Too expensive. I went for a haircut and spent over $200 and got just a trim. I asked, and even showed multiple photos of what I was looking for -the stylist knew better - which I respect, but bottom line I was the customer. She basically just trimmed what I had before which I wanted to change to begin with and was done in 10 minutes. You can tell how a pro handles hair in their hands and she basically just used one set of shears where most sessions I have had use multiple types of shears to get the effect needed. She was a little full of herself and charged me what the owner would have gotten. She was late to the appt - again - and offered no apology. read more

This was such a weird experience! I made an appt. to get my lash/brow tint done as my go to salon stopped doing it. At my old salon the whole experience took about 30 minutes. When I arrived I had to wait about 15 minutes, which is ok I guess but annoying because they only have meter parking and meant I had to feed my meter several times. When I finally went in for my appt. I went into a private room and laid down in a a room for facials I would assume. However from there it was very strange. The process became so clinical. It took well over an HOUR to do! I had to leave the dye on my face for 45 minutes! My eyes closed for 45 minutes..that is crazy. Finally it was done. However, there was dye all over my face. so I had to fo home and scrub it off. I dont know..I wouldn't come back I am not happy and thought it was way to time consuming. read more

The WORST hair experience I have ever had in 20 years of getting my hair colored. Do NOT go here. Unless you want to spend $500 on color that looks like a first year beauty student did. Oh and then have them be rude to you when you don't like it. I was referred here by a friend. I have been getting blonde highlights in my hair forever, I usually pay $250 for a top NYC stylist to do them, and they last 8 weeks. Yes, every 8 weeks x 20 years = *a lot* of salon visits. I went to see Javier. First red flag should have been that he does cut and color. You need to specialize to be on the top of your game for either. Second red flag should have been that he didn't want to look closely at the color as it was being dried. My NYC stylists make me dry my hair in the salon so they can check the color, even if I'm in a rush. As soon as it was dried, there were very obvious color issues. There was a bright orange blotch in the front. He had not placed foils where I part my hair, so there was a dark two inch spot on the other side. I don't know what his methodology was for applying the foils, but they looked janky and grew out HORRIBLY. He didn't notice the issues, I had to go back in and call them out. This is unheard of. Every stylist I have been to has not let me leave the salon without checking the color closely and making sure that I was pleased with it. Hair stylists build their books off referrals and reputation. It's insane that they would run their color business like this. The $500 price tag was injury to insult. Their prices do not match the level of experience or service. This is a typical Greenwich mark up for an inferior product. read more

I had what I consider to be the best haircut of my life-along with color, and Brazilian blowout by Sergio. I am a hair snob- and have only had my hair done at Jon Barrett, Momotaro,Sassoon, etc. My hair never looked better- Sergio gave me a cut that truly complimented my bone structure; he removed weight were needed. The color choice was also excellent, as close to my own, but softer, and lighter. The Brazilian Blow out had no fumes and has a vacuum- the latest. And i found them on Groupon. read more

I just moved to Greenwich Ct from NYC and, as a woman, one of the first things I needed, was to find a great hair salon. A friend recommended Jaafar Tazi and I decided to take her advice and scheduled an appointment. The hostess Rebecca was very welcoming, a delight, and she took my coat and asked me if I wanted anything to drink while I waited. Jaafar came right away and greeted me. He was lovely and professional and recommended a treatment by a stylist named Tiago who did a great job on my color. The shampoo girl was equally competent and as I absolutely love a scalp massage, she was the best. Once the stylist was done, the owner, Jaafar, cut my hair and styled it himself. When he finished I went "wow", for what woman doesn't want look younger, and Jaafar succeeded in my view of shaving several years off my actually age . I love my new hair style and I am delighted I found a fabulous hair salon close by on Greenwich Ave. In my estimation, Jaafar Tazi is an artist. I've come here on three occasions for a haircut. I orginally found the salon with groupon, but they always have great deals going on. I came back the next two times because they had a "Two for $120" special. Each time I had Violet as my stylist and she was terrific. She was complimentary and conversational without being annoying. The environment is professional, cleanly, and really enjoyable. I've never had a regretful or blah haircut--they really translate what you are looking for into your actual look. I came here for the first time with a Groupon and had a haircut with Javier. Before I comment on that, just want to mention how sweet and professional Kathleen at the front desk was. The salon is clean and serene. Sinatra was playing and I found myself humming along. Back to Javier, the cut was great. During my appt I had a fear that he was over cutting but it was perfect. Two days ago I purchased from groupon to get a haircut at this salon. I am from Stamford, CT., and of course getting a haircut in Greenwich, CT is a bit uncomfortable since it is considered a wealthy town/village. Before I went to the salon, I read all the reviews on how some of the customers didn't have a pleasant experience because of using groupon. So here is how my experience went. The moment I got at the salon, everyone welcomed me warmly. Sergio was my hairstylist. The time flew by so fast because Sergio and I kept constantly communicating about random things. Overall, I had a great experience. Because of that I left Sergio more than 20% tip. So here is my advice to the future clients "Don't let the negative reviews scary you to attend certain places; take the challenge and see for yourself. At Jaafar tazi salon . They made a mess of my hair.. Made it darker rather than lighter( highlights).i eft looking like I Needed highlights.. It was mousey and drab..I had to go back the next day and spend a whole afternoon trying to correct it.. They did make it lighter and somewhat acceptably lighter But not before having to rub my hair and scalp with some burning chemical to remove the dark color they put in.( I came in with very light hair and it was supposed to be refreshed..not made darker) today my scalp is irritated and burning..and my hair texture is ruined.! in addition.. I had paid extra for a shining glaze and under lights they said I needed.. But the glaze had to be removed in order to do the correction.and I was told it was one of the reasons my hair became darker.never heard of that before!.and also since the choice by the hairdresser of the under lights colors was the other cause of the messed up job. they refused to give me a refund .told me i should be happy!! that they fit me in for the repair job!!! In retrospect. I should have been given a full refund since the whole job was a mess, I had to spend a whole afternoon there trying to fix it and now I find I have irritation on my scalp, and my hair was damaged.. It's fuzzy..is the best I can describe.. Their response was that I should be happy they fit me in to fix it.. I'm just sick about my hair .its lost its texture.. It's like fuzzy, I can't style it like its supposed to be because the hair is weird and and isn't laying right and now I'm noting a strange all over color that was put on to tone it down or something... This was the first time in my entire life I had to go back to a hair process redone..I'm totally freaking out every time I have to do my hair..it's ruined! read more

