I tried Gavin's for the first time with a group of co-workers for lunch. We were seating very quickly and our server was super amazing and accommodating. I tried the cheesy bread with the Alfredo sauce as my starter and was amazed at the size and presentation. Each slice of bread was about 7 inches in length each. There was a total of 4 pieces that we all shared. Next, my Cobb Salad came and it had everything that it should have and more. I enjoyed about 60% of it and took the rest with me. The rest of my crew enjoyed their meals also. Definitely should be tried for lunch. Many people inside were talking about the Margaritas, but that will have to be after work hours the next time. read more

Love the location in the historical building on the square, and the ambiance is great. My GF and I loved trying to read all the funny signs while we were waiting for our food. Although they were busy and lively on a Friday night, the noise level wasn't overly loud so we could still talk and hear each other. The service and food was excellent also. I had the Roadhouse Burger with Sweet Potato Fries and the GF got a Sirloin Salad. While the regular fries on her salad were a bit disappointing and soggy, we both agreed the sweet potato fries were some of the best we'd ever had -- just the perfect combination of crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Will definitely plan on trying it again whenever we are back in town. read more

Updating my review of this place. So tonight we decided to stop at Gavin's on the Square on our way back home from Amish Country. They stuck us at a tiny table right next to a table with a bunch of people. No thank you. So we moved. My husband and I ordered the same thing as the first time we were here a month ago. Except he got cole slaw in addition to his burger and fries, and I ordered a side salad in addition to my burger and fries. Food comes out - and NO fries for me. The waitress says she'll bring them out. Almost 30 minutes go by and still no fries. She stops by our table and says "There's two orders ahead of yours". What the he**? My husband gives me his fries and was fine with having to wait. We finish our burgers and still no fries. Also, this server never even bothered to ask to refill our drinks until she brought the check. You need to find better people. Because she sucked big time. To reiterate my last review, the food IS really good. The prices are reasonable; however, the service is inconsistent. Depends on who you get. Our first impression: My husband and I ate dinner there for the first time a couple of days before Christmas 2024. Everything was excellent..the service, food, reasonable prices, atmosphere. Stiff competition for worst food and worst service I've ever had all in one experience. Waiting 15 minutes for a waitress to get our drink orders after being seated feels pretty excessive, considering it wasn't very busy. Waiting another 10 minutes for said drinks to arrive is another service milestone so many restaurants hope to avoid, yet this feels like business as usual for this Establishment. Onto the food. When you order an appetizer, it generally comes before your meal, and I mean roughly 10 to 15 minutes before your meal. Not 3 minutes. Buffalo Chicken Pizza was so-so. Whiskey sour tasted, well, sour. Sour as in hold all the ingredients except the sour mix sour. I ordered a burger and it came out burned to a crisp. The only thing you could taste was that charred beef nastiness that lingers in your mouth and you can't get rid of unless you have ginger. So I ask for another one. No big deal, not everything is always perfect. Burger 2 arrives maybe 10 minutes after my girlfriend has finished eating. I look at the burger, and much to my surprise, this one was charred and somehow covered in grease at the same time. This is grill sorcery, the likes of which I've never seen before. It tasted awful. I set it aside and told the waitress it also was burned and I was no longer interested in having an entree at this point. She said that was fine and that she would remove the burger from the bill. I had never asked for my burger to be removed from the bill, but the gesture was appreciated. Here's where the #1 in customer service ranked by JD Power and associates comes in to play. Another waitress comes to the table and tells me that she discussed the quality of the burger I ordered with the kitchen staff and her manager and that I would in fact have to pay for the burger, despite both of them being charred to the extent of one Frederick Krueger. No manager ever came to speak to me about my meal or the decision to which they came to in regards to the bill. My issue is you told me you would remove it, then it gets uno reversed, and you can't even have the manager come speak to me? Even McDonald's will have a manager speak to you regarding your experience. If a manger did come to speak to me, and would have explained to me the rationale as to why I needed to pay for a crispy burger, as to not being able to take a loss on 2 meals, I would have understood and paid no problem. However, this was not the case. Because of the shortcomings of the grill cook who messed up twice, a waitress making a claim she couldn't stand by and the lack of a manger actually speaking to me, I am less than satisfied with my experience. I begrudgingly paid the bill in full. If you say you're going to do something to make it right for a customer, stand by it, cut your losses and move on. Due to the excellent dining experience I had, I cannot in good conscience recommend this place to anyone unless you're a masochist who enjoys overpriced and overcooked food on a Saturday night. read more

