Walking into this place, I expected to receive sub par fried bar food. I was very hesitant to order anything with vegetables (as that is not typically a bars specialty). But the very friendly waitress assured me they were good, and she was right! I was very pleased with my chicken gyro and broccoli side. My husband had the fish and chips. Great food, great service, and reasonable prices to boot!

Tony and I stopped at JNG Grill that has been open since 1947 to grab a quick drink and to check out a Local Favorite Spot. We were greeted at door and seated quickly towards the back. Not crazy about seat placement because I was unable to get some quality photos. Place was busy, Football on all TVs and Noisy chatter everywhere. Tony grabbed a beer (Bud on draft special $2.50 pints) I ordered a cup of French Onion Soup and a Pepsi. Waitress was sweet & attentive & soup was exactly what I needed Hot and Yummy!! Our check was slightly under $10, left her $2 tip and we were off for some additional adventure

Our family stopped in for lunch before a wedding in the area one recent Saturday afternoon. We were able to squeeze 6 into a table that looked like it was meant for 4. Our server was great. She was prompt and didn't miss a beat taking our orders and getting our meals out quickly. I had a chicken wrap with fries and my bf had an Italian sandwich. I thought my wrap was extremely filling and I couldn't finish the fries. My bf thought his sandwich was a little small, but he can eat a good bit. The restaurant itself had a nice hometown, local bar/tavern vibe with a few tvs over the bar. The bathrooms were small, but clean. The parking lot is oddly shaped and not too many cars can fit along the side. Half of our party parked out back. For the area, this is definitely a top pick for a meal. The food and prices are great! read more

Quiet Tuesday evening, just stopped in for dinner. Terra was very attentive and friendly. Food came out very quickly and was good. We sat outside on the terrace. I noticed others were contacted by management. I'm 57, and my husband is 64. This could have turned out badly! After 30 years of visiting this resteraunt. Never again. It was the dressing on the Reuben Sandwiches that made us sick. I called and let them know to PLEASE throw it out. My son and his girlfriend had the same Sandwiches but did NOT use the dressing as they don't like any Mayonnaise type spread. I called 3 days later to see if it was thrown out. Great food at a cool bar. In New Philadelphia for one night only. Looking for late night food. Found several options but wanted a local place, not a chain. Glad I found this bar. Building is quite old and has a significant history to the area. Decorated inside with tons of old sports photos from the region. Tables were nicely spaced in the dining area with privacy dividers between many of them. Had the chicken cheesesteak. Nice sandwich with lots of onions, mushrooms, chicken all covered in a good melted cheese. Hand cut fries were incredible. Good crispness on the outside and pillowy softness inside. Excellent and had more than enough of them served. No skimping on portion size. The rum runner drink with several kinds of rum and some fruitiness was quite good. Again, huge serving size. Waitress, Kayla, was super nice and attentive without being obtrusive. Highly recommend! read more

Burgers are HUGE, juicy, & FULL OF FLAVOR! Hand cut fries are ALWAYS GREAT! Do not recommend the onion rings, they appear as average frozen ones small in size. The French onion soup is a favorite of mine for flavor, BUT, sadly they use croutons instead of a thick slice of bread, consequently the cheese doesn't always remain on top & brown nicely. We will return. (I was hungry & forgot pics this time!) read more

After reading previous reviews, we decided to stop at JNG. Spoke to a local, regular customer on our way in, who recommended the reuben. Well, reuben was delicious, so was the fried chicken sandwich and Italian sub. Atmosphere is comfortable. Waitress Payton made a fresh pot of coffee for us. Wonderful experience!! read more

Not the JNG Grill of the past. Menu is extremely limited. No more fresh cut fries - replaced with brew city fries. Only 3 burgers offered. We went in expecting to choose from old favorites, but everything is totally different. We won't be back. Food was OK - nothing special for the price. read more

Service is horrendous! Understand it's Fathers Day so we made a reservation for 1 pm. Our party of 6 was seated at 1pm. Waited patiently and at 1:25 asked if someone was going to wait on us and was told someone would be right out. At 1:33 still no waitress. Again asked if someone was going to wait on us. At 1:40 still no waitress asked again!!!! At 1:45 still no waitress so we let them know we were leaving. Again someone will be right out. Told them too late and left!!! This place is one of my favorite restaurants! Their pizza here is delicious,the crust of the pizza is crunchy and not chewy it's not too crispy or too chewy it's perfect.Their burgers here are amazing,the meat is cooked well done and the toppings on the burger are very fresh especially the fries. read more

Stopped here after my son's special olympics bowling tournament. It was excellent. Friendly staff. The food was amazing. We had the 5,4,3,2,1 appetizer and cheese quesadilla. They were wonderful. my son got a bacon cheeseburger with home cut fries. My husband got grilled chicken Parm. I got a fire baked pizza. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. Very nice staff! Very loud. Do not expect to be able to talk over the music. I would understand that had it been evening. Took over 35 minutes after ordering to get baked penne. Penne was gummy - like it wasn't real pasta. Little flavor. Rest was good. Plenty of TVs to watch. Might be a fun place but avoid the penne. read more

A favorite and where the locals go. When someone asks for a recommendation of local bar and grill, I always recommend JNG. Historic, fun and lively. Clean with delicious food and wonderful service. We love to look at the memorabilia and old booze signs that pepper the walls throughout. Great place for groups. This is our go to place when we can't decide where to go. Menu is vast but not overwhelming. I have tried many things but keep going back to the peanut butter bacon burger and the pizzas(very unique recipe) Staff is friendly and efficient. Great people, great place. I proudly recommend JNG. read more

I have not tried the food here, so this review is only based off a few drinks that I tried. This is a hole I the wall bar, which I happen to enjoy quite a bit. It is very small with a bar area and also tables. The bartender was really nice. She was fast and seemed to know her way around the bar really well. I ordered the fish bowl hurricane and it was great! Very strong and well worth the price. I would definitely try this place again. They have happy hour specials that are awesome too. read more

BIG oval slices from a round Tuscan loaf. It was heaven. Honestly this was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. As an added bonus it was enough for two meals. I liked the place and would return.

Customer was offered a replacement; which she chose and then was charged for it. Another customer received the wrong salad dressing. Two others had missing items. Needless to say, when the checks came, there were too many issues to be addressed here. Management should have been able to address the issue of short staff without customer service suffering. I've been dining here for 30 years at least but today I was absolutely blown away! The Boom Burger was outstanding! They were very busy today at lunch but with our service, you never would've known it. i always appreciate good service, but today was beyond exceptional! The young lady that took care of us, Ms Peyton, hope I spelled her name right, was perfect and constantly checking on us. However, what made her special was her personality and smile! Food was not near as good as in the past. Burgers were sent out pink when we had ask for well done. Cami-melt was mediocre. Even after it was brought back out. We also had a family of mice running around on the patio. Salad was much smaller than when we have been there in the past. read more
