing ()so we asked for refund and they acted like it was no big deal. Out the door at 8:30pm. Maybe even just find your threshold and advertise you serve the first x # of customers food and thereafter is either done or not guaranteed. Lovely, lovely venue, great wine and decent music but don't count on being fed as advertised. Overall the staff are great, the enthusiasm is there but the execution is a shortfall. We left just feeling disrespected, disappointed and hungry. Side note: while all this occurred the owner was sitting back eating his pizza drinking wine oblivious or ignoring the fact that half his customers are starving and irritated. No apologies. JBell cellars was the fourth stop on our wine tasting tour in Yakima Valley, and our final stop in Zillah. Perhaps we arrived a little bit late in the day, because we were almost the only customers. JBell has a large outdoor seating area and what looks like a BBQ mini-restaurant, so imagine they have some pretty great events. The tasting fee a JBell is $10, with the fee being refunded with a purchase. Since it was our fourth stop, we decided to share one tasting. All of the wines were quite good, although the Grenache really stood out to us as our clear favorite. Our server was friendly and gave us some great recommendations of other places in the area to check out. The only negative about JBell is that they did not have an actual bathroom, which is strange considering they had a fairly large tasting room and outdoor seating area. They only had a port-a-potty. If you are wine tasting in Zillah, you should make sure to visit JBell Cellars. read more

This was a great find. We met the owner and his wife, who were very nice and welcoming. They had 4 reds and a Rose' for us to try. The reds were big and heavy but very good. My favorite was the Cab Franc (they spelled it Cab Frank) which was delicious. Definitely recommend it to anyone that like reds. read more

We really enjoyed our visit to this winery. Tasting was held in a nice outdoor space with tables and chairs, where you could sit and have the wines brought to you, or you could stand at the bar. The winemaker served us a nice mix of reds, 2 whites, and a rose. In the end, we decided to take home a bottle of fume blanc. We decided to trek a bit further from the tri-cities to try some of the wine other parts of Yakima valley had to offer. One of the members of our group way intrigued by this place because of their lavender (and I think she was secretly hoping for some lavender inspired wine, haha). This place is pretty new, and the tasting room is very casual in what looks like a garage/small warehouse. Inside we were served the 3 wines that they made this year. They just make the wine, don't grow the grapes. And the wine was just ok, nothing that I felt like I needed to buy. However we did get to try a sneak peak as some rose they were going to release later this year and that was pretty good! This place is very welcoming and I hope their wine will improve just a little over the next couple years because the couple that owns this place were very nice and I think it could be a great boutique winery. read more
