The service and the aguas chiles was the best. I also tried the shrimp ceviche and it was delish. I didn't have much room so plenty went home. Portions are pretty appetizing. I also tried a chorizo taco and loved it. Great service and food.

Cute place in Whittier. Had their Paloma's to drink. Tried the mole fries. We were excited to know that we could do half red and green sauce. They brought us chips and salsa, the salsa was delicious.

Food- Not your run of the mill Mexican restuarant. Very much fine dining with the utmost of quality, freshness and unique flavor profile, but without the pomp and circumstances. To start, the complimentary chips and salsa was warm to the touch and with a delicate balance of spice and heat. My shrimp was cooked to tender goodness and given a numerous amount to quench my hunger. The flavors was one that I haven't had, but wanted more of. Spicy, but not overbearing. Hard to describe; unwittingly delicious. Rice - flavorful, but a bit chintzy. Service - attentive and not overbearing Cost - substantial appropriate. Cleanliness- show room quality Parking - 10-15 spots on site

Don't ask me how I ended up in Whittier, half the places I end up idk how. Anyway! I saw their menu first. Pork belly tacos! Say less! I went after an appt for lunch. Easy parking, not a lot of ppl at the time. I was promptly greeted and sat. Chips and salsa. Yum!!! I ordered the tacos, arroz verde and mocktail number 9. The salsa looked ferocious but she was legit. Flavorful, not a hard kick. I had to pace myself. The tacos y arroz came out together. Beautifully plated. I felt the spice but tried to deny it. 2nd bite and I couldn't. I couldn't eat them. The meat itself was hot. Marco and Octavio took care of me. SO patient and kind. I hate wasting food but also hate paying for something I can't eat. I explained and apparently it's kind of common. I was offered a remake wo the aioli. Sure. Sadly still no. The meat was just too hot. I went with a carnitas taco. The meat didn't do it for me but I could eat it, so I did. Some carnitas tastes gamey. This one did to me. That being said. I LOVED the mocktail! Not me pullin tamarind out of the bottom, cleaning them to the pit! It was so creative and unique. Well worth the price tag. The rice was also yummy. Service on point. I also want to try the fideo you add ingredients via checklist. I'm coming back, cute spot, I enjoyed my experience despite the fire. The service made up for it.

Stopped by Bizarra Capital after church and it was such a comforting, delicious experience. I had the fideo soup, which was excellent--simple, cozy, and very much reminiscent of home cooking. I loved being able to choose my own toppings, and the noodles were perfectly cooked and flavorful. We also ordered the chilaquiles, which were absolutely delicious--well-balanced, satisfying, and clearly made with care. To drink, the mango agua fresca was refreshing and naturally sweet, and the café de olla was warm, aromatic, and one of the best I've had. I've also been here for dinner, and the vibe completely transforms with live mariachi, making it a fun, lively spot for an evening out as well. Whether you're coming for a comforting brunch/lunch or a festive dinner, Bizarra Capital delivers. Highly recommend.

The pork belly tacos were great as usual but the past few times we've been here the guacamole has been drenched with lime juice. It is too overpowering and ruins the guacamole. Everything else is great, but I always had to remember to tell the server no lime juice. It' is gross. Also I told them plain pork belly tacos and they still came with sauce.

Our first time here.Actually my Son recommended this place. As soon as you walk in ( elegant, clean and the ambiance is so calming) I have to say customer service is 10/10! So we shared a couple of dishes,. Sopes Pork belly tacos carne asada plate and there famous Fideo! Everything was delicious!! And of course we had desert. So if you want a sugar rush... try the capirotada' . And yes I totally recommend this place

I've been coming here for over 10 years and its one of my favorite spots in Uptown Whittier. Its classy, the food is upscale, perfect for a date or a group. We hosted my sister and her boyfriend's birthday lunch this past Sunday. Everyone loved their food. The pescado ceviche is my favorite ceviche from anywhere! It is so fresh and flavorful. My sister had the ceviche mixto and she loved it. We shared a bunch of tacos including pork belly, potato, and the queso tacos. I adore the queso tacos. They are so simple but so full of flavor. The fried potato, cheese, and avocado are the perfect combination on the thick corn tortilla. I also love the hard shell potato tacos. They have an upscale twist on the classic kind you grew up eating as kid. The frijoles are amazing. My grandpa and I shared the regular frijoles de la olla. The rest of the group had the frijoles charros, which I was told have a nice kick. The house salsa is drinkably delicious. It's the best salsa around. As for the drinks, I prefer whatever is the Agua fresca for the day, and I add a shot of rum to it. My husband loves the guava daiquiri. We all had the best time Sunday, and service was great.

