Conversion 9/12/2022 2:00 PM Preliminary Injunction Cruise, Associate Justice David Licht Courtroom 15 Civil Your Complaint * On 4/29/2023 an agreement/contract was struck for work to install a new roof on my home at 88 Gloucester St Providence, RI 02908. $13000 for a new roof and all materials by DCJ Landscape Services with a 10year warranty Invoice # 9995 with address of po box 440 Seekonk, Ma. The work completed on/or about early May 2023. On or about 7/25/2023 we saw shingles lifting.. A person with knowledge of roofing came to our house and told us all the requirements / components on the installation on my roof were missing. Ice @ water, tar paper, flashing, drip edging, no cap on apex of roof or dormers, the siding that had been removed and cracked was used to hide the shingles under the second floor bathroom window, on the bulkhead the shingles were already lifting . We notified Mr. Catoia and his son immediately that day to tell him to come to our house and see what the roofer in his employ had failed to do correctly. We have numerous text messages from David Catoia Jr. debasing our claims . On Saturday 8-1-23 Mr. David Catoia Sr. 401-300-9228 401-451-1517 451-2622 603-7780 came to our house with paperwork with a new date 8-1-2023 written on NEW letterhead with the name D&D Landscape Services. 710 Branch Ave Providence, RI 401-603-7780 He told us another roofer would come to our home name Tony Feliciano and redo the entire roof. The work was started on the back of the house.. it was stripped and some ice & water was applied to a small section on either side. At 1AM on August 21 we discovered water pouring through the downstairs bathroom light fixture, the bathroom was flooded. We discovered that there had been a heavy downpour of rain for about 3 hours, when we went outside we discovered the roofer had left our roof uncovered bare wood. I phoned the roofer Tony Feliciano to tell him my bathroom was flooded and the upstairs eves, located under the uncovered roof were flooded and the wood and insulation was soaked. He never attempted to come to the house at that point and said he would come in the morning. He did not arrive early as promised and we needed help immediately so we called The restoration company DAI . They came within the hour to see all the damage and notified our insurance of what had to be done ..We were told not to let the roofer touch the roof until all inspections were completed by insurance adjusters. When the roofer finally arrived at 11:00 am (10 hours later)he flipped out because the restoration crew was here setting up equipment needed to dry out my house doing a complete estimate of all the damage. We explained to him to contact Mr. Catoia Sr. that work must stop temporarily until the insurance adjusters came to write an estimate of all the damage. At This point I told him to just bring all the materials we had paid for included in the contract written by his boss the contractor Mr. David Catoia Sr. and put them in my driveway. At this point when we asked that all the required materials written into the contract on 8-1-2023 and paid for in advance $13,000, insuring that ALL materials would be available, in MY possession to be used when the insurance company gave us permission to allow the workers on the roof. At this point there was questions as to Mr. David Catoia had insurance. At this point Tony started screaming at my wife refusing to return with all our materials. He left in the truck and refused to deliver said materials. We next contacted The Contractors Mr Catoia Sr. and Mr. Cartoia Jr. demanding all materials be delivered to our home and put in our driveway. Mr. Catoia has repeatedly refused to give us all the materials we paid for in the signed contract. Albert R. If you want quality work, excellent communication, and ease of mind, hire Build Pros. We originally wanted to have our microwave vented out (rather than circulating air and grease in the kitchen) and add a second banister to the stairs to the basement to make them more safe for our growing toddler. We were also considering having our spare basement bathroom remodeled. The bathroom really wasn't very functional because it was built in pieces (so the gross tiny stall shower wasn't even in the bathroom). That was a big job, and we wanted to get a quote for all three pieces. The first two jobs were too small on their own, so we hired Build Pros for all three. They were amazing to work with, and the work they did was the highest of quality. The team was extremely communicative, and we always knew when they were coming, what they were doing next, and what to expect. Their spreadsheet system made it really easy for everyone to keep track of what we had selected, costs, etc. They helped us a ton with design decisions, made recommendations when appropriate, and made sure we were happy with absolutely everything before moving forward. Our house stayed unbelievably clean, given the level of work they were doing, throughout the process. Mike and Rouben were fantastic at reimagining the layout of our bathroom, taking all of our priorities into consideration. John, their carpenter, is a master. We went way over budget, but a lot of that was my fault. I wanted a bathroom that was functional, but the more we talked and designed, the more I realized we actually could get a really *nice* bathroom that wasn't just functional, but high end. They did a bunch of other random things in the area too. We just were so happy with their work, and they were already there, so we asked them to fit in a few small things and they were awesome in getting those done too (adding a couple outlets in the adjacent home gym, replacing our outdoor water spigots, etc.). We are extremely happy with the final products. We even had a water problem shortly after they finished. They fixed it swiftly with no charge. It might have been a part issue or a labor issue, and so in the beginning it was unclear whether we were going to have to pay for repairs right away. I would have been very disappointed if they had charged us, and have all the more confidence in them since they fixed it and stood by the work and warranty. The only real negative was that sometimes when we had to make a decision, and the team gave us a quick "off the cuff" estimate about how much a few different options would cost, the estimate was really a fair amount lower than estimated. That contributed to some of our cost increase, but in the end I think we would have made the same decisions regardless. We're extremely happy with the final products. We even hired them again and they're starting work at my mother-in-laws house this week! I'm already dreaming of putting an addition on our house in the future, and we will hire them absolutely if/when we do this.
