Having recently moved to the area, we were on the prowl for the best Mexican food. We had tried two restaurants but hadn't quite found our spot ...UNTIL we found Jimenez Taco Shop. To start, the restaurant has a fun cheery atmosphere and is super clean! The staff was very friendly and explained a couple menu items, such as the Viking Fries and Viking Burrito, which I'm sure are quite popular with the high school students across the street. My daughter had carne asada fries, while I opted for the chicken fajita protein bowl. Both were delicious, generous portions and super fresh! They were also very accommodating in getting our picky order right. If your looking for excellent, authentic Mexican food, look no further! Note- restaurant is hidden next to Stacked by Vallero. We were working in the area and during a meeting I asked my client where was a good taco restaurant in the area... this is where we ended up. I played it safe and ordered two tacos one de asada and the other de cabeza... The lady who helped was very attentive to us. The place was clean and there were nice pictures on the wall. Got the asada fries with a taco and was served with some of the smallest portions of Mexican food I've had in my life. I feel as if they forgot the authenticity of the food and was mediocre at best for the price they charged me, the food was very bland and the asada lacked a lot of seasoning, all I really tasted was the tortilla and the onions. The service was decent and the inside was well decorated however if you are coming here for good Mexican food I wouldn't recommend it. read more

The standard in Asada fries! I've been getting Asada fries here for years. They do a great job, and aim to please. When I call the sweet lady that answers knows my order: I say "Asada fries" and she replies with "extra avocado?" and it's always a yes. Their verde sauce is always fresh and on point. I've never had a meal I didn't love from J's! The shop is decorated festively, and they have one of those mix/match soda fountains where you can choose from dozens of options. Got 3 carne asada tacos and 3 shredded beef taquitos. The Taquitos were amazing and tasted very fresh! The tacos were not bad either.

I work in the area 1 day a week and I look forward to eating fresh style Mexican food days in advance. Ordered the Viking Fries and a Chicken Quesadilla. Very disappointed with both items. The fries were limp and not crispy. It was supposed to have little potatoes in it too, but they were not there. Great find tucked away in Kingsburg. Establishment was clean and comfortable. Asada tacos were really good. I ordered the Chile verde burrito and was pleasantly surprised how much I liked it. It had a well balanced trio of rice, cabbage with a light dressing and Chile verde. My husband got the spicy Viking Nachos, they were really good and had enough heat for him. Our friend ordered the shrimp tacos. He loved them. They are prepared in a light sauce, not fried. Staff was friendly and helpful. Even though it is more of a fast food restaurant, they checked on us several times to see if we needed anything and to clear away trash. Great experience in the quaint town of Kingsburg. read more

The food is always inconsistent and it changes depending who's cooking. Never get what I ask for and even the sizes change apparently. Got lied to saying a small was a large but just walked away because it wasn't worth it. I know a bad business and they need to up their work ethic and be consistent with orders. I went here to get a breakfast burrito. They were empty inside the restaurant, but busy churning out the to go orders. I placed my order and waited. My coworker and I have gotten many breakfast burritos from here and have always switched it up a little bit to try some of their different offerings and there flavors are consistently good. The only reason it wasn't a 5-star review is that they don't always have everything on their menu and they open kind of late for us. But if you want a breakfast burrito, then this is definitely worth a shot. read more

