I got married this past weekend and had J Bella's Salon do our hair. Krystal helped with coordinating the day and Katie, Alyssa and Melissa were wonderful to help make the morning prep perfect! We brought in our own beverages and breakfast and were also able to get our make-up done onsite with the extra mirrors too. The ladies all looked fantastic and we had an absolute blast. Very overrated. Staff was very stiff and very uninviting. I did see the owner as she was pointed out by Meghan (stylist) and no wonder why the staff acts like they do. Cold, bitter and trying to act better than anyone (someone is insecure). Did get some unsolicited gossip...but when you operate out of fear you lose respect. If I could put less than one star, I would. I originally went in with no expectations other than to be treated professionally and kindly. I was greeted with immediate hostility by Jenn (the owner I believe), and felt uncomfortable in the environment. Regardless, I kept an open mind. As time went on, she continually made rude, inappropriate remarks to myself and others in the salon. On top of her undesirable attitude, the services were not up to par. I purchased a groupon for a spray tan at j. Bella's. They were very friendly when I booked the appointment and it was very easy to get in. The salon is good sized and in decent shape. I was greeted right away and taken to the room for spray tan. They have many levels of color for tan which is nice and rare. Sarah I believe her name was did a great job and was very thorough! I bought the spray tan groupon--5 tans for $63. What a steal! The salon is clean and fresh; the staff is friendly and pleasant. I've been for 2 tans so far. I absolutely adored my first tan. It was perfect. I had someone different for the second tan and did not like the application she did--a bit more heavy handed and am splotchy in some areas. Like anything, I suppose it is about who you get and your preferences. I settled on 3 stars for now since I felt like a 5 after my first visit, but if my first application had been like my second one I would not have recommended it and only given a 2. Will continue to evaluate on tans 3, 4, and 5. Overall, I want to be in a constant spray tan. Having pigment on my otherwise albino skin is aaaahmazing! read more

I have been to this salon multiple times and have always had a wonderful experience. I have had highlights multiple times and done the spray tan once. Karissa has done both of these services for me and she is awesome! She knows what she's doing and is super friendly. The rest of the staff is great too. I love how their products are organic, particularly the hair color. Can't stand the nasty smell of ammonia and other chemicals. Have used a groupon once and had no issue using it. We moved to Eden Prairie a while ago & I was frantically looking for a good hair salon. I found J Bella's Salon in Chanhassen to be the nearest to my location and I'm glad I did. Meghan was my hair stylist and she did a wonderful job with my and my 3 yr old daughter's hair. I have been to J Bella's once and had a designer haircut. The stylist was accurate in giving me the style I wanted. I felt she took the time to hear my concerns about my hair and a few changes I wanted from past cuts. It grew out nicely and I'm going for another cut today. This place has a deal for $15 haircuts during their slow days/hours, but they are pretty lame about letting you know these times. As in you call and ask if they still have that deal and they lie and say no. Also, I called today (their deal right now is for Mondays from 1-3, according to their facebook page) and the girl replied that they are no longer open on Mondays. Which is pretty odd because on Yelp, Google Places, their facebook page, AND their own website it still says they are open normal hours (I'm sure they still are too). Additionally, last time I went the stylist did a great job, and it only took 15 minutes to shampoo (additional $5) AND do my entire haircut. Since she did a good job I didn't mind, but I didn't appreciate her pushing me to buy their product, which she was talking about pretty much that whole time. Besides their product being over-priced, they also are "organic" but chock-full of bad ingredients. So if you want all-natural products you'll have to go somewhere else. I'll probably go back for a salon-quality haircut at that great price, but I won't recommend them for their crappy customer service, and their vague use of the word organic to overprice everything in their salon. There is enough false-advertising in the food industry. Plus when you plan to tip according to the REGULAR price and they treat you like crap because you're getting a deal, it really makes you rethink tipping them at all for doing their (customer-service oriented) job. read more

They are an organic salon, which makes me feel great about what products are being used no matter the service. It's also the only salon I will trust with my spray tans! Especially for my wedding. Organic hair color products. They put a product in my scalp and hair that burned my scalp and eyes. They put a plastic cap over my hair. I told them my scalp burned and they said the color is heat activated and walked away. They came back later to check and I said it was still burning, and so were my eyes, and they said the product is fine on other people and walked away. When I went to pay I told them my scalp and eyes were still burning, and they said that doesn't happen to other people. They said the charge was $75. I told them I was quoted $60 on the phone for a regrowth retouch depending on how thick my hair is. They said my growth was 1" not 1/2" and my hair was thick. They didn't tell me about the $75 charge until it was time to pay. What kind of a hair salon doesn't tell you the service fee until its done? $15 extra because my hair is thick and there's 1/2" more regrowth? It's not that thick and the regrowth is only from 5 weeks. I told the stylist that I couldn't believe I was being charged $15 more for my retouch or being charged at all after she burned my scalp and eyes and didn't wash the product out immediately or show any competence or care in addressing the effect her product had on me. She says she was just doing her job. I asked for the ingredients list and she didn't have it. I asked what the product was called and she couldn't tell me. I asked for the owner's name and she didn't give it to me. I asked for the manager's name and she reluctantly gave it to me. I asked what time the mgr would be in the next day and she reluctantly told me. Unbelievable! Are they serious? This kind of damage and dangerous product use with no concern, no care to wash it out right away, and charging me at all, but charging me $15 more without telling me the fee before the service was done? Organic ingredients? I still smell an awful chemical smell and my scalp and eyes burn as I write this. I will be contacting the mgr and the BBB. It's just absolutely unbelievable customer negligence and dishonest. I'm truly shocked. I'm going home to put a detox mask on my scalp and hope the burning and toxic smell stops. read more

