Smoky Mountain Knife Works is probably one of the most insane shops I've ever been to. Prior to…read moremoving to this beautiful state, I came here thinking it was just some knife shop...it's so much more than that! You've never truly been to TN unless you've been inside a three-story shop that sells knives and swords of every kind, guns galore, rocks, fossils, taxidermy, and historical collectors items. I found a few WW2 Germany artifacts here and I knew I was in TN when I could buy a Nazi helmet and a gun at the same time (not that I did nor would desire to, but wow). Browsing their mystical "fossils" was fun, too. As a rock collector, I will say that the rocks were overpriced and honestly, not the greatest collection for clarity. What was priced well were the ninja stars. The staff here are all friendly and helpful, none follow you around which is nice because this store is massive and can easily take over an hour wandering around and browsing. If you're comfortable walking around knowing people are carrying and watching the sell of weapons, this store is pretty cool.

Lauren was the person working during our time there and she was so friendly and thoughtful. There was a great selection of items available if you are a fan of wrestling as well as Hulk Hogan. Seems like a smaller Bass Pro vs other locations, but I've only been in a couple so maybe it's just…read moreme. Parking is a bit odd as you drive past the store and almost seem to park behind it. They do have a large selection of boats (bass, pontoon, runabout), and a good selection of outdoor gear for hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, etc. Some items seemed reasonably priced but many appeared fairly expensive, especially the clothing. It's dark inside for a retail store, making it hard to see the merchandise in some parts of the store. They have a smaller second floor with a balcony view over the lower level. The wildlife display, large fish tank and waterfalls in the middle of the store are very cool. You should expect to be approached by employees trying to sell you vacation packages, which is a little annoying when you're just trying to shop. They weren't very busy during my visit, and only had six customers at the two open registers, but it still took a long time to checkout. It's an interesting store to visit or shop if you're looking for something specific, but I probably wouldn't shop there regularly.

Juanita told me she had a bag of bargain white tee shirts in the back - all $1 and all 4X! She said she bought them from someone who assured her they were all different sizes. They were not. In hindsight, I should have bought one or more. You never know when you might want to be swallowed up in a soft extra large tee! She also has a lot of books, all reasonably priced.