It's been awhile since we've been here so we thought we'd give them a try since our normal go-to place for tacos was closed for the evening. I ordered 2 carnitas tacos with rice and beans. Was told they were out of rice would be a 25 minute wait. I opted for no rice. I also ordered an asada taco and an al pastor taco. It took about 20 minutes for me to get the food (guess I should have waited for the rice). The beans had zero flavor, not even any salt and pepper. The asada wasn't flavored either, I was very disappointed. The al pastor was very spicy, that's all I could taste was the heat. My husband said the carnitas were ok. We are visiting Kingsburg for a baseball tournament and found this little GEM! Being from So Cal, Authentic Mexican that's Quality is a STAPLE, and we are very tough critics! This taco shop is quaint and a little hard to find, but well worth the time to find it. The service was friendly and helpful. We were greeted with a smile and a welcome right as we walked in. The establishment is clean and comfortably cool with fans. I had a small protein bowl with beans, cabbage, quinoa, cilantro, onions, and carne asada, with mild green sauce that's quite flavorful and filling. You have your choice of meats for the bowl. The homemade tortilla chips are crisp and addicting. The kids had the shredded chicken tacos and carne asada. It was a tie which one tasted better (according to them). We were here for a week. We got asada, pastor, carnitas, and Chile verde which all tasted like they were made the day before. Meat didn't have that nice char from a hot griddle. Both green and hot salsa were subpar. First things first, this place was kinda difficult to find. I think they ought to invest in a bigger sign if they want more business. Not a biggie though. okay...so upon walking in we were met with a Dodgers sign so we got a good vibe from this place. it's very clean and tidy and the menu was simple and the woman working there was friendly. all things we like. hubby got the carne asada burrito for 6.50 and I got the taco combo with chile verde at 7 bucks and we both got large drinks for 2 bucks a piece. I was pretty happy with the prices. The meal came with chips. The portion was not generous but it wasn't skimpy. They certainly load you up with meat which is a rarity in Mexican restaurants. my husband loved the carne asada in his burrito albeit the overall flavor was pretty dry. I was not impressed with my chile verde...the meat was pretty bland and not very spicy which is probably the main reason I order chile verde. Also all of their menu items come with cabbage which seems like a strange addition unless you're talking something seafood. The chips and salsa were not good, unfortunately. Very bland and flavorless. I was really hoping they would be the super star here since I really wanted to love this place. I was really looking forward to eating here based on the reviews and the cleanliness of this place but I guess we will have to keep looking for a good hole in the wall to get authentic Mexican. read more

So I have eaten here once before and the service was great. Fast, friendly, great food. I went today for lunch and ordered taquitos. I waited about 15-20 minutes while other people who came after me received their food. I asked for a refund because I needed to go back to work. The lady got offended and said that taquitos take a little longer due to new tortillas. That's perfectly fine and understandable, but some communication about the longer time wait to the customer could be beneficial and give them a choice at choosing another item. read more

So thrilled that this taco shop opened in town. It's just what Kingsburg needed. Prices are excellent, food is great, staff is wonderful, and the hours are accommodating. It's close to the high school and there's quite a rush during lunchtime, otherwise wait times and seating are generally good. The red salsa is too hot for me, but the green is just right. I typically have it on a trio of carne asada tacos, which are flavorful with a good amount of meat relative to onions, cabbage, and cilantro. They lightly fry the doubled corn tortillas to give them a crispness without turning them into a hard taco/tostada. With a drink this meal runs me about $8. So far I've had the chili verde, the carnitas, the chicken, and the aforementioned beef. All solid. I've also had their quesadillas (carne asada) and shrimp cocktail. Both really well executed. One small thing I really appreciate: unsweetened tea in the soda fountain. I hope it lasts! Same goes for the taco shop itself. All the best to this new and budding business. Stopped in after looking up 'tacos' on Yelp, on our way up the 99 from L.A. The shop is not far off the freeway in Kingsburg, which seemed like a well cared for town. It's a little hard to find, with no sign except on the door. They were offering a deal, 3 tacos and a soda for $5 and change, so I got 3 Tacos Al Pastor. My partner got an Al Pastor, chicken and carnitas. The tacos were a good size, made the right way with mostly meat and a little chopped cilantro,onions and lettuce for crunch and flavor, topped with sauce. The meat was good quality and tasted great! I got mild green salsa in top and it was perfect. The inside was clean and family friendly. The woman that took our order was friendly and smiley. The owner even came to our table and talked to us, he seemed like a really nice guy. You can tell this place is run with love and care.
