I came on a Saturday night and it was BUSY! We were only a party of 2, and luckily there was a seating available at the bar with full menu service. If we wanted to get a table in the main dining room, the wait was estimated to be over 2 hours (we went around 8pm), so I highly recommend making a reservation if you plan to go. The staff were very quick with service and very friendly. We were offered toasty bread with some lemon and an olive spread while we waited for our food (which also came out super quick!). We ordered the octopus and lamb chops. The octopus was incredibly tender, the meat was very soft - I personally would've preferred a little more bite to it, but it still tasted good. The lamb chops were flavorful. The medium here is on par with medium rare at most other places, and one of our pieces was borderline rare. At the end of the meal we were also offered complementary desert, which was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed our meal overall, but just know that it's a little on the pricey. Not the first time at this location, but it's been awhile. Been coming here since they were at the other location, and enjoy this setup a bit more. Celebrating a birthday and went here upon request...Let's start with: THE WAIT: always long, haven't figured out when to come and be able to just walk in.. I'm flexible let me know when it can happen!!! An hour on a weeknight is painful for a place that doesn't take reservations. PRICING :on the upper end of reasonable. $29.95 for 5 shrimp (and they weren't too big) with a side of Swiss chard is a bit pricy for quantity, despite the grilled flavor well infused and delicious, still feels a bit hefty. Vegetables and salad are extra (small Greek salad 15$) unless you pass on the carbs and select the Swiss chard. But then ...there's no carbs and no fun!! Portion sizes: inconsistent : personally the portions I can eat are very small, so when I can almost finish my meal... others might need more. 5 shrimp, on the smaller end for an entree, it's usually at least six when so small, butterflied to appear larger, I wasn't fooled. Whilst the salad portions are huge! Even a small can easily be shared by 3 people (as a side, that is). The grilled octopus portion was appropriate and definitely their standout item. Restaurant spacing -There is none.. you will be sitting on top of other people with maybe 10" between tables if you're lucky. Didn't think I cared much until the table next to us turned over and the new arriving party almost had the straps of his backpack in my son's lemon potatoes... thankfully I have a quick hand and was able to intercept.. but you get the point. Food quality: Amazingly fresh, every type of fish we've had here has been delicately prepared and only intermittently a little heavily salted... but that depends on the chefs hand... and doesn't deter from the quality and freshness. Service: always extremely friendly, handsome and attentive. From host to server to cleanup... very nice service, I never wait for anything or anyone. Def 5 star service! Overall delicious Greek seafood, and they do the best with what they have. They'll call you when the tables ready should you choose to wait in the car. Their birthday sparkler brings a little excitement to a celebratory dinner as does the complimentary Greek dessert. Their service makes up for the price and price never deters me anyway. I've only ever been to the Bayside location, so first time at Astoria location. In Astoria, seating is definitely more crowded with chairs blocking space to walk between tables and service is a bit more curt.. but what about the food? I would say food is consistent with their other location. I always like getting their grilled octopus, which is grilled perfectly until it's crispy on the outside and not too chewy. I was a little shocked at the price of the small/medium size branzino ($80), it was good but I wouldn't say $80 good. read more

Taveryns Kyclades is very hyped and for a good reason. The service is incredible and every server ive had was attentive and sweet. The octopus and the brazino was perfectly cooked and have amazing flavor. The lamb was so perfectly cooked and the favorite dish of the night. Taverna Kyclades honestly exceeded my expectations! We came on a Saturday, late afternoon, and put our name down for 2 people which ended up being a 45min wait. You give them your number and they'll call you when the table is ready! My partner and I opted to get fried calamari and we could taste how fresh it was. Additionally, it was a huge portion for the price which we were very pleasantly surprised about! We also got the special which included a bunch of goodies (shrimp, scallops, lobster tail, classic, crab meat, white fish) and a side of the lemon potatoes. I went to this restaurant with a group of 5 people. The restaurant looks beautiful with a lot of white and blue color. However, the tables and seats were so close to each other