I had Joel and Sons for concrete removal, replacement and railings installed. I couldn't be happier. Over the years, the walkway and first step had sunk more than 8". The original middle step was only 3" wide. They took out 2 sections of walkway and the middle step. They framed out the middle step to 5 ' wide and over 30" deep and extended the walkway to match. After all that work they came back and added two railings with a 6" drop in the middle. At the last minute, I wanted a change in the color of the balusters, from white to black. No problem, done. You tell me, how do they look. Their office manager, Stephanie, she is pleasant to deal with and quick to respond to all my questions. The crew, they work hard and do a great job. I requested a free estimate for hedge trimming. The rep came to my house and stood in one spot and stayed on the phone. He then called my phone and proceeded to knock on my window like he was the police. I answered the phone told him I was not feeling well but just wanted the estimate. He proceeded to say he does not believe my hedges would need to be cut again this year thus demonstrating he knows NOTHING about hedge work because hedges grow just like grass (It was in July he came over). I told him there must have been a miscommunication. I wanted an estimate for future work not for nothing right now. He asked how much the other guy charged I told him and all he said was you better keep him. He was very rude and unprofessional and did not give me an estimate at all. Little did he know that I was open for other prices if the person was good and could give me a proper estimate. Based on his RED FLAG behavior I would not recommend this company because the rep they sent out was rude, knows nothing about lawn care, and did not give an estimate. I was referred to JA & Sons Landscaping by my neighbors. They cut both of their lawns and I was in search of a new mowing company to take care of mine. I was also looking for someone to install a privacy fence on my property. I emailed Joel, the owner of the company, requesting both a quote for a wooden, 6-feet privacy fence and mowing services. Joel was out within days and emailed me the estimates immediately. I couldn't believe how affordable the quote for the fence was. Companies such as Long Fence were charging nearly double what JA & Sons quoted me for a small rowhome backyard fence. Needless to say, I hired Joel and his team immediately! I could not be more happy with the wooden fence that J A & Sons installed one my property. While I have used this company in the past, this last service was not a positive one. I requested a front lawn cut and tree trim, paid my invoice, and found that there were weeds left and patches of grass not cut. I contacted the company and was assured that it would be handled the next day. Needless to say I had to do the work myself. I am disappointed in the service I received. read more

Needed to have a tree removed that had fallen during a storm and it was way too big to handle by myself. Also needed a branch removed from another tree that was damaged in the same storm. Joel came out and provided a quick estimate and his team followed it up with a quick and professional job removing the tree and branch. Joel and his team have done my fencing, my back porch and steps, cement work for family and cement work for me this summer. JA and Sons is by far the most professional and committed contractor we have ever dealt with. We had a house built 2 years ago and a pool built last year so we have experienced all forms of contractors and sub-contractors. JA and Sons is the only contractor we have been 100% satisfied with. We decided to expand the small concrete patio to surround the pool which also required the retaining wall to be extended. The patio was concrete so no 'matching' was involved ... but blending an existing retaining wall to a new 25' addition required finding matching product and building it to match the existing section. You would never know the entire wall wasn't built at the same time. We entertained 4 bids and decided to go with JA and Sons due to their customer feedback, Better Business Bureau rating and the professionalism of Joel when discussing our options. From estimate to completion this company delivered in every aspect. The final price was the same as the bid. The crew was fantastic to work with and very respectful of us and our property. The end result exceeded our expectations. We have already referred JA and Sons to multiple people. We are also requesting estimates from them for a few more projects. read more

This review is long over due but I had my backyard re-done from a house I recently purchased. It was a horror scene. It was a weed jungle, jacked up pavement and a rusted wire fence. I was too scared to go back there in fear of what would come out of the bushes of weeds. I had a vision of clearing everything out, re-paving the ground and putting up a big white fence - my American dream - Joel, came out to do an assessment of what I wanted done and take measurements in order to give me a fair quote. His quote by far was in my budget and very, very fair. A little too fair, but as young as I am and a new home owner I am very appreciative. It took about a week for them to complete the project and it turned out AMAZING. I think I may be the only one in the city with a white fence and I love it!!
