There was no cleaning around the nails -- the tech just used his own nail to scrape the contour a bit. I chose a light color for my toes and a different shade for my hands. I accidentally smudged one nail, and the tech kindly fixed it. The main issue, however, was how rude and loud the owner (I believe) was when I mentioned that the lighter polish felt too thick, especially after three coats. He proceeded telling me off -- quite loudly, so everyone in the salon were privy to his tirade -- that my nails were "too thick" and that "all light colors are thicker." I've had my nails done many times in my life before and have never been told that my nails were too thick or that lighter colors are always thicker. This experience made the whole visit uncomfortable. Definitely not a relaxing or welcoming one.