it felt like there isn't enough room. Just be very careful when getting up to use the bathroom, so you don't knock over other people's food. We ordered a total of 7 food items for the table and we were really full. I enjoyed the crab cakes, spinach pie, red snapper, and Greek salad. The octopus was okay because it was a bit too chewy for me. My coworkers enjoyed the lamb chops. Overall, the food was good. Stumbled into Taverna Kyclades with a friend one night for dinner and it was the best thing we did that day!! We got in there right before the dinner rush so we were able to get seated and have our drinks in about 10m. The vibe was very greek with the insides very white and blue and large enough to seat many of peoples. The staff was so welcoming and patient; was able to answer any and all the questions that we had, especially because it was the first time there. They brought out bread and an olive spread that was honestly so tasty. My friend and I had a hard time not eating it all before our app came out. I ordered a Sangria and it was sooo good and a good amount. For the app we had the Octopus and it was grilled/cooked perfectly. Lightly seasoned and fresh. We shared a whole snapper with rice and beets and it all had such good flavor. After your meal they bring out a piece of cake (i cant remember the name) which was so flaky, moist and sweet. My friend lives in the area and told me we had to go there. She got the grilled octopus and I got the chicken souvlaki, and we split the dips. The dips were phenomenal. The pita was warm and garlicky. The chicken was filling and served with tzatziki. I got the lemon potatoes on the side, which we soft and a signature of good Greek food. I've been here plenty of times. But every time I come with a different person, it becomes a different adventure. The saganaki was very salty and I've seen other Greek restaurants actually put some honey or they'll have some type of jam to sweeten it up a little bit. Some pictures missing is the branzino that I had which was delicious. The octopus was also very delicious. I chose the grilled calamari, but I think the fried version would've been a better option for us. I must say that our it took a while for our order to come, especially when the people next to us came after us. It's always busy so I get it. I came here for lunch and my experience was subpar. The hostess had an attitude and was not welcoming at all. The waiter tried to sell us a branzino for $250 that was supposedly for 4 people. My family member got the regular branzino that is for 1 person and it was the same size. Talk about trying to rip me off. The pork souvlaki was burnt and dry. They tried to make it more upscale by removing the other items that typically come with it, but it was not. The only good thing about the meal was the calamari. Scrumptious is how I would describe Taverna Kyclades. Pretty restaurant located on a corner in Astoria reminiscent of my trip to Greece with the white and royal blue painted facade. You walk in and instantly are transported to "the Greek spot" where many locals go and you know you are in for a wonderful dining experience. Hostess was so sweet and congenial....although it was very busy we were seated immediately (no we did not have a reservation). No need to ask for anything the staff bussing the tables were spot on offering water as soon as we were seated. Toasted bread slices and kalamata spread was a nice touch as we browsed the menu. I wish I could recall our waiters name he was great and had a wonderful smile (felt like we knew him he was so warm and personable). He made sure our order was perfect and checked on us the make sure everything was to our satisfaction. The menu is extensive so trying to narrow down what to choose wasn't easy but we were ecstatic when the food was presented. Shrimp was split and grilled perfectly, the fish was flaky and flawlessly prepared and seasoned. We chose a Greek salad to accompany our meal....its the perfect pairing option to go with fish. As the side we also had Swiss chard and lemon potatoes. There's a treat at the end, free dessert...a slice each of Galaktoboureko which is a Greek custard with a hint of cinnamon. I have frequented TK in East Village for years but when they suddenly closed "temporarily", we waited like fools for the reopening. They never happened and since late 2024, the EV location is still closed "temporarily." But thank God for the Astoria location. The menu is the same and the quality of the food is on par and may offer slightly bigger portions even. Greek food is my current love and I go to TK more frequently than my home country cuisine restaurants, which is Korean. We pretty much order the uzhe every time and we are never disappointed. I think we have some kind of addiction because after a week or two, we get the craving for their super tender grilled octopus, savory and lemony potatoes, and enormous swordfish steak with rice. Also, we always