SCAM! I have purchased lots of furniture over the years from independent stores and NEVER did I have a merchant refuse to return any of my money. Never! Please note - I have NONE OF THE MERCHANDISE CHARGED TO TO MY CREDIT CARD IN MY POSSESSION I'm out of $853.85. Caution! Do not sign a design contract with or give your credit card number to this guy. Tell him to you will come to the store or send someone to represent you and ask for a receipt. He will charge your card WITHOUT speaking to you with the itemized amount nor will he provide a receipt for any of the charges. I had no idea, once I said "yes to pictures of items" to order, I was liable for the 50% DEPOSIT charged to my credit card REGARDLESS if I changed my mind or DID NOT LIKE THE DESIGN. He also refused to refund money for an item he had in the store. Additionally, he overcharged me $20 for two vases, I paid $49 EACH and the tags read $39 - I have included a picture. When you ask him for a receipt to review itemized charges, he will tell you that it must be in your spam folder. Most designers I have worked with send an estimated itemized bill or pending itemized invoice AND WAIT FOR YOUR VERBAL OR WRITTEN (EMAIL, TEXT) APPROVAL before charging your card to finalize the deal. There were five separate charges on four separate days but only one invoice with all charges were submitted to Mastercard to appeal my chargeback request. My bank agreed with me, that this is not normal merchant procedures.. But oh well, he must need the money more than me - well that is a given no reputable store will have to charge your card for 50% deposit and refuse to refund ANY OF YOUR MONEY. Or he's used to dealing with individuals with endless money - I don't. I said I liked two pillows in his store, he said do you want them as I was running out the door and within minutes he had charged them to my card without providing the cost - $186 for two pillows. Nothing is returnable and all he provides is a store credit minus 30% restocking - yes even for the item he did not order. Who wants to have a memory of being taken advantage of? He provides real meaning to BUYER BEWARE! I loved his store and would have become a regular customer not caring about the higher than normal costs. Now there is no trust! He lost a great customer, so I am now warning others - please shop here with caution. Oh in addition to the lack of a refund, there is also a 30% chargeback fee, so if you choose the store credit, that store credit is less 30%. RIP OFF! I learned an expensive but valuable $853.85 lesson. But I'm good! Karma is coming to him in three weeks to 18 months. Remember in life what you put out there is what you get back. I lost money, but I still have my dignity, ethics, and integrity. Also, he shops Wayfair, my neighbor found all the items - tables - lamps and ceiling fan - everything, he sold me on the WAYFAIR website at CHEAPER prices - read rip off artist. Any review after this review is probably a fraud (a friend of his), so read this response and his response with extreme caution. I'm considering small claims court and alerting print and social media. In the interim, I'm going to let karma, the universe, and this review remind him the importance of superior customer service. read more

My appreciation for Jason from J. Michael Scott Interiors expands beyond just a vendor doing a great job. Jason became an integral part of our project and saved us from many headaches and arguments. As busy couple, we undertook a remodeling project that started two years ago. When it was time for decisions on finishing touches and pieces to furnish the home we rebuilt, we were out of steam and patience. That's where Jason came in. He listened to our goals, our children's goals for their rooms, our budgetary restraints, and even our angst, and delivered possibilities for us to look at in a timely manner. There was not one option that he presented that we felt would not have worked, so the decision making process was so much less painful than I could have ever imagined. I met with a couple other designers before finding Jason, and I am so grateful we found him. The others I felt didn't grasp what we needed from them, wanted to charge ridiculously high fees, or was put off by the budget I presented them.