Our waitress Brooke was just awful, forgot about us most of the night. took her almost 25 minutes to get our order then everyone else around us was served and our food took forever. I asked our server Brooke for a side of ranch well apparently a teacher isnt smart enough to remember the ranch and never even came back to check on us. We had to ask for the check because she was so absent. Maybe she should have been less worried about a day off of teaching and more focused on her current task. read more

Paid extra to get Mac n cheese (menu said $3 but it was really $3.95), basically boxed Mac and cheese with their cheese on top, wouldn't recommend the Mac n cheese. Tried Gavin's today for lunch because it's within walking distance from my office, I got the special today, a fish sandwich with fries for like $7.00 Not bad at all, could have used a little more salt in the batter on the fish and a little less seasoning on the fries. I'm not a fan of the decor, I felt the signs on the wall with the "cute sayings" like "Tip You Bastards" & "Sex is like credit, some people get it some people don't" only served to distract customers and they were covered in dust. I had a VERY nice bartender taking care of my named Cindy and she was GREAT! But she was the only person working the entire front of the house (Bar, three seating sections with 2 tables with customers in each, and the patio outside.) and she clearly could have used a little bit of help. My big gripe here is the answer I got when I inquired about what makes their martinis which were being RAVED about on foursquare so special... I asked a simple question, "What's in your Blu Snow Cone Martini?" To which I got the answer from one employee who was leaving, (after listing three REALLY basic & assumed ingredients) "....and a few other things." Then my girl Cindy came along and I figured since Tips on Foursquare mentioned her by name as being awesome surely she can fill in the mystery blanks for me, right?! NOPE. They aren't allowed to tell you what's in ANY of their martinis because they're all original recipes. Sorry guys, but I don't drink where I can't trust you to tell me what I'm drinking! It's not a secret, I can watch you make the drink myself! Learn to stop trying to protect your proprietary drink mix which I'm sure someone else has already come up with before you..... and start focusing on telling me the story about what goes into the drink & why that makes it special! Dirty, poor service (one bartender taking care of inside, bar, and patio), flies, and really food that you can get anywhere. The only two good points for this place were location as its right in the square with great scenery of the small town and price. But you truly get what you pay for and its not worth it. There are many other places that have 4-4.5 stars nearby and we should have left when we sat down and it took 10 minutes to get a menu (see above about bartender). I don't blame her and she was nice enough, but really management, one person in a very large restaurant during lunch to cover everything. Once I was able to lift the menu off the sticky table and open the sticky menu, I decided to play it safe with a burger as I truly was concerned with cleanliness. Just Meh. Good amount of food for the price. The food has good flavor and seasoned well, but server got our sides mixed up and we were the only people in the restaurant. The cole slaw has a sweet and sour sauce that is ok, but was not noted that it was not your normal slaw. Over all it was pretty good lunch. The music and atmosphere really made it. Above average bar food with extensive choices. Gavin's wrap is pretty delish but doesn't make for great leftovers. Even a few hours later. It's pretty massive so either come with an appetite or it's suitable to share. The sweet potato fries are baked and not fried. They come with a nice heap of cinnamon butter on top. Mmmm. Jalapeño cheese balls should not be mistaken for jalapeño poppers, like I did. They're deep fried cheese balls with jalapeño flavoring. Beer selections are pretty limited. Martinis seem to be their thing. Service is a little on the slower side. Overall 3.5 as it exceeded my expectations for a small town bar. read more

I really want to like this place and my experience was not that bad that I am going to try it again. My wife and I just moved and tried this for the first time. The decor was definitely sports bar/local place that seems like it is a bar first, and a restaurant second. It was extremely loud as music was blasting out the speakers. Wow, that was ridiculous. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger and sweet potato fries and the wife had burger and fries. The menu said 100% 1/2 pound Angus burgers, I had high hopes. Well, we ordered and waited, and waited, about 40 minutes and we received our orders. The fries were ok but the burger was well-done. I thought it was just mine but the wife's was as well. The bun was great but the hamburger patty was dry and just not good. It is a shame to have a 100% Angus and fry the life out of it. Our waitress was ok but seemed over worked and only checked on us to give the bill. My water glass sat empty for 20 minutes, oh yea, we had to wait a while just to get our bill. Again, I want to like this place, but not sure I will go back. For the $20 we spent on 2 burgers I could have gone to Wendys and had a much better burger. read more
