The Rockefeller store is not very busy with the pandemic because there are no tourists around and most office workers are WFH. Tons of stuff here at 70% off. I had the most rude cashier who clearly did not want to be there. I purchased 4 items from the sale section. When I inquired if they were 70% off she told me to look at the receipt. After reviewing the receipt I noticed 2 of the items were at full price and were 40% off. There were tons of that item at the sale section. Why put them there if they're not part of the take additional 70% sale???? I've been a long time JCrew customers with 90% of my wardrobe consisting of JCrew items. My love for JCrew has slowly been eroding over the years with lower quality products and now this rude cashier. I will take my business elsewhere! Good luck on your bankruptcy JCrew! read more

J Crew has high quality clothes at affordable prices. Today's Columbus Day sale is great. I've had my eye on a new Winter coat. Today I purchased it for 30% off. They have small sizes that fit me too! The Very Personal Stylist (that's what his card said) Eric, was so nice. He took the time to take my picture in the coat. He knew fit and advised me of the correct size. He had the coat all ready by the time I checked out. I've purchased J Crew T-Shirts many times in the past. I have had most of them for years. They never wear out and do not stretch out of shape or shrink. I love this location too! It's close to food. You can enter from outside the Plaza or inside the Concourse. Highly recommend! read more

I called the store today September 30th, 2023 at 6:50pm. They were to close in 10 min. I explained over the phone to the sales associate, Anthony that I needed to please purchase a blazer for my son's religious ceremony to be the next morning and I asked him for to pay over the phone and pick it up at the entrance door at 7:20pm. Anthony consulted with the manager as should be and he got the ok. I arrived because the traffic 27min after and two young smiling ladies where waiting for me at the entrance inside the store. My heart not went back to a normal rate after I saw them there waiting for me. This what I call a fenomenal client service! The team went beyond and after hours to help me. I had been in that store several times and I always walk out happy with the secure and the source of products and alternatives they offer. The crew have a great product knowledge, by the way, Anthony today was the one who suggested me the perfect blazer and color even when in the website the color was totally different. The store itself is beautiful and the layout is bright and airy, but it is a bit minimalist as a result with a limited selection. You can find some nice trousers or dresses here, but I would not go out of my way to shop here as I like to browse for hours and have a bit more variety at my fingertips. read more

I'd never shopped at J. Crew before today. It's a smaller store than the typical J. Crew, but it's still worth a browse. I went to buy two beautiful pairs of shoes for my mom as a birthday present. They were both on sale and I saved a massive amount of money. The associate who helped me on the floor was rude, but the one who rang me up was the sweetest lady who even wrapped the shoes all special for me when I told her it was a present and somehow gave me an even bigger discount on it. While the selection is great, the prices are ridiculous. I had a $50 gift card and couldn't find a single thing I wanted to buy or could afford. I was honestly shocked looking around at the prices. I am kind of neutral towards J Crew... their styles are New England preppy (white blouse + short shorts + Sperrys = J Crew!). I am okay with this, except most of the time their price tags ARE NOT justified at all. Even with this sale section here, I still find the prices a bit high. Shoes that I thought were cute were still $99.99 ON SALE (and the print was clearly not for spring at this time)... left a bit disappointed. Also I usually find that size 0 is still a little large for petite frames. I am around 5'4" thin but kinda curvy, and still the size 2-4 for skirts/pants can be pretty enormous. read more

