Took my son Michael out tonight for his birthday to J.J. Garden for some old school cantonese food. With the never ending tea pot, home made fried noodles with duck sauce,General TSO chicken thats so juicy and Beef chop suey to die for. Where aspirations for authentic and comforting cantonese cuisine are fulfilled. On a dime. The best steam pork Dimsum in queens.#jjgarden

Fresher & Tastier Chinese in J Hts

My go to for Chinese American in J. Hts, a step above the other options. Fresher tasting and more vegetables like chinese broccoli. The chicken is less rubbery. They also have dumplings and traditional Chinese dishes like roast duck. When you eat there they bring you a pot of tea on request which I love!

    General Tso's Chicken -

Good if you're craving classic Chinese takeout. Ordered Wonton Soup, General Tso's Chicken, and Fried Chicken Wings via DoorDash. The soup was nothing to write home about, but the wings were crispy and the General Tso's chicken actually had some good spice to it, which some places don't do enough of. Would order from here again.

    Jj's shrimp!

Love Jj's. In particular their JJ's shrimp. I've never found a honey walnut shrimp as good as theirs and it's a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED dish. I've dined in and ordered out and always had pleasant experiences. Food always fresh and delicious. The General Tso's dish is a staple on every single Chinese restaurants menu but what makes theirs stand out is the choice between white and dark meat. I took a pic of my shrimp but way late as I remembered in the middle of devouring it. Do yourself a favor, get the shrimp. 18.95 but most delicious and enough to split into 2 maybe even 3 separate meals.

Good stuff! All yummy. Gotta try the pork and cabbage soup and the eggplant in garlic sauce.

Food is delicious and fresh. I have been going to this establishment for years. A bit pricey but well worth the splurge.

By Ditmars standards, the place feels large and spacious. Their renovation from a few years ago is really paying off, Waiting is a part of the experience, as folks will eventually pick items from the display and cooked to their liking. It's hard to go wrong with anything on the display which for me include stheir chunky octopus tentacles, their succulent butterfly shrimp, grilled fish, and tasty grilled scallops. It was balanced and refreshing, but pretty similar to most mules. For an app, we had the halloumi fries and they were really good, especially if you are a halloumi fan. The portion is definitely on the smaller side, so if you are sharing with a group I would order more than one. For my entree, I had the Turkish eggs and loved them. They were really well seasoned and the staff was kind enough to let me swap the bread for their biscuits. I had heard great things about the biscuits and they did not disappoint. My partner had the Chicken Not Waffles and I stole some of his cinnamon butter for my biscuit. So good! I also took a bite of his pancake and really liked that too. The staff was incredibly nice to our pup and I really appreciated that, especially since she can be a little overly friendly. They brought her a big bowl of water and just seemed genuinely happy to have her there. Overall, we really enjoyed Queen's Room. Great food, incredibly friendly service, and a nice brunch spot if you want to bring your pup along. Would definitely come again!

Unfortunately we were there too late for happy hour specials and the cocktails are a little on the pricier side. Drinks in my photos: La Isla Bonita Like a Virgin (mocktail) (I love the Madonna-themed names) We really wanted the Halloumi Fries but were told they ran out. Food shared between 2 people: Chicken Wings (lemon parmesan flavor) Seared Tofu (comes with asparagus, broccolini, spinach). French Fries (large portion so others at the table had to help us with it). One of my other friends had the Cacio e Pepe tortellini. He said it didn't taste like "authentic" cacio e pepe but that it was still delicious and he finished it all. Great staff, location, ambiance, food and drinks.

I…read moredo wonder if I got lower quality food since I ordered takeout, but I'm not interested to try again. The rice noodles for the bun cha were rough. Refrigerated at least once and not fully heated up again to be bouncy. The egg roll and pork patties were definitely pre-fried way in advance. They were too chewy and crumbly. The banh mi doesn't use a baguette bread but rather a roll style bread, so it's really dense. The pork cold cut had dried edges. What tainted the taste the most is the soggy, semi-sour cucumber. Only pro is that this was all ready within 10 minutes. But I think that's because nothing was fresh.

You get your choice of pho: vegan, beef, or chicken and half a sandwich of your choice. We both got the round steak pho and one traditional banh mi and one chicken banh mi. Honestly, having a half sandwich and a small bowl of pho really hit the spot and was surprisingly filling. Traditional Banh Mi: (4/5) sandwich was tasty and had the cold cuts with the pickled carrots. If they toasted the bread then I think it would make it even better. Chicken Banh Mi: (3/5) chicken had a nice lemongrass flavor but overall was just okay. The traditional one was much better. Round Steak Pho: (4/5) the broth was nice and lighter than my usual beef pho but still tasty. I like my pho with a wedge of lime, fresh basil and bean sprouts. So if they forget to give it to you, just ask for it. Although the restaurant may seem narrow but it's long and has plenty of tables in the back. The music is a little loud and club like but otherwise, I had a great experience here. So if you're in Astoria, I would highly suggest this place for their great lunch deal. Can't be beat!
