BEFORE we had agreed on the architectural drawings, he applied for a permit using the unacceptable drawings. He indicated that "minor" items like moving the position of footings could be taken care of during the work. (REALLY??!) I disagreed and insisted that he revise the drawings; he refused because he had already applied for the permit. My town also requires a permit. According to the contract, he was to obtain all permits necessary to start work. He refused to pay for the town permit, or to return my money so I could obtain the permit. When confronted with his unprofessional "we'll just modify the plans as we build" approach, he became very unfriendly and told me this was all my fault. I'm trying to understand why it is my fault that he did not revise the architectural drawings to my satisfaction BEFORE applying for a permit. Steer clear of this organization--buyer beware!