It's way too pricey for me & the store is smaller than other locations. I came here for a private event so not sure if my experience is reflective of the typical experience here on a weeknight. The people we dealt with here were friendly & I figured out what size I wear in this store but the things I liked cost way too much. Selection wasn't bad but I remember a larger location closer to 14th that was better for my purposes. I waltzed in with a half baked concept of what I was going to wear to my dental fellowship ceremony later tonight. I'm not the shopping type. I find the experience overwhelming, embarrassing even, but I didn't want to regret not giving it some effort. I approached Sue who grasped exactly what I needed and got right to picking out some possible pairings. Before I knew it, I had a completely new outfit (which I suggested) and a few extras to alternate. I really don't do shopping so I was surprised how easy it was working with Sue and how many pieces actually worked on me. She was right there providing feedback ("that is very pretty", "I'm not loving it"), going back and forth finding sizes and coming up with different combinations. Additionally, almost every piece was on sale. I wish I could bottle Sue up and take her with me. She just seems like such a wonderful person. My mom started buying me J Crew clothing like 22 years ago. I was in 8th grade, and J Crew was catalog only. The clothes were conservative, preppy, and affordable. The only colors I remember them using were Khaki, Stone, & British Khaki. They had like one sweater...the cotton roll neck. I hated my mom for dooming me to dressing like a dork forever. Ever since then, I've had a love hate relationship with these people. Twenty two years later, my $29 jeans are now $98 and up. They have cashmere sweaters in all the colors of the rainbow, and crazy as it seems...they have a line of wedding wear! I still buy J Crew. As much as I bitch, I still find myself adding their stuff to my wardrobe every year. It's not as affordable, but they do have great sales. This location is a bit annoying because they are constantly bombarded by tourists visiting Rockefeller Center. It's hard to find things, and the lines are long. If you must go, try to avoid the weekends & especially the holidays! I would never have imagined all those years ago that I would still be wearing J Crew today. Even worse? I never understood the appeal of J. Crew. Their stores suck and the clothes are so boring and over priced. But I always walk into a J. Crew when I see one. It's because I am a self admitting catalog junkie. A good shopping day for me means collecting catalogs from J. Crew, Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, Crate & Barrel, etc. By the end of the day my bags are usually filled with catalogs more so than clothing. I digress. J. Crew is timeless and classy. As boring as it is, a well put together outfit from J. Crew makes someone look clean and rich. The clothing is made of expensive materials like cashmere and silk but if you're not careful you might end up with a lemon. I've known many people who've had clothes from J. Crew that fell apart just as easily as something from Old Navy. So choose wisely when you spend your pennies at J. Crew. This particular J. Crew is tourist central and smack in Rockefeller Center. I dared to go in during this insane Holiday season. What I did find was a great sale. There were many items marked down at least 25% and there was an additional 30% off mostly everything. I picked up some cashmere gloves and stripey knee high socks. My total was a mere $11. They had given me an additional 50% off discount and since the line was taking so long (it really wasn't compared to other places) one of the really nice salespeople came out and gave everyone mini bottles of Poland Springs water and apologized for the wait. It was a nice touch and bonus. For this kind of service and those kind of deals, I will brave the tourists and filter through all the conservative crap any day. read more

Its like New England blew up in 5,000 sq./ft. Its a $20 million flagship store and well it looks like it. You'll find everything J Crew has to offer both in stores and online. The staff is super top notch and are very helpful as this is a high profile store. This is the perfect place to pick up something cozy and fashionable for your visit to the city...I mean, why else are you at Rockefeller Center normally unless it is Holiday ice skating time? Actually, I could foresee a really good post-meal, holiday shopping, post ice skating moment, where you fall into this store and just have that perfect life-buzz going, and see all the cozy wood and comfy clothes and just fulfill every J Crew Marketing Personel's wet dream. I mean I can almost see myself buying something there right after all that and know I'd feel, like, ridiculously good about it. Ahhh, the power of brainwashing in this consumerism based culture! My favorite J.Crew store! The line can be long and the stuff here can be expensive, but hey, if you're coming here looking to spend $5 on a shirt or something, you're better off staying outside or going down the street to Forever 21 or H&M. If you know how to shop at a bargain, J.Crew can be plenty affordable and in your price range. This particular store has a great selection of sale stuff. During their promos, you can find the sale section running a promotion for an extra 30%, 40% or 50% (on a good day, like late winter) the already reduced price. Sweaters for $20, pants for $13, shoes for under $50. I have never paid more than $50 for anything in this store. So for me, digging through the clearance racks for good stuff and waiting for things I want to go on sale makes everything worth it for me. I am updating my previous review. Though my past experience at the store was horrible due to one bad cashier, I was contacted by the store manager who tried her best to solve the issue. She apologized for him and was very sweet to me in trying to get me the sweater I had originally wanted to buy. Although unfortunately, the sweater did sell out by then just like I had suspected, I was able to get another similar sweater that is also very cute and will be shipped to me free of charge. From this, I can see that customer service is valued at this store (although maybe not by every person working there), and care and effort is taken to make sure customers do have a good and satisfactory experience. My tip for future shoppers with any issues in the store, ask to speak to a manager because I'm sure they can definitely help with the issue to satisfaction if the cashier cannot. read more

