This made my husband and I uneasy at times, but Living Modern has an amazing showroom that is not going anywhere anytime soon. This is place that you have to check frequently. 9 out of 10 times when I go in, I don't buy…read moreanything. But, boy, when that 1 out of 10 times hits, it's because I've found something really amazing at a fraction of the cost at the main store. For example, I paid thousands of dollars to the main store for furniture from the Tate Collection, and I found two more pieces to add to it at the outlet for around $200. This is high-quality, mid-century-modern furniture designed by this really awesome guy named Blake Tovin. The outlet's furniture might have minor wear and tear from being in a showroom or being returned by a customer. The sales staff ALWAYS points out any nicks or dings to me before I buy a piece. You can't return things to the outlet, so it's a demonstration of integrity that they want you to see what might be flawed, so that you aren't duped. Sometimes, however, there are absolutely no flaws, and you're buying something in perfect condition. I have been lucky in that regard. A bookshelf I bought had one scratch from where a sticker was stuck to it and had been scraped off. That scratch, still, would not have been discernible to me or someone walking by. Anyway, great sales staff and a great store for hunting for a bargain.

I ordered a living room of furniture three months ago from Crate and Barrel (Ali was my designer). The furniture was picked up a month ago (mid April) by Fragilepak - the company that Crate and Barrel uses to deliver the furniture. Since then, it's been a complete lack of communication. It's been a month since the furniture was picked up by the logistics company. And after 4 calls to the logistics company, they told me to have Crate and Barrel reach out to them to address the many issues with my order (damaged merchandise, lack of communication from Crate and Barrel) along with it just sitting in a warehouse for the last month. I've contacted Crate and Barrel multiple times over the past month (both via email and via phone). They've basically taken a hands' off stance and told me to deal with FragilePak. I'm absolutely livid with the crappy service from Ali and the team at Crate and Barrel. There is still no resolution as of today and nobody at Crate and Barrel is lifting a finger to fix this shit show.

Having been there before I warned them that this place was very disorganized and felt like walking into a hoarders home, but sometimes they have really great things. On this day, for whatever reason, the guy working was incredibly unhelpful and rude. At forty minutes before they close he refused to help us citing it was "too close to closing time" and to come back tomorrow if we really wanted to look. I was shocked. If I had my things for sale in this store I would be upset by that. Anyways, they lost a few customers that day. And we weren't the only ones. As we were coming into the store a woman, who seemed very upset, was walking out after an exchange with the same man.

We were a bit pressed for time, so we didn't get to really look at everything, other than to take a quick look through the warehouse. The warehouse is a real sensory overload. They also have yard sculpture pieces outside that I did not look at. They have good prices on some really good looking cabinets, as well as doors of all kinds. We have a older house, and so will be slowly renovating. DHW will be our first priority of places to come to for that vintage look, as well as the current stuff. Maria was very nice to show me around, and we were stunned at how much stuff they have.

Mecox fits the bill! They are pricey but I dare you to find any of their inventory anywhere else. Everything is unique and of high quality. I love the idea that the items we bought are rare and won't be seen in every transitional DFW home. Furthermore, the "Cheers" atmosphere is unmatched in the area. David is one of the most talented and genuine human beings in retail. All the staff is truly wonderful, however, I feel like I not only found a great place to shop but also a friend in him. He makes spending $2k on a lamp or $3500 on a chair feel good! Lol. You will never regret your purchase here-they even have a 24 hr try period where you can use your credit card to reserve a piece, take it home, make sure it suits the room, and decide if you want to keep it or return it.
