I ordered the ... what is it...fresh roll? The one with the different colored fish on top? Also had the mussels. Truth be told, for me, it was alright. The roll didn't taste super fresh. Seasoning on the rice and imitation krab meat was so-so. The mussels were good. The restaurant is okay. It's kind of big, actually. Yeah! Came by J Sushi for dinner on a tuesday night and it was pretty busy. Our server was super attentive and quick. We had a couple handrails and a cut roll. I was glad i could get the handrails with easy rice but they did seem a bit small. The scallops had fresh flavor but the salmon skin was a little too crispy. My family comes here all the time, their poke bowls are the best! The spicy tuna poke bowl is our favorite, we get them at least once every two weeks. The spicy garlic edamame is also really good. Had a good experience ordering takeout from J Sushi. The service was extremely fast and the staff was very friendly. They add extra sauces upon request and didn't make me feel guilty about it and had a smile on there face the whole time. J Sushi is conveniently located in a town shopping center nearby and earned a repeat customer with their friendly service and fresh fish. Affordable sushi and rolls done well. With the wife away and me stuck at home studying, it was supposed to be a Shin Ramen Christmas. Blackout said nope, so I took to the streets. Chipotle closed, In-n-Out closed, McDonald's jam-packed. It was looking like generic takeout until I stumbled upon J Sushi. I had some subpar experience with sushi in Whittier, so I wasn't expecting much. Well, Santa gave me an early surprise this year. Yellowtail Handroll - 87 Perfect to whet up your appetite. A little green onion would have gone a long way, but I ain't complaining at $6. Baby Pacific Roll - 83 Can't go wrong with crayfish. Again, it would have been nicer with more crayfish and some other flavors, but solid as is. Philly Handroll - 86 Spicy Tuna Handroll - 73 It's nice that the roll is packed with fish, but the Spicy Tuna itself is very uninspired. Little "Spicy" to be found, just some random soy sauce flavoring. Yellowtail Sashimi - 89 I actually didn't order this, but when I saw the care gone into the cut, I decided to gobble it up anyway. That and I was planning to get the 12 pc Sashimi. Unagi Nigiri - 88 Had a nice sear to it. A tad thin, but again, it's $6. Yellowtail Nigiri - 86 Had some cracks but otherwise fresh and thick cut. This rating is based on the ramen alone! Ordered a tonkatsu "ramen" and it's the most hideous ramen copycat I have had anywhere in years. And I love ramen. The bowl came displaying a foamy top like they had just blended something into it to make it frothy, it felt slimy. The "shashu" was tough and with fake looking grill marks. The noodles were also completely off. The other parties at my table ordered sushi, it look decent. The veggie tempura was not light and crispy, kind of soggy in some areas. But the ramen ruined my whole experience in this place. Nothing like the J Sushi in orange. They seem to have a lot Business, maybe lack of better places nearby. read more

My favorite local sushi restaurant! FINALLY a reliable delicious sushi place in my neck of the woods!!! They just opened so they were having a few specials which I couldn't resist. I ordered my food to-go and they packed everything PERFECTLY. Like they separated out the sauce, baked scallops/crawfish from the deep fried cali roll so that the deep fried goodness stayed intact! Talk about attention to detail. Golden dragon roll 5/5 - this is basically a baked salmon roll, cali roll with baked salmon on top. The salmon was perfectly cooked and moist. I love J Sushi and used to go to location in Brea but once we moved were so excited to see one in Whittier! They are affordable, great quality of fish and food and always fast service. This place is really good and I think the prices are really good as well. I've only ever got the sushi but I'm sure their other entrees are good as well since it's usually pretty busy in here. They have $6.99 daily special rolls which I like to try sometimes. Mainly I come for the salmon sashimi which I think is really good especially for being in the Whittier area. read more

I come here for lunch occasionally and it does not disappoint! I always get the poke bowl and this time we tried the albacore delight which was yummy!