Over priced perfection :( Maybe its me maybe its not me... First of all whats with the 1 ton door, that thing is impossible to open with out feeling like you had a work out - not that I'm weak just based on other doors. The store inside is placed out to perfection - everything is supper lined up, spacing is even folded all the same on every shelf- Someone have an OCD? - Not saying it has to be a mess but some imperfection makes it more of a human element. It makes me feel like I'm in a art showing just the velvet ropes are missing. The staff also seems perfect - the dressing - the make up, etc - URG - where is the human element Did i mention it is overpriced - well I'm saying its a bit over priced based on other locations. - am I paying for location of cloth? If NYC was tax free on clothing, then I'd visit this store more often. Paying full retail has never sat well with me, so I never look at new items no matter how pretty. At this store, the men's section is located one flight up. For you lazy lanigans, you'll have to take the stairs because the elevator takes a while and it's usually being used by associates that are restocking. Once you finally get upstairs, make a bee-line to the clearance section. Just make a left at the top of the stairs and don't stop until you reach a wall, then turn left and boom, you're in clearance land. The section isn't that large but you'll probably find a few things that you'll eventually talk yourself into. My weakness on my last visit was a plaid button-down. I have my favorite J.Crew in the city and this one isn't it. My roommate usually 'covers' this J.Crew but I just happened to be in her turf today. The selection is alright but kind of blah, probably because it's at Rockefeller Center. So if you want to hit up a J.Crew when they have their 'get additional X% off' sales, I wouldn't go here. They had tons of really old sale stuff. Also, there was at least one instance when we noticed that this store marked stuff down significantly slower. Never thought I will have such a bad experience in a JCrew store in NYC. People working at the men's section are just busy talking among themselves. The labels seem misplaced. The section that says Hoodies has shorts and no actual hoodies. I asked for different shirt size and the person brought a completely wrinkled shirt. He said he can steam it. I asked how long it will take and he said just 10mins and turned on the steamer. I was waiting at the change room and the guy never showed up. The steamer continued to heat and by the time he came back all the water had steamed out. So he had to refill the water and I had to wait till it is ready again! I think brand loyalty means little to JCrew. This is my second bad experience at their stores. First one was in St. Louis and I wrote a review for that several months ago. Finally, I want to stress that this is a review of the customer service at this particular store and not a review of JCrew's products. Over the years it's still a great location for sale merchandise and have womens and men's products in the same complex. It's just that this location is overrun with tourists that the store has become lazy looking when you walk in 20 steps. Staff looking frazzled most of the time. I am not really a "J-Crew" type girl, but then again, I never was really a "write reviews on yelp" type girl so things can change. I was recently in a friends wedding and had to buy a bridesmaid dress from here. I bought 2 sizes to make sure one would fit. That meant I had to return one, this location is close to my office, so I made it a lunch time mission. I despise returning things. I try and stand in line next to a lady with a screaming kid, or a girl fighting with someone over a cell phone just so my return of an item will appear pleasant. Back to the point, I went in here to return a dress. The cashier was nice and dressed like a J-Crew magazine model. He helped me with my return and refunded it to my card. It was flawless. The store was nice and smelled good. If i ever needed something from J-Crew, I would come here again. read more

I am writing about the customer service since it's all about the customer experience. I have to say, the sales associate never acknowledge me here which I find extremely annoying. I love the classic t-shirts and the blouses but unfortunately, this is the closest to work. The only time they paid attention to me was when i bought a petite J crew suit online and the navy pants did not match the petite navy jacket that was supposed to be partnered with it. That is when customer service stepped up their game so they can make another sale. Majority of my time is spent browsing through the J crew catalog online but stop in this store to ensure that what I see in the catalog is reflective of what I would receive in person. Unfortunately, their glossy catalogs make it look real pretty due to photoshop and the models but when I see it in person, the quality is no longer up to par to what it was 5 - 10 years ago such as the wool sweaters or the cotton t-shirts. I am even a bit wary of the cashmere sweaters that feel so soft but afraid it would fall apart if you sent them to the dry cleaners. Furthermore, the store was redesigned so there's less women's apparel but more j crew kids and shoes which is ok but this store is so small that I can't keep ordering online and returning items because the quality or the color is not true to what was advertised online. read more

Stop 4 on the J Crew MH Tour: Rockfeller Center From Union Square, hop onto another NQR (or FM works too) to 49th Street. The address is pretty wacky, cause you know, 30 Rockfeller encompasses a gigantic shopping mall. Turns out this J Crew is outside street level off 50th and the center. Two stories with men on the second floor. While it encompasses a whole floor, I couldn't help but feel it was a bit smaller than the Union Square one. They had pretty much the same styles available though. Don't remember if there was a Ludlow section. Sale Section: On the right side after the stairs near the dressing room. Pretty standard section size with about 2 racks of shirts and 2 shelves with pants. Was VERY messy though. Denim/Chinos kinda thrown everywhere, no hangers for suits/pants so they're just kind of tossed in the mix too. There were also some clearance J Crew coasters which made me wonder why on earth would J Crew be selling coasters?? Surprisingly on this trip, found a bunch of Urban Slim Fits in my size, which I happily purchased! read more

The selection of men's clothes is pretty weak and skews heavily towards skinny asian boys who like expensive shirts that look old and wrinkled. The sales staff have that weird retail superiority complex, when they're not busy gabbing with each other. In short, the only way you could make shopping here more awkward would be to telecast a live feed from the dressing rooms in Roc Center. read more

The new layout in this store is so much better than the previous. It's more spacious and the inventory looks abundant. However, their sale section is still a bit on the lame side. Most of the sale items are either just basic tees or some really ugly dress that no one ever wants. I adore the shoe and handbag section they have now and every item is beautifully displayed. I'm glad they officially moved the cash register to the back because when it used to be near the front, it caused heavy foot traffic for people coming in and out of the store. It also helps that they improved the lighting too. But it's still my least favorite J.Crew store. read more