order the small village salad, which isn't actually small by any means. And their freshly toasted olive bread that comes complimentary is a warm-up for your stomach for the feast that's to come. We've tried a few other dishes like chicken souvlaki, lamb chops, fried anchovies, grilled sardines, grilled whole fish (branzino?) and spanakopita. They are all good but when it's just the two of us, we usually stick with our octopus, salad, and swordfish. Everything is extremely fresh. The meal ends with complimentary dessert. I'm not much into sweets, but if you are, you will love their Greek dessert. We went to Greece last fall and I would say that TK food is on par if not better than the places we visited in Greece. The place gets packed on weekends and they don't take reservations. Better to stick with a week night dinner if you can manage it. I also love the hospitality and service here. I came here after trying the Bayside location, and I was most impressed with the potatoes. I expected fries, but the way they cooked their potatoes were flat so it was both crispy and fluffy. I was a bit sad that they didn't have branzino on their lunch menu, because I had the branzino at the Bayside location, and it was amazing! Instead, I got the salmon, which I didn't love, but it was still good. I did like their rice though, and how attentive they were. It was also more upbeat compared to the Bayside location and it just felt brighter. I would love to come back and try another fish - probably the branzino. Also, the bread was SO good. Space and seating is a bit cramped but I've also seen worse lol. I especially loved the pork souvlaki for the flavor and how juicy it was. The sauce it came with was really good too, but once this cools down, definitely a bit more on the chewy side. Fried calamari was yummy too, not too greasy. The grilled octopus had good texture, but I didn't like the sauce it was sitting it. Grilled branzino wasn't too bad, just overcooked. The seafood pasta was very average and also overcooked, to the point we barely touched it and just took it to go instead. This is still my favorite Greek spot outside of Greece. And now they have a lunch special ... yes please! We came yesterday to celebrate the start of the holiday season. I got the salmon steak while my boss got the grilled sardines. The salmon steak was fresh and the lemon potatoes just melt in your mouth. It is Always a Pleasure to come here. The staff was so friendly and were able to make space for my stroller. And their blue and white Christmas decorations were so cute it set the mood. Thank you for having us. Wow! What a wonderful Greek Restaurant. They can get very busy so we went a little before 5pm and we were quickly seated. Within 15 minutes there was a line of people waiting. We ordered a Greek salad which easily feed all 6 of us and left overs. Salad was absolutely beautiful, there were large pieces of feta in the salad that you can break apart and crumble yourself. I've never had a salad this wonderful. We ordered the assortment of dips and again I thought they were great. Calamari was nice and crispy. They have a full bar so we ordered a couple of glasses of wine.I ordered grilled shrimp and was not disappointed. Did a walk-in and the weight was about 30 minutes, which was fine. We had drinks next-door until they were ready for us. We were called and sat down quickly and ordered our appetizers spreads which were delicious. I wish they would've brought out the pita bread at the same time because by the time the pita bread came out for the spreads , we were done with the spreads lol Had the salmon steak and it was so flavorful and delicious and fresh will definitely order that again . The signs were lemon potatoes and swiss chard salad also very good. The house red wine was a treat. Very delicious actually taste better than the wine we had at the bar next-door. Things are relatively expensive compared to other comparable places who are also a bit more consistent. Made the mistake of coming here for brunch on a Sunday at 1PM and thinking that there wouldn't be a line. Ha! My girlfriend and I sat at the bar to avoid the long wait, there was a longer wait for outside seating than inside. We ordered the dips (they didn't give us pita until we asked for it twice), Greek salad, branzino, chicken souvlaki, lemon potatoes and Swiss chard. I ate mostly the branzino and Greek salad. The branzino was super fresh but had no seasoning whatsoever. After a sprinkle of salt and lemon, it was MUCH better. The Greek salad was fresh and HEAVY on the tomatoes. Lemon potatoes were def lemony but nothing to write home about. The dips were a little bland, the best one was the spicy feta and tzatziki. Overall, the service was friendly and efficient even during a really busy time. Fish was fresh so that was a win. I don't really think the dessert is "free" because the prices here are definitely steep so you paying for those desserts lol.
