This review isn't based on their kindness but on their ability to listen to instructions. My hair was so long and all the way down to my lower back slightly above my butt. I told them to keep the length and add face framing layers and a little bit of texture to the back but keep my length. I showed her the same picture and showed her additional photos of the same cut different angles. The first cut was so bad and uneven I called them and this time the owner would be the one to "fix" it. I told the owner I didn't want my hair any shorter than what her employee had already cut & that I was unhappy with the length since I like my hair long. My hair is now above my bra line. TheThe owner proceeds to chop my hair under some layers all the way down to my scalp. I care for my hair greatly I never curl it or straighten it . I like my hair length as it was I made sure to let them know how important my hair is to me and how hard I worked on keeping my length. The past 5 years I've cut my own hair nothing crazy just the ends and a bit of my bangs. To have them cut it so short and so poorly I haven't been able to stop crying for the past 4 days. I don't want to leave my home I look like a rock band member from the 70's. They've RUINED MY HAIR. It's so choppy I can't even touch it without crying. They tried hiding their mistakes by styling it but no amount of styling will hide this hideous tragedy of a haircut. From a bad haircut to a nightmare haircut. This will take years to recover from my hair will not be growing evenly so yes it will take years before my hair goes back to what it was. I've being coming to Martha's Salon for the past 3 years. Since then I come once a week for weekly Blowdry , monthly highlights and color maintenance. Martha is my colorist and haircut specialist. Patricia is in charge of my weekly Blowdry and if I'm lucky she also does amazing manicure and pedicure . Even more amazing is that they are open Saturdays and Sundays on regular schedule. I'm torn about how to rate this place because they did give me a nice haircut despite some issues. The biggest issue is that some of the staff are not fluent in English. I totally support a bilingual business, but it's awkward when you only speak English and are assigned a hairdresser who only speaks Spanish. I'm used to chatting with hairdressers as they do my hair, but I basally had to sit in silence and have the secretary translate any requests to my hairdresser. They should try to have staff available who can speak the language of whoever's coming in for an appointment. They also seemed understaffed, or had overbooked when I arrived. They had their high school secretary wash my hair, but she didn't wash or rinse my hair out properly, leaving shampoo in it, so a hairdresser had to redo it (after she was finished with her client). Lastly their prices were much higher than the estimate I was given when I asked in advance. My haircut does look nice, but I had my fingers crossed the whole time because I was struggling to communicate to the hairdresser what I wanted. I think you will like this place if you are comfortable speaking Spanish, but maybe not if you only speak English. read more

LOVE everything and everybody at Martha's Salon I see David Fabi to do my hair colour every 4-6 weeks. I am a natural redhead, and anybody who is a redhead knows that when you start to go gray, any box color that shows red or even any other hair colorist (and I've been to plenty) just doesn't look right, and worst of all, it looks fake and unnatural. If you have that problem, David is your guy. He is fantastic at what he does, and you will walk out of the salon looking fabulous. Martha, the owner of the salon is LOVELY! I get my Brazilian Blowout from her, and waxes my eyebrows. Again, a TERRIFIC job and I walk out happy. The workers also book many clients at the same time and make their clients wait for hours to do a simple job. Do not make an appointment here. I made an appointment for a Sunday morning and when I arrived, they were closed! The worst salon I've ever been to! Martha is a liar, she's disrespectful, she has NO idea what she's doing! Don't come here. I just walked out with 5 extensions in my head after being there all day long. She had me cleaning my own extensions in the back like I work there, she was 30 minutes late to my appointment, she was rude to me, took several clients before me while I was waiting around, I was there from 10-3:30 am and she told me to walk out with 5 extensions in my head. I told her on the phone I had 35 pieces of hair she told me as she's finally putting my extensions in that she doesn't have enough tapes so she can't put them all in so I said I've been here all day cleaning my own hair I told you how many I had on the phone and you couldn't go get more tapes for me? I went to this salon almost a year ago and left a review about my experience but now that I check it is not up. I decided to re-post because I very much want to warn others about this salon before they go in! I originally visited Martha's Salon after reading all of the positive reviews here on Yelp. I am very skeptical of hair stylists and usually do not let anybody come near my hair, as I do all of my own coloring and cutting; but this time I wanted to lighten my hair dramatically from a very dark brown, almost black, and thought that the owner of the salon would have much more experience than me in that. I also made the mistake of trusting that she would be