This is my go to place for Carne asada, Cochinita Pibil sopes, and their Chef's shrimp bowl (found on their appetizer menu). Food is consistently delicious with authentic Mexican flavors. You will also find that their chips salsa has a signature flavor that will have you wanting to garnish all their other dishes with as well.

I found this spot randomly on Yelp while husband & I were walking down uptown Whittier. We walked in & the place wasn't packed so we got seated right away. Place wasn't huge but spacious. Ambiance was a bit old. I noticed there were only 2 servers & the older man seemed to be the main server handling the bartending side & delivering the food. I give props for the old man who served us. He was friendly & you could tell he is passionate about his job. Food was served in bigger than expected portions & tasted authentic & delicious. We tried the ahi tuna crudo which was fresh & had a unique flavor that I've never had before. The ingredients in the dish balanced well together. The guac tasted homemade. The chimichangas were flavorful! The meat was so tender & the outside layer was soft & not crispy like we had expected. The fish in the taco was a bit bland but tasted healthy. The corn tortilla was different but good. The complimentary chips & salsa were good esp the salsa was addicting. We'd definitely would like to come back for dinner in the near future.

Wow! I'm so glad to have been introduced to this establishment. My boss and I came here for lunch and he's been coming here for over 10 years so I had high hopes. It recently went through a renovation a few years ago so it has a nice open floor plan. Service from Ricardo, a seasoned server at the restaurant for many years was exceptional. Now for the food. Prices are on the high side but let me tell you, portions are big and the quality is fantastic. The chips are some of the best I've had in a while and their salsa was super different. It wasn't a chunky red salsa but rather a smooth orange pure looking. I was a bit skeptical but at first bite, I knew I was going to eat every chip and last drop. I started with a pepino agua fresca and my goodness, it was the best I've had. Perfectly sweetened and you can tell the freshness of the cucumber was on point. We shared a couple of plates and both ordered are own tacos. Their menu has items most Mexican restaurants don't have so trust me when I say, you'll be trying new things. For dessert we went with plátano Fritos and a guava cheesecake which I forgot to take pics of, but both were delicious. Also, the chips and salsa was so good, I order a small cup and a bag of chips to go. I'll be back for sure to try more items on the menu.

Their moles are definitely worth trying. We've had the mole negro and the mole pipián, and both were delicious. The mole negro is a little sweeter, while the pipián has more spice. They also serve tortilla chips with mole, which is something I haven't seen at most Mexican restaurants. The reason I can't give 5 stars is because the service has been hit or miss. We've been here three times. The first time was shortly after they opened. The food tasted decent but came out cold, and the service wasn't the best. It was during the week and not very busy, so we figured they were still working out the kinks of being a new restaurant. After some time, we decided to give them another try. We went on a busy Friday night and were seated right away. The service was much better and everything seemed to be running more smoothly. We talked with the owner who was working as well as his wife who was bartending. They were both really friendly, and the owner seemed genuinely happy that we came back after we told him about our first experience. He even gave my husband a free beer after we moved to the bar to keep drinking after we finished our meals to allow for other guests to dine at the table we were. There was also a trio playing that night which added to the ambiance and was a nice way to end the work week. Our most recent visit was a couple of weeks ago for my husband's birthday. It was during the week and once again they were short-staffed. There was only one waitress taking care of the entire restaurant. She was so sweet and hustling the whole time but she was also bartending while serving every table. We definitely had to pack our patience because she was doing the best she could. Overall, Sol 626 has so much potential to be a great spot. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are what keep bringing us back. They need a little more staffing so the service can be as good as everything else.