I had a consultation with Katie before making an appointment and was very clear about the color I wanted to achieve. She seeemed to undersatnd and I made an appoinment. After having her color my hair three times I am left with pretty much the same color I started with, just with some streaky highlights that I didn't have before (or want). Each time, she would say, next time we will be able to get closer to the color. The last visit cost over 250.00 and took two trips because I left the salon the first instance with brown roots that looked like I needed my roots done. Upon my return I got the blond streaks. I found Jaafar Tazi through the internet and decided to go there thanks to the many positive reviews on Yelp. Thinking this was supposed to be a "luxury" salon cause it sure as hell had luxury prices I went there confident that I'd come out happy ... I was wrong. I spoke to my colorist for about 10 mins before we started and showed her a photo of exactly what I wanted done (milk chocolate hair color). I even told her exactly what I DIDN'T want done (dark hair with any red tints). She seemed really confident in her abilities to get me the color I wanted. In the end however, I ended up with BLACK hair. Afterwards, when I told her though the color is nice, it's not what I wanted and I'm not happy with it, she agreed and went to consult the director colorist - who then told her what the right color would've been. I wasn't offered any discount for their screw up OR even a re-do to try and get it right the second time at no charge. Instead they just tried to convince me that the color is nice.... Oh, might I also add, my hair cut was put on hold half way through because another client came that they had to answer to immediately. It was really awesome to sit there and stare at my black and half cut hair while I waited for the other client to get their hair done on my time. Thankfully though, at least the hair cut came out nice in the end unlike the color. This was my 2nd time here and I like this salon. It is upscale but not "over the top" and they make an effort to make people feel welcomed. I was surprised to read another review that suggested a customer was treated as "less" because she had a groupon. Today I used the 2nd service bought on a groupon and was treated very nicely both times. The stylist I've seen there twice, Tracy, is professional, skilled, and fast. I plan to have my hair cut there in the next few weeks by another stylist at the salon Tracy recommended for my hair type and I look forward to another good experience. read more

I love this salon. When I moved back to Greenwich 3 years ago, my hair stylists had left the area and I didn't know what I would do! But after recommendations from friends and a groupon offer to motivate me, I tried it out. Now I can't think of anywhere else to go. Jaafar is a mastermind with scissors as hands, he is a genius and creates art. I also love Violet she's an amazing hair stylist and a perfectionist which I appreciate. Tracy is the best thing to happen to the color of my hair. I wouldn't trust anyone else, you tell her what you want and she goes above and beyond the call of duty. Talk about an artist, she is incredibly talented, takes what you want, and what will look best to give u an amazing look. The endless compliments I get never tire, and I love it when people think I just got my hair done when it was 3 months ago. Patricia does a beautiful and expert job with nails. Kathleen who moonlights as a receptionist there, is actually one of their makeup artists! Don't let her hide her talent from you, she's well worth it and very professional. If you bring a picture of what you want she will tell you if she can replicate it or not. She is the FIRST stylist ever that was able to give me the same haircut as the picture. Professional and fun experience at my recent visit with my whole family. I was greeted immediately by a professional staff who took to my kids very kindly. Definitely not your typical Greenwich attitude. It was great and a nice find. The ambience was perfect. I think at one point my daughter was bopping her head to the music while getting her nails done. My son was relaxed on his media distraction and sitting quite still as Katie took to her skills. Violet did an amazing job and made my daughter look like a little porcelain doll with the cut wrapping nicely to her face. My haircut was just what I needed - fresh and modern as Javier could do no wrong. Even my shy hubby who I coaxed to treat himself before our big trip enjoyed his pampered experience. The icing on the cake was the complimentary hand massage that put me to sleep. Despite having my kids so close it was very helpful and appreciative to see many of the staff keep my younger one busy with a beautiful manicure and mommy getting some much needed TLC with her hair. Very Disappointed! Was hoping to find a new salon near my office in Greenwich . For the first time ever I took advantage of a groupon deal. The girls at the desk were great, however the stylist I was booked with was obviously very inexperienced. I specifically said I wanted soft highlights and got bright brassy highlights covered up with some horrible color glaze. I was booked with a master stylist for the haircut who spent about 10 min on my cut. Not sure if this was due to being a groupon user ,however I would of thought that any salon looking to bring in more full time customers by offering specials-they would make a good first impression. Would not go back nor recommend this place to other friends and co workers . I was actually mortified once I got a better look at the color of my hair. I am now stuck with brassy orangey looking hair for a few weeks and will continue my search for a salon who has experienced colorists as soon as possible. read more
