This time, I opened it in the store, and it still did not fit. I immediately showed it to the employees at the register, and they could clearly see that the item did not fit as intended. Despite witnessing the issue, they refused to offer an exchange, refund, or any solution. The employee told me that I should have asked them to open it before purchasing, even though I had no reason to believe there was a problem with the product. I am very disappointed with the lack of customer service and unwillingness to stand behind the products they sell. Because of this experience, I will not be shopping here again and cannot recommend this store to others.

I'm a quilter and it is sad to see that so many of the fabric stores in the Birmingham area have closed in recent years. But that means that I have been shopping at Joann's more now than I ever did before. Joann's doesn't carry much designer quilting fabric, but it does have a good selection of cotton basics suitable for quilting. It also has a lot of notions and other quilting supplies that usually can be counted on to shore me up during a quilting "emergency"! Max, the assistant manager of this location, is wonderful. She's knowledgeable and friendly, and most of all--UNFLAPPABLE! She is a multi-tasking queen! It is not uncommon to see her at the fabric cutting center, answering the phone, fielding questions from staff, and helping customers find what they need. Joann's doesn't just carry quilting cotton. They carry a full range of fabric from apparel to formal wear to home decor to upholstery to cosplay, and much more! Beyond fabric and sewing supplies, this location also has a good inventory of supplies for other hobbies (painting, drawing, calligraphy, knitting, cross stitch, needlepoint, upholstering, jewelry making, etc.) and also seasonal holiday decor. The cherry on top is that they allow my dog Nash to shop in the store, as long as he is on his leash and minding his manners. Win win!!! That being said, this store *could* use some improvements--a deep cleaning, new layout, and better stocked shelves. I'm hopeful that these things will follow as Joann's recovers from its bankruptcy difficulties. The store got a new general manager at the beginning of the summer, but I've never seen him. I hope that he will step up the staffing levels, because that is what the store seems to suffer from the most--understaffing. It can take a LONG time to check out because there will often only be one cashier handling both the curbside orders and in-store transactions. Also, there is often a lot of incoming inventory stacked up in the aisles waiting to be shelved. It is clear that the number of people working each shift do not have bandwidth to take that on also. (That isn't their fault.) Joann's has my loyalty and I hope that they will continue to serve the greater Birmingham community for many years to come.

The way that I was talked to today from 2 employees and 1 being a manager they might need to think about hiring new people or closing down. The way you communicate with people is the key! The staff is RUDE, disrespectful, on phones instead of cleaning up things so that they can put out new merchandise. So many boxes everywhere and you can't even push a cart down the aisle. I understand people want things but hire over night employees to come stock or take away the old stuff. IT is a fire hazard!!!!

I answered a call from Walgreens today and a recorded message started telling me there was a delay…read morein my prescription.....then it would repeat that ....again....and again.....and again. I called back. I was holding on the phone.....I did this for 40+ minutes and a real live female person answered the phone and said I will be with you in just a minute...after a while....I was disconnected and transferred to no-mans land where no one would answer the phone. I called back and now10 minutes, there are once again 2 customers ahead of me. And the computer lady keeps saying she is sorry to keep me waiting! Actually, if there were a minus.....I would give a minus 100. It is sad. This used to be a vibrant store full of staff who could help you in a reasonable time. The voice mail system is terrible. The store is under staffed. You walk in there and can't find anyone except in the pharmacy. There are still 2 callers ahead of me. Actually, I have been moving my prescriptions to another pharmacy...but I missed this one. I may be holding on this phone until my next birthday ...which is in November!!! and there are still 2 callers ahead of me. It is now 26 minutes holding. And they will be with me shorly. This is not a good experience. Their staff is assisting other customers. Please pick up the phone and don't hang up on me again! There are still 2 callers ahead of me.....at 32 minutes holding. As for the women's clothing, I do think their target audience is either juniors (14-16 years old) and seniors (over 65). I never seem to really find any clothes I like here. One thing I do like is their jewelry selection. I'm looking for chokers at the moment, and they are sure hard to come around in the other stores I've gone to. Since JCpenney has a huge junior's section, I knew I could find it here. I ended up purchasing a choker/necklace set here for $24. I do think they spike the price of their items up front. I know just by looking at that price, I wasn't going to be paying that, and luckily it did turn out to be 50% off. So deals are expected here. I know department stores like this are slowing dying down, and in my opinion I don't see this particular location lasting 5-10 more years. When I go to the Galleria, I usually hit up Macy's, Von Mauer, and Belk....so I do think JCPenney has room for improvement.

After checking out the Riverchase Galleria, I decided I was going to stop at JC Penney first! Since they appear to be one of the anchor stores, I was dropped off there by my Uber driver and walked in. The familiar feel of a JCP came back to me quickly and I walked through their large store to check out their merchandise. JCP, in my opinion, always had a great selection of quality clothing items at very good prices. Their sales were also really good, from what I last remembered. As I checked out their self-help shoe section, I noticed they had several nice pair marked down, 50 percent off! What a deal! These were for shoes that would have costed me an arm, a leg and a foot back in Hawaii! It was less than the price of an arm here! The sales here were pretty darn good, and I noticed a bunch of anxious customers standing around the sales counters, asking for "coupons." I found out they had a sale going where Sales Associates were handing out additional $10 off coupons to customers, and some of these customers were down right rude! But I also noticed how the Sales Associates were all friendly and patient with them as they dealt with their demands! After checking out their souvenir section, most of the Alabama products were on sale and with the additional discounts, worth every penney! Get it?! I opened another JCP credit card account and was given an additional 15 percent off all day shopping spree for doing that, plus, was able to get deferred billing (no interest if paid in full within a year) because I went off! Not attitude wise, but shopping-wise! An overall pleasant shopping experience here! Praises to the several Sales Associates I dealt with, who were all very pleasant and courteous, despite the demands of the impatient customers! Free ample parking in the private parking lot there and a large variety of items in-stock for you to choose from! If you're ever in Alabama, you've got to visit this place, if only to reminisce!

They are always great about checking the battery charge, installing headlights, and pretty much being all around nice people. I'm sure I will come here again whenever I need something small done on my car.
