Homefront is the only organization I've found locally that embodies all of these important qualities! His first job with us was to repair issues we were having with our flooring. Steve and his team took time to explain everything they were doing and why to us. This was a situation similar to another reviewer where we weren't sure what we would uncover as the reason for the issue since we have wall to wall carpeting so we understood from the outset that Steve's quote was based on best case scenario but he really worked extremely hard to keep his quote accurate in spite of some unforeseen issues. The other thing that impressed me so much about Homefront is that Steve has experts each with their own individual expertise working to ensure the best job is done. In our case, we had both carpeting professionals and construction professionals working together to not only ensure the flooring and subflooring was fixed but then brought in a professional carpet layer to make sure everything back even better than before! (Our carpeting had begun to develop some 'lumps' which were taken care of also - icing on the cake). If you are looking for an honest, no pressure, do what they say, fair priced contractor....Homefront Insights is really the only choice I know of in the area! The initial design work was stressful given the costs of what we wanted versus what we could afford. However, once we settled on a plan, the process was incredibly smooth. Our project manager was Moe who was amazing. He was always available and dealt with any of our concerns immediately. The subcontractors were all wonderful. Everyone worked long hours and things moved along quickly (the entire process did require 6 months although everything was essentially done in about 4 months.) Things were always left clean and organized and the entire process was as stress-free as something like this could be. I cannot be happier with the outcome - we love our new room, porch, and patio.

I disagreed but said I would pay it. We then walked through the house together. The fridge had not been cleaned, and the counters were not wiped. She did not show up with supplies. She arrived and then went to home depot. She came back with just paper towels, clorox wipes, apple cider vinegar and baking soda. I made it politely clear that I was not super impressed with the services but would pay. Once she left, she sent my husband a text message saying he should leave me and take my child with him before she realizes how toxic I am. She said I was toxic and that my husband should "run now," and the proceeded to call me bossy, controlling and obnoxious. Essentially, I paid someone $250 for someone to poorly wipe out an oven, fridge, a microwave and lightly dust my blinds. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced and the worst cleaning I have ever experienced.

We recently had three projects completed by Renovate Your Home (RYH) and have just contracted for…read morethe next one. We had a bathroom floor taken up and reinstalled with repairs to the subfloor and an access door put into a wall for shutoff valves, repair and repaint the walls as well (we'd had our shower redone). We had water damage in our kitchen and dining room remedied. We thought they would have to take out the upper cabinets in the kitchen but it turned out not to be necessary. They replaced the drywall in portions of our kitchen and dining room ceilings and painted the walls and ceiling. The third work order involved reinstalling some fake shutters on the front of the house and reattach a downspout that had come loose from the screws. They worked with us for the scope of work and costs. They were flexible and fair as to change orders that added as well as reduced our costs. They were upfront about materials and used materials we already had on hand to help us reduce our cost. I didn't feel like they were trying separate us from as much of our $$ as possible. If I thought a cost was high, we did discuss it until I was comfortable enough with the cost. The owner, Marty, came by to check out the three jobs. He wasn't afraid to say that something was or wasn't up to quality standard. Gave me a lot of comfort. Sean was the person who did the estimate and Jake was the person that managed ours and other jobs. I could communicate with Sean or Jake via text message which was very helpful for me. They were usually prompt to respond (though I didn't always expect it). Given my warning that a family member had lung problems, they were careful to put plastic across doorways in order to keep the dust from migrating outside the room to a minimum. We have cats and dogs in the house. They respected our request to not let the cats out and no one was afraid of and/or allergic to our animals or asked to have our dogs locked up. The quality of work was great, especially our bathroom floor taking up and re-installing of the porcelain tiles in the master bath (with a small area of the subfloor that needed repair). That said when we found a couple of issues in the kitchen ceiling, they came back quickly and had it taken care of without issue. I was able to ask (a LOT) of questions and get realistic expectations from them. We experienced a house fire in later 2007 and the work on the house by another company took six months, way too long, and there were several quality issues they did not adequately address. I am grateful that company is no longer in business. However, that made me (at least) a little harder to deal with as I wasn't afraid to question things and ask the "why" and "how" questions. They were considerate and understanding and answered my questions. The ONLY thing that someone might not do well with is that RYH, like many businesses, has a staff shortage and use contractors for some of the work. What did that mean? Well, home owners need to be flexible on the progress of the projects. It was not excessive enough for me to reduce the rating. For someone who is NOT as flexible as we were able to be, I would expect that RYH would respect that and stick closer to their stated schedule or adjust their projections accordingly.. For us, we both work at home, so flexibility wasn't an issue. Even so, I would reach out to RYH without question, and, in fact, plan to use them for several projects planned out that need to be done.

I had a bad experience with LJP Contracting Inc. I…read morecontracted them for a stairs refinishing and I ended up doing all the details myself. The work was accomplished but it had the worst detailing. No sense of professionalism or care for details. The contractor sub-contracted other people (the supposed carpenters). Please double check their job accomplishment. We paid to paint the doors and frames Burt they only painted the frames on the outside not the inside and not the doors. We paid for two coats of paint but they only painted once. We requested a water leak in the toilet to be fixed and they changed some parts but the leak is still present. Alex came to our house and gave us an estimate to repair our front steps and told us they would last a very long time. A few days later, his workers showed up, unannounced, asking what they needed to do. I told them I have no idea, and my husband is not home, and to coordinate a time with him. A few days later (on a Sunday), they showed up unannounced again! My husband was out again! They asked me to pick a paint color and I asked if that is included in the price we were quoted and they said they didn't know. As I was trying to figure that out, it came out that they don't think repairing the stairs is a good idea and they can't even guarantee they won't break again for even 3 days. I asked if it would be a lot more expensive to redo the whole thing and they said it would be exponentially more expensive. I told them we'll talk to Alex and get back to them. 30 minutes later, Alex calls my husband screaming at him! He told him that we shouldn't ask his contractors about prices and that he doesn't work that way and that we should find someone else to work with and hung up the phone on my husband! He was literally screaming at my husband on the phone. And then hung up on him. There are so many issues with our experience starting with the fact that the workers kept showing up without prior notice and asking a lot of questions as if they didn't know what they were supposed to be doing. And then of course the fact that he was trying to scam us into doing something that he knew might not even last the week. And then finally, calling my husband and screaming at him and hanging up on him because his workers were asking us a lot of questions?! It's just been an atrocious experience. I recommend avoiding him at all costs. UPDATE: Alex is now threatening my husband over text messages because of our review. We are just stating facts. He said we are inappropriate to contact him on a Sunday when it was his contractors who showed up at our doorstep, unannounced, on a Sunday, and we were just calling to clear things up with him because they had no idea what they were supposed to do and were asking me a lot of questions. He also accused us of trying to strike a deal with his subcontractors, something that didn't cross our minds for one second. We were just trying to figure out if the paint his contractors were making me choose was included in the estimate he provided us.

Alex was helpful and responsive in coming to my home, talking me through the process and promptly providing a quote. Lofft was not the cheapest estimate I received but based on my meeting with Alex and previous reviews, I decided to hire them for my work. Very happy with my decision. The project began and ended exactly on schedule. Eric and Freddie were easy to work with, dependable, did a fantastic job and kept the worksite clean during the project. I'm going to redo my master bath and will look to Lofft to do the project. I'd give them six stars if the system allowed.
