My boys wanted Chinese take out from this Chinese food joint in Sunnyside as they order from here many times but I told them lets wait until we get to Astoria and order local but they said nope and glad I listen cause china garden kicks ass with it's extensive menu , large portions , good prices and grub is delicious. Egg rolls ,spare ribs , steam veggie dumplings , 2 chicken with broccoli dishes , one large veggie fried rice and we are on our way to my crib to munch and watch some football . Food is very good and my 2 pals were eating like it was the end of the world , plates were clean to the bone and not even a Fortune cookie was left for me . No frills local Chinese food. The owners and cooks here are hard working and seemed to be loved by so many in the neighborhood. My parents and I dined in a couple of times here and they were taking orders nonstop the whole time! Everything's pretty good here, especially their fried chicken!! The veggie and some meat dishes all seem to be made with the same sauce so just be aware of similar flavors if ordering multiple entrees! The prices are sooooo good. My dad loved that the most. I was at Alewife Brewing, after a few brews I was craving fast food Chinese. I looked up places on yelp and this place had some really good reviews, so I decided to check it out. Ordered the general tso chicken with pork fried rice, and an order of bbq ribs with chicken fried rice. The general tso was on point, not heavily battered, and tasted fresh, the bbq ribs were really good, maybe a tad sweet, but I didn't mind that at all. The portions were big, especially for the fact that I paid less than $21 for both dishes! I ordered over the phone, and food was ready within 10 minutes. They are cash only, so keep that in mind, there is a supermarket across the street with an ATM in case you need to get cash. The inside is typical of what you'd expect for a fast food Chinese place, a few tables and chairs, but seemed very clean. I'm definitely coming back here. For a fast food Chinese restaurant they offer the best chicken wings. I have tried chicken wings from all different Chinese restaurants in Sunnyside and there is no comparison. China Garden wings are seasoned perfectly and you get a whole plump hot crunchy juicy wing and they count it as one wing (some other places cut it into 2 pieces and count it as two). There are four in an order. Wings with white rice completes my dinner. I sometimes order their chicken pan fried noodles which is really good. I think its better than what you would get in Chinatown. You have to make sure that you mention that you want Cantonese noodles (very thin) otherwise it won't be authentic. I also ask them to make it in white sauce with no green peppers (hate that). I always do take out from here. When you get home just put fried noodles in large bowl and pour all of the chicken and vegetable on top and wait patiently for some of the juices to absorb then enjoy. read more

Very dissatisfied. I ordered many things, and pretty much everything I ordered wasn't good, but my most disappointing item was the fried rice with chicken. I specifically asked them about the mix of fried rice and fried rice with chicken; they told me it was the same thing but that it would only have chickens as meat which was perfect for me. Then I asked them what part of the chicken they use as I don't like any fact on my chicken and prefer chicken breast. They said they used the leg but that it had no fat. My sisters and I love this takeout location. The ingredients taste fresher and healthier than every other Chinese takeout restaurant. The dishes don't feel bogged down with oil or cornstarch, and while they are Americanized, they still have an authenticity to them that an Asian palette would approve of. Many of the dishes can be steamed if you request it. We've gotten the General Tso's chicken with pork fried rice four times so far and were pleased every time. It is always fried to crispy perfection, slathered with just enough sauce without drowning in it. Sometimes we order the egg drop soup along with the hot and sour soup. On occasion, we've gotten the pepper steak with onion (this dish had a bit too many onions and peppers). Beef with garlic sauce was pretty good. I discovered this place when I had the stomach flu from hell and really needed soup. I barely had energy to leave my bed as I kept throwing up and my fridge was empty. Anyway, I gave this place a call and ordered a large vegetable soup and egg drop soup on a whim. Besides, I couldn't have anything else besides water, ginger ale, and Gatorade. The soup to my surprise was actually very good. I was expecting it to be a disappointment because the Chinese fast food selection in the area have been a let down. Astoria and Sunnyside on the other hand have a larger selection. I came back on day 2 and tried other dishes as my stomach was feeling better and their chicken chow fun is really good. It actually has flavor. You'd be surprised how many places mess up such a simple dish. I'll definitely be order from them again. The only downer is the fact they only accept CASH. They of course have the regular "hoodinese" specialties like wings, rib tips, etc. But the star of the show for me is the noodle soup options with 9 types of noodle to choose from! Amazing!!!!! The employees are super friendly and will chit chat while you wait (contingent upon the flow of business). On my first trip, I tried a lunch special of shrimp egg roll and shrimp with string beans (food stuff). Then i saw the soup menu and knew i would soon be back. A week later (and the following 2 or three weeks) i ordered the shrimp noodle soup. It was what life was made for!!!! Fresh, big leaves of baby bok choy, plump jumbo shrimp (cooked to perfection), bean sprouts, and I chose glass noodles. I have not had better in all of NYC.
