Amazing! JR's catered our daughter's wedding this past weekend at Pine Haven Venue. As mother of the bride I was a little nervous how it was all going to turn out. I just moved here to the Somerset area and this town just so happens to have the best darn barbecue restaurant in ALL states. Hands-down the best I've ever had anyway. We went there on a Friday for lunch right when they opened and within 15 minutes there was a line almost out the door. We tried the pulled pork sandwich and rib special. Best BBQ I have had in SD! I had the hot link sandwich and the others had the pulled pork sandwich and they are really critical of BBq being from Nc but raved about the pork at JR's. The hot link was excellent one of the best I e had out of a restaurant and boy serve genius on the sandwich!!! We all had the smokehouse beans as a side and an extra side of slaw which was actually home made. All the sides were good but what was excellent were their self serve garnishments of thick cut pickled that had a slight bite and a good mild garlic flavor and the quick pickled onions which I never eat non cooked onions but I couldn't stop with these. I know in the future I can't resist the hot link so when I want to try other items I guess I'll just have to get a combo plate. read more

Moist and tender with a little smoke. The pork ribs are some of the best that I have eaten. Served dry, as ribs should be, as to be able to taste the meat. Next was the smoked turkey. I do not know how a piece of white turkey can be so tender and juicy. The beef brisket was good, but not the best that I have tried. The two sauces that were served on the side were good. While the pulled pork was great (moist, tender, with bits of bark), the smoked turkey was hands down the best we have ever had, this From someone who has eaten their fair share of BBQ and babysat a few briskets, butts, and birds in the smoker. OMG!!! I HAD NO IDEA I LOVED BBQ. I've been to dickeys, they are the taco bell of BBQ. J.R's is amazing the brisket had a good ratio or fat and meat unlike dickeys were you get an entire bite of fat.
