I was a bit nervous walking in because I can't speak Chinese, and my friend who I normally visit the salon with and translates for me wasn't free to come with me. However, Jason was friendly and still made me feel comfortable despite the language barrier, and asked a lot of questions to make sure he understood the color I was trying to achieve! Before dying the whole head, he also test-dyed small strands of my hair with two shades of copper (one light and the other slightly darker), so I can pick the option that I liked better and fit my face shade more. Enter Anson who was incredibly patient with me, looking through photos, colors, styles, learning how i usually style my hair and giving me really great advice on what direction to go. I came here and got my hair done by Kevin and a really nice lady (didn't catch her name). They went above and beyond for 11 hours straight to get my Asian black hair to a pretty ombré silver balayage color! It took 4 moderately long bleaching sessions. Both stylists were attentive, professional, and super nice. Kevin works magic! I also got an extra oil treatment for 30$ and it made my hair feel silky smooth! I've been to J1 Hair Salon twice for haircuts with Kevin. He always does a great job. I asked for a U-shaped trim that is neat with a bit of thinning at the ends. He was so meticulous and never rushed, and he was never pushy with selling more treatment. Can't recommend him enough! The prices are also very fair - a women's haircut for long hair is $35 including a wash and neck massage. First time I came here, my close friend recommended me to this salon she said it was really good, since the one that I usually go to close by closed on Mondays. So I gave this spot a chance. Andy and Anson helped me with my hair and it was much appreciated. The hair color I originally wanted I couldn't get it to that color because my hair was too damaged to get it there so this was what they did for me instead. They did an fantastic job with communicating with me and telling me each process that they were about to do with my hair. I made a reservation at 10:30am because of my own hair I finished around 7pm, it would've been faster if my hair wasn't so difficult. The first two times I went was their old location, they just opened up the new one a week ago. That's why I've decided to come back to them after one year, not only to get my hair done but check out their very instagrammable designed place. This is my second time getting my hair done by Jason, he didn't disappoint me. I've always wanted to try out new style. Before we begin with the process, I told Jason about my idea of what I wanted to get, he immediately got me and went on telling me some of his ideas and with my wants to get the best for me. After the long process and me rushing to see what the result will turn out to be, it just shocked me!!! Exactly what I came here for. The style and the colors are so reflecting of myself. I turned out to look completely diff as before. It's like when I tie my back hair up I'm in short hair. But when I leave it down I get a diff look with two colors front and the back. I can't play enough with my hair sometimes. I'm totally satisfied with my experience with them! The money is a total worth! I will look for no one but them for my next look. The staffs are super friendly and patient with their clients, anything just let them know directly. I made my appointment with Jason a week ahead so I would recommend you the same, just give them a call before going to ensure you're reserved for the spot, but not required to, they do take walk-in as well. A little late with this review but I just want to express how happy I am with the way my hair turned out!!! I've been dying my own hair for the past year, in which I dyed it multiple times, laying colors over color. This time I wanted to get it done professionally at a salon and I knew I needed to come to J1 to get it done and I was right about that. I've heard great reviews about J1 and also got recommended by a family member to get my hair done here, so I called and made an appointment a week in advance with Jason. When I came into the salon, I had 3 different colors on my head (my roots (dark brown), teal in the middle section, and dark purple for the rest of my hair). I didn't really have a set color that I wanted to dye my hair, but I had a general idea of dying it milk tea/ ash brown. I told Jason what I had in mind, but with my current hair situation the colors I can dye my hair to are limited. We have first gone through the process of trying to get the purple out of my hair, which then we realized it was really red underneath the purple. Jason suggested doing a grayish color. I was open to dying my hair any color, so I trusted Jason with whatever he decides is the best for my hair. I'm honestly so happy with the turnout that I'm glad the ash brown idea didn't work out. We were able to dye the top grayish color and allowing it to fade into a pink color. After layering the grey dye over my pink/red hair it turned into a really nice pink color which we all thought the color was really pretty. It's been 2 weeks since I've dyed my hair and I'm still obsessing over it!! Can't wait to go back in November to get my hair done again for my Birthday. read more