If they screw up your highlights they don't fix/tone for free! I specifically said I wanted "very subtle, nothing too drastic/contrast" highlights in my black hair and ended up with a overbearing blonde highlights in black hair, so much for subtle. So apparently they charge $20 to "tone" the highlights. And I quote the owner if they have a 7-day policy (like every salon does), she said rudely "...we can't just give away our time and product for free". Great money-making strategy - make customer unhappy then charge to fix it! Also while I was getting a cut I saw the owner through my mirror rolling her eyes behind a gentleman's back and sighing and all he ever did was come in to ask some question about some promo. I went to J. Bellas with a groupon for a cut, style, deep condition, and highlights. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Kathy was my stylist and she gave me perfect highlights that were subtle (like I asked for). As for the haircut, she wasn't very helpful. I wasn't exactly sure what I wanted to do so I was kind of looking for someone to give me their opinion, which she pretty avoided doing even when I asked her what her thoughts were. We decided on a cut and she seemed kind of unsure the whole time (not very reassuring since I was making a big change). She didn't take much time on styling so I went home and touched it up. I really do like the cut and only have a few complaints about it. Definitely use the groupon, if you can, because otherwise their prices for color are really expensive... could be because everything is organic? read more

My last visit was late last year. While having a perm done, a client from the night before called and mentioned she wanted to have hair trimmed more. Leaving for Mexico in 2 days and I glow in the dark! I found a spray tan to J Bellas on Groupon for an amazing price and decided to give it a try. When I called to make the appointment I forewarned the poor girl who was to apply my spray tan that I was a spray tan virgin and extremely modest and asked if she'd ever done any "older" women (55) before. She assured me that she had. I walked up to the counter and was greeted by Kathy. She said she would be doing my tan, I said "I'm sorry, you must have pulled the short straw". She was super sweet and got my humor so I knew everything would be fine. I decided to "eau naturel" and again apologized for what she was about to see. Kathy made me feel very comfortable. We were joking and laughing and in no time the spray tan was done. Now I feel more confident about going on our vacation. Thank you so much Kathy for an incredible experience. After I showed up more than 10 minutes early for a three o'clock appointment, I was assured the stylist would be right with me. I waited, and waited and waited .....I wonder why the three women behind the counter who had ignored me for the past 30 minutes were so surprised that I was upset. Its not like they were busy. It was only when I got up to leave that they even showed any interest in me. how rude! read more

SUPER frustrating... I went to JBellas for low lights and a cut - Karissa was my stylist. She was super friendly and nice HOWEVER... My lowlights were gone within a week. I called and asked if there was anything they could do? Karissa told me she would have to talk to her manager and I would have to come into the salon for them to see my hair. I was a little annoyed at this point because now I have to go back in, have them check my hair, and then they get to decide if my hair has truly faded and what they were going to do about it. So I did, Karissa said, yes, your has faded. She then told me that she would re-do my lowlights and maybe add some highlights. I asked her if this is just a re-do and they were going to pay for it or was I going to have to pay for this. Karissa told me she would have to talk to the owner and then get back to me. Never heard from her since. I typically do not write reviews but I am very disappointed and upset that I went to their salon and received TERIBLE service. I too regret the 27.5% tip that I left (because I used a Groupon I paid $55.00 - and then tipped her $15.00). read more

I was really excited to come here and get my haircut, highlights, and deep conditioning from groupon. First off, I want to start by saying I had Sasha as my stylist and she is really nice. We talked the whole time I was there. I have no problem with her at all. I did have a problem with their customer service via phone. Wow!!! I've never talked to anyone who was as rude as the lady that I had spoken to. The day after the hair service I noticed that my hair is almost a yellow color and just really blonde. When I came in I had asked to just retouch my roots (black hair) and follow the highlights that I already had. Sasha and I agreed that we would make it a little lighter than my old highlights to give it that summer look - and we did....or so I thought. I called to ask if they could maybe tone down the blonde a bit because I'm not used to this really bright blonde. I feel so uncomfortable with this hair color that I just want to wear my hair in a bun every day just so I could hide it. The lady that I had talked to on the phone was really rude. Worst customer service ever! She said they would have to charge me for them to tone it (even though I wasn't happy with the result). I called again explaining that I don't think it's fair that they charge people to fix their mistake in the first place. The same lady who I had talked to from my first phone call said that she'd still have to charge me. Close to the end of our conversation she says, "uggh, You know what I'll waive your fee. Come in on tuesday; have a great day, bye!" then she hangs up the phone on me and I wasn't even done talking. The thing is, the first phone call she was really rude to me and the second phone call was even worse. I'm not one to complain at all and I usually just let it be, but this is my hair. I trusted them with my hair. Never once have I raised my voice at her. I was very calm and respectful and what I got in return was the opposite. They honestly could care less if you look like crap after the whole service is done....just as long as they get their money. I shouldn't say this about all the staff....it's just whoever that lady was that I had talked to. She needs to check herself. Way to go! If you keep acting like that, you'll lose customers fast. I won't even go back to them ever again even if they did offer me (rudely) the free toner service. They might just fuxx up my hair even more. Customer service is a big deal! read more