Even though the restaurant is small and busy, we were seated right away, which was a great start. Our waiter Washington, was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and made our whole experience even better. The atmosphere was perfect too. They had music playing at just the right volume and a big TV showing the live Dodger game, which the kids loved. We started with chips and salsa. The salsa had the perfect level of spice for everyone at the table. The kids ordered horchatas and were excited about the unlimited refills (something you don't always see at other restaurants!). The drinks for the adults were just as impressive. My wife's watermelon margarita on the rocks was perfectly made. It was not overly sweet or syrupy like at some places. Our friends had the "El Jefe" margaritas, and they definitely didn't skimp on the tequila! For dinner, everything was a hit. The kids loved their meals. Albóndigas soup, shrimp tacos, and street tacos--all served with rice and beans. The adult dishes were just as good. The carne asada arrachera was cooked perfectly, the chile verde was full of flavor, and my chicken mole was delicious with a great balance of spicy and sweet without being overwhelming. The portions were very generous, and everything came with rice, beans, and both corn and flour tortillas. The only small thing I would've preferred differently was the chicken in my mole. I personally would've liked a leg and thigh instead of sliced chicken breast but the dish was still very good overall. What really stood out was the hospitality. At the end of the meal, Washington offered us "holy water"-house tequila shots on the house--and it wasn't cheap tequila either! Then after the bill came, he surprised us again with another round of "holy water". That level of generosity and care really impressed us. We also learned that the restaurant has been there 20+ years and is family-run by him and his siblings, which made the experience feel even more personal. You can tell they have a loyal customer base--one couple even said, "See you tomorrow Washington!" The only feedback we'd offer (coming from a customer service background) is that we noticed a few guests waiting at the entrance without being greeted, and one couple actually left the restaurant. A simple "Welcome, we'll be right with you" would go a long way. That said, it didn't take away from our experience. I immediately asked the waitress if it was missing the toppings, and she said "yes it's missing sour cream." She left and came back and said there was no more sour cream. A Mexican restaurant without sour cream? Oh! really wish I would've known that before ordering because, like I said, I love my flautas drenched in toppings. I would've ordered something else had I known there was no sour cream. I requested some extra guacamole to make up for the lack of sour cream. Keto taco - toasted/grilled cheese instead of a regular tortilla - needed to be done a little more on one side as the cheese wasn't quite toasty enough to stay in place to slightly resemble the shape of a taco. Bit hard to eat, covered my hands in grease. Asada tastes almost boiled, and this being my 2nd or 3rd time getting the Asada here, it consistently tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Unsure of meat quality or preparation, but there are no grill marks and it's a bit chewy. Same with the al pastor. Tripa taco was bizarre. Strips of flat skin instead of the usual roundish, cylindrical shape of tripa (intestine). Usually a saltier, fattier meat than asada, which is my preference but the one here was lacking in flavor and the texture threw me off a bit. Tripa can be chewy - unless requested extra done, which is how I normally order it - but there was no saving this tripa. I think it needs to be sliced differently, the cuts made it inedible. Brother shared some of his chorizo taco and it was the better of the bunch. Red chorizo, TJ style, although it was also lacking a teeny bit in flavor... onions and cilantro to the rescue! Still, mediocre. Salsas were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think the tortillas were homemade. Service was fine, cashier takes your order, dude at the counter was chill and had a friendly attitude. Seating was limited. Mostly bar style seating but the majority was in front of a window and it had so much heat trapped from the glass that it was kind of uncomfortable. Other seats are too close to the bathroom. Good for a quick bite or just pick-up orders. Wouldn't plan a sit down/dine-in visit. Parking is scarce and has really small spots, wouldn't come if you're driving a pick-up truck or anything like that. Food was reasonably priced, which is good, however; the food was lacking so I would not return.

Best mexican breakfast in town. If you are looking for a delicious home-style cooked meal this is…read morethe place. They have chilaquiles and platos with nopalitos, which is how you know it's good. A nice and small cozy place to come and enjoy a breakfast or dinner with family. Just good food and good service all around. The menudo and omelettes are really good.

Truly so disappointed !!!…read more First of all the server was super rude - trying to talk in Spanish like we didn't know what she was saying and got surprised when we answered in Spanish ! Second the menudo was super cold - I asked for pata and was charged for a bone and a bit of nervio (you can tell it was literally just bone ) like who would pay for nothing ? And why would you make someone pay for something Que se Mira Que no tenias !!! The chilaquiles - I was not given sour cream - la salsa estaba bien espesa !!! And then we asked for sour cream and they looked so surprised and still asked if we wanted some !!! The first server had such an attitude problem like she didn't want to be there ! Second server super helpful . I asked for the owner and apparently there's a new owner Porke I've never seen this owner before . I knew it was a kitchen staff member . The prices did not match what we were charged and a 4% fee in cards is crazy !!! Anyways overall I used to love this place before it became what jt is now sadly ! I was super happy to bring my family because the food has always been top quality and truly this time everything was super disappointing !!
