Downtown San Francisco has blocks and blocks of different businesses. It's hard to find lots of businesses in SF which had its start within the 1800's ( not the address number but the years of the 1800's) in San Francisco. My childhood apartment in San Francisco in the Mission was my backyard and shared the same backyard with the Elixir ( one of oldest bar in San Francisco established in 1858) .When it comes to the years of technology companies which have been in business for over 20 years it seems more like 20 dog years which is the equivalent to 100 human years. There a few businesses which are over 100 years old in San Francisco and fewer that are over 150 years old in human years. There is a family owned business in San Francisco which started over 150 years ago and still exists on Market street and it's called Patrick & Co. Walking down Market street the vibe of downtown San Francisco is a blend of vintage and modern with a mix of the future. Walking past the See's Candies and The Paris Baguette and inside Patrick & Co., you will see lots of office supplies . You will also find many fun items like calendars , cards , journals, stationaries, and interesting books. You will also see anything from Hello Kitty bags to stickers of animated animals and food. This is a good place to pick up some original design greeting cards along with the pens and markers. This place is over 150 years old in San Francisco and the business feels timeless. Plus, they typically have unique gift items and they overall have a feeling of times when people were people. This particular Patrick & Co. location was an absolute treat to browse through. Items that took us down memory lane. Gifts for people in our lives. And organizational tools that we didn't know we needed until we came upon them. Prices might be higher than a big box store but not overly expensive. Some of the merchandise was priced in-line with what I've seen elsewhere. It was a delightful time strolling through the aisles. If we lived in San Francisco, and nearby, I'd be a regular customer.

AAA came out with the best pricing, significantly lower than another local vendor we were using. I order supplies using their online catalog pretty much every week. The online catalog is easy to use. Our rep, Linda Kluber, had someone on her team help create a Laundry List for me with all the frequently ordered items on it, so I could just grab from the list instead of searching the website. The deliveries arrive next day. In two years, only two orders were missing items I'd ordered and they fixed the problem by delivering what was left out the next day. Also they are a green-certified company and have a lot of recycled products, too.

Well, yay for Yelp, and yay for Rocket Postcards. A couple of days ago I found out, via being copied on an e-mail, that my friend finangled to have my business' postcards included in gift bags at an upcoming runway show. Hurray! Except, wait...I have no postcards, and the runway show is in four days. In Los Angeles. Upon the recommendation of a friend (thanks, Mimi!) I called Rocket in desperation to see if they could shorten their normal three business turnaround into 1.5 days. Sure enough, they squeezed me in there, and it was easy to upload my artwork and submit my order. The people at Rocket are completely on top of business, calling me to let me know that my postcard needed a border, and so on. I was very impressed by the price of $95 for 500 cards, figuring that the result would be vaguely ghetto. But lo and behold, upon pick-up, I could hardly look away from the great quality of my shiny new cards. Don't be afraid of the location, either, parking is easy enough to find, although you can always have the cards shipped to you as well. In short, if you are vaguely considering having postcards made for you or your business, there is no reason whatsoever that you shouldn't use Rocket. In fact, if you don't, I will find you, and shake my fist at you. They're inexpensive, easy to deal with, fast, and the product is wonderful.

"Disappointment + Unprofessional" is the word that comes to mind when I think of Rocket Postcards…read morenow. I'd been printing with them very regularly since 2003 and had nothing but positive feedback for these guys and recommended them to everyone. Their work was top of the line, their time line matched my needs and they could do no wrong. But that changed in April 2009. Due to a glitch in their system the month of February 2009 (because of which their general automated order confirmation emails were not getting sent) I ended up getting charged for two extra orders that were not mine. When I reported this the day I received my order, they stated the two extra orders were not mine and I was told they would take care of it. A month later, the charges had not been removed. Contacted them again, got no response. Called them, got no response. Emailed them, got no response. Called them and got them, but was now told the charges were showing up as mine but they would look into it. Again, no response to my communications following that. After two months of politely reaching out to them and getting no response - I just gave up and my credit card company is now disputing the charges. Disappointment because after almost 6.5 years of being their loyal patrons, to receive the silent treatment is harsh. Unprofessional because the least they could do was reach out and communicate. I'm not looking to point fingers, I'm just wanting to get to the bottom of it and find out where the mistake happened and how to prevent it in the future. Me and my company have changed vendors since then and are quite happy with the new ones. Just sad that it is so hard for some establishments to be professional in both good times and bad times. Why the 3-star rating? Because after being their patrons for 6.5 years, I cannot make myself give them any less than a 3-star rating.
