Oh my goodness, you absolutely *have* to hear about our recent adventure to JC's! We've been dreaming about trying that place forever, but it's always felt like it was in a different zip code for us. Well, guess who's the best husband ever? Mine! He had a job site out in Royce City the other day, and he swung by JC's to pick up lunch for me. Seriously, what a total sweetheart! It was the most delightful surprise. So, get this - he ordered 10 tacos, and they practically sent us home with a feast of 20! And the burrito? Don't even get me started. This thing was so massive, it practically had to fold itself in half just to squeeze into the takeout container. It was a true marvel of engineering! We ended up feasting on that incredible haul for lunch *and* dinner for two whole days straight. All that for around $25! Can you believe the value? They're practically giving food away ya'll. It was ridiculously good too! They were, sadly, out of carnitas - which is usually my go-to - but I ended up with the brisket, and let me tell you, it was a revelation! Absolutely zero fat, perfectly juicy, and not a trace of that dry, stringy texture you sometimes get elsewhere. And their red sauce? Pure magic, seriously! Another really thoughtful touch was how they packed everything. Even though we would've happily devoured it all, they put all the garnishes - onions, cilantro, everything - on the side. It's brilliant for picky eaters, but even better for takeout, because nothing got hot and soggy on the trip home. Genius! The only tiny, minor thing was the absence of those complimentary chips and salsa you sometimes get. But honestly, with the sheer volume of delicious food we ended up with, I'm more than happy to overlook it. What a spread! We are absolutely, without a doubt, going back to JC's. Honestly this was the best taco spot ever. I would go to Texas just for this place. The food was AMAZING. I recommend the brisket quesadillas and the elotes in a cup. THEY ARE TO DIE FOR. They have a salsa/ veggies table too! Where you can help yourself. Ohhh and a HOT SAUCE RACK. Also, the staff is so kind and the atmosphere is very homey. TLDR: The owners are extremely rude and they chased us out and threw out food on the ground. Portions were small and it didn't look appetizing. DO NOT EAT HERE When we entered the owner lady was sitting down at a table. We ordered some tacos with bean, rice, and a soda. The owner shouted something to the cashier about charging us more than agreed, but I didn't say anything. We went outside and waited. When I came back in the tacos were sitting on the counter and the owner was still sitting there. We asked for the beans, rice, and soda and she said that she would have to charge us even more. When we tried to argue for our food the owner got mad, starting yelling at us. We exchanged words and left. Then her and her husband chased us out of the store. Warning: Food Poisoning I stopped by on a long drive as the outside looked interesting. When I first walked in I noticed how dirty it was inside. Who I assume was the owner (a tall Mexican man), was very short and rude with me. The tacos came out cold and they tasted funny. A couple hours down the road I was hit with horrible stomach cramps. The previous reviewer has probably eaten too many fast food tacos. These are Mexican tacos. Our absolute favorite, though, is the Steak Quesadillas. We were at another restaurant recently and daughter got the quesadilla for the first time there. I asked how it ranked. She said it wasn't that good and ranked lower than this other restaurant which had an average one. I asked how the other one ranked compared to JC's and she said that JC's is in its own category far above normal. Her theory was that it is the steak that makes it stand out. My theory was the cheese, but then I had to admit that the tortillas are awesome too. So we came to the mind-blowing conclusion that quality ingredients lead to a quality meal. This location off Hwy 78 has had a lot of eateries that came and went in the last 30 years. My wife and I decided to stop and give it a try. Big mistake. You can get better Tacos at Taco Bell, Jack in the Box or (Shudder) Burger King. These were small, and excessively greasy They had a bad flavor. You get to eat outside on picnic tables and have to dodge the flies. This is apparently a side business for the trailer mounted Taco stand taking up 3 parking places. This will be another footnote in the saga of greasy spoon restaurants that came and went at that address. There are several good Mexican restaurants in Farmersville and Melissa. No need to stop here for a bad taco. read more
