We paid almost $80 for three burgers and fries -- absolutely ridiculous considering the awful quality and the incredibly long wait. A customer who arrived 20-30 minutes after us still got his food at the exact same time we finally received ours. We ordered two classic cheeseburgers, a Big Bang, two white truffle fries, and a regular order of fries. The person taking our order kept messing everything up. We clearly asked for no tomatoes and for the fries on the side, yet when our food came out, we were missing a side of fries and still had tomatoes on the burgers. When we brought it up, the employee basically told us we never asked -- which was not only wrong, but extremely disrespectful. We started off with their mozzarella sticks, Mac and cheese balls, and Caesar salad (because health) then we got the bad boy burger and the fire grilled chicken sandwich. Both were absolutely delicious!! The bad boy burger was the size of my head, so only get that if you're in the mood for a monster burger. The chicken sandwich had amazing flavor! I have been recommending KX Burger to everyone I know since they opened. I absolutely loved their food. I would always get my burgers with a gluten free slice wrap and it was always grilled to perfection and so delicious. Today I made an order for pickup because I was feeling terrible and have a young baby. When I got there they informed me that my order was given to someone else and that they had to remake it and that it could be 15-20 minutes. That's ok things happen. However, I was in a rush to get home to my kid and live a far walk away so the person in charge said they would deliver it themselves personally "in 20 minutes." I didn't ask them to do that. They offered. He gave me his personal number and said to contact him with any issues. I didn't ask for that either. He also took my full name and number. I walk home and wait. I don't rush them. A half hour goes by and he texts saying they are 15-20 minutes away. I casually mentioned that now it's going to be an hour late from my pickup time so he calls to say he's gong to give us a double order to make things right and that he is NOW on his way. We finally receive the food and he is apologetic. So far so good. I open my order and this photo is what I got...twice. I ordered a Sriracha Chicken Burger in a Gluten Free Wrap, sliced. I've ordered from KX many, many times and this is nothing even close to the quality I normally receive. I usually receive a delicious, grilled wrap. I got a dry taco with half melted American cheese on it. I texted the person to show him what I received and I also called him because I figured that would be easier. He said he isn't sure what happened and said he would put in a "request" for a $50 credit for a future order. I hung up and realized that what I received isn't even on their menu and that I have no idea what it actually is so I don't know if the "tortilla" that the food was haphazardly thrown into was safe for me to eat (even though it looked disgusting.) I texted him to find out what it was to know if it was gluten-free or not. It was already 9pm and I just wanted to eat. He said it was the sandwich I ordered but with "no wrap." I then show him a photo of the "tortilla" and he said he couldn't tell what it was and told me to throw it out and not risk it. I expressed my frustration with them delivering food they don't even know the contents of, and said I would like the owner to contact me, but didn't mean immediately. I expressed my frustration with having no dinner when I'm chronically ill and have an infant at home, and he called me to say that while he is apologetic and totally understands why I am so upset and disappointed that he can't answer "all my texts within 30 seconds" because he's dealing with tons of angry customers (I wonder why...) and the cooks are busy and can't tell him the ingredients of what they are cooking. I said "ok" and he hung up. I blocked his number so he can't contact me again. I've lived in Astoria for 15 years and I've never experienced this. The food I received was disgusting and the person in charge couldn't even tell me what I was eating. It's not just about being served disgusting food, it's also the fact that they put me through this whole journey and then at the end of it all I got something that looks terrible and isn't even on their menu. He offered me all this stuff, acted like my friend, told me that he used to work in corporate America and is "built for this", commented on my hometown area code, and told me to call him with any issues. Then he called me to yell at me when I assumed any sort of familiarity in my responses. I honestly want to cry. I work so hard every day and I'm struggling with my health and having a toddler. I'm annoyed, angry, and hungry and after an absolutely horrible day I just wanted to relax and treat myself for once. Instead I ate buttered toast for dinner. The owner is supposed to contact me but this has been so upsetting that there is no point. I'll never order from them again and I will never recommend them again to anyone. I've been dying to try this spot and I finally got the chance today! The outside is full of cute decor and a good amount of seats. They give you coupons after your first purchase, which is worth it because I absolutely loved my burger. The burger was a good size and I love that you can build your own. Plus, mondo thanks to KXBB for being among the businesses rocking out fresh options and helping us find some sense of normalcy as we continue making our way through this pandemic. Definitely an A-OK joint worth checking out. Those points alone are why I'm bummed at feeling KXBB is just a 3-star option (for me. I'm clearly in the minority, and am all about that!). I will most certainly reorder that quesadilla, those fries, and a different kind of shake...plus I'm thinking about making my way through their non-beef burger options. But for this burger lover, a burger joint has to have on point beef burgers as their base, with the rest of the menu (especially the sides) kickin' up their awesome factor. For the price point (even with the awesome thickness and serious ounces they pack into those patties), I wasn't wowed. Tried the truffle theory burger. They nailed the temp! The thing looked pretty good...but I hardly tasted any of the truffle mayo (maybe two bites tasted of the stuff). So it didn't live up to its name sake. I also wasn't wowed by the patty blend. That said, props to using sustainable packaging. Just need better attention to bag packing since they're using ones that don't always hold their shape. So I got a squished bun since that container was on the bottom of the bag, even though it was the lightest of the big containers. The mac & cheese is just no bueno. Not enough cheese sauce, leaving it kind of dry. The breadcrumbs dry it out more. And it was barely tepid (though everything else in the bag was at the perfect temp...). I tried heating it a bit to see if that helped with moisture and creaminess. It did not. Nutella shake...was a nutella shake. Wrapped and packed well. Breakfast quesadilla sounded so good in concept (I LOVE those things!), but their execution was a grilled onion bomb with an after taste of bacon grease. Great grilled onions! But couldn't taste the eggs or anything else one bit. My overall impression is that this is a place you're either gonna love at first bite, or need to try for a hot min to see which menu items work for you and which don't.