completely honest with me as to whether or not my desired color was ACHIEVABLE. I spent a total of 5-6 hours in the salon that afternoon. The service was not the best, she was working on my hair while simultaneously working on another customer's high light touch-up. They knew each other well apparently, so they were talking to each other the entire time. I was left watching TV while waiting for the bleach in my hair to take effect. After a while I realized that I had the tinfoil in my hair for a long time and I know that my bangs are sensitive so I pointed it out. She then said "oh yes" and took the foil out. She then told me not to look in the mirror because she was not done "fixing it". When I saw my hair I nearly passed out. The roots were nearly WHITE, the rest of the highlights were a hideous copper/orange color. I wanted to cry. She told me that she was going to apply toner and that everything would be fine. She applied it, and my hair was nowhere near the color that I had asked for (I wanted a light brown/honey color, I had even shown her a picture). My hair was a very flat mix of copper/pale blonde/light brown PLUS my brown black hair mixed in because what she did were highlights. To top it all off, my ROOTS were the ones that were blonde, my hair had a gradient effect all the way down to the tips where it was a darker brown. And TO MAKE MATTERS WORSE, my hair was FRIED. She had to cut over 3 inches off of my hair, my bangs were DESTROYED. She had to keep clipping at them because they were so fried. To the point where they were SO SHORT they would not lay on my face, they stuck STRAIGHT up. She even told me that I should clip them back until they grow back--- WHAT!? I AM NOT SUPPOSED TO LEAVE YOUR SALON WITH YOUR ADVICE AS TO HOW TO FIX YOUR MESS. So not only did I not get the hair color that I wanted, or even the LOOK, my long hair was now about 3 or 4 inches shorter, my bangs were quite literally DESTROYED, AND I had wasted my entire day in that salon being neglected as a new customer and left feeling like I had just let an amateur do my hair. Everyone in the shop (another hair dresser, the customer that she was well acquainted with, and what I assumed was her mother or just a friend) was trying to tell me that my hair looked good, but they all stared in horror. The customer even dared to tell me that it was nice because it made me look "lighter", as in my skin. I was mortified. I had never been in a similar situation and I was in complete shock. My hair is my pride and joy and this woman had single handedly destroyed it in a couple of hours. Martha went on to charge me over $200 for what she did to my hair. To make me feel better she gave me an already open small bottle of moroccan oil conditioner, I wanted to literally throw it in the trash I was so upset. I ended up paying and leaving that place as fast as I could. I still regret paying for that mess, but in that moment my emotions were ALL over the place. I got in the car, clipped my bangs back, pulled my hair up in a (now small) pony tail and sobbed my entire way back home. That same night I ordered extensions and multiple hair treatments to get my hair back to the healthy, beautiful hair it once was. Ladies, PLEASE stay away from this place. I don't know how the cuts are here, or the styling, but COLORING is ridiculous and terrible. And even though they might be better at cuts, the way I was treated was just unacceptable. I really REALLY advice that you run for the hills if you ever find yourself in this place. Go to another salon before you regret coming here. read more

She knows her stuff and is always up to date with the latest trends (new techniques for extensions, color etc)...I love coming here, you can tell that they take pride in their work. The guy who cut my hair was extremely nice, although he didn't understand me very well. He did a fantastic job on my color, I love how it turned out, although I gave him a very specific idea of what I wanted on my cut (a cut I had had several times before and loved) and he told me it wouldn't look good on me and wanted to do something else. Well, I'm not a professional, so I agreed and I'm alright with the cut I got, it's not bad, but it does require some fixing to avoid looking like an 80's housewife and it is, just like I thought, not nearly as short as I wanted. I took my daughter here for a trim, wash and blow dry last weekend. Never again. A ruler would be a useful addition to the stylists equipment, as 1 inch to them is approximately 4 inches to the rest of us. And it wasn't even straight. I always get full blonde highlights and a haircut when I see her, and she does a fabulous job every time. Her prices are extremely affordable too, which is wonderful considering how astronomical some of the prices at salons in the area can be. It's also nice that her salon is such a warm, welcoming place, which I think is a reflection of what a nice person Martha is. Everyone is so friendly! I would not even give this place one star. I should have known when after making the appointment and asking the price the receptionist asked if I wanted a blow dry as well as a cut. What? How do you know the cut is good if you don't blow it dry??? Not here. Cut is one price and to dry is extra. But I kept the appointment anyway. I show up only 7 minutes early for my appointment. No warm greeting. The two employees there looked at me when I walked in like I was interrupting them. The stylist looked like he was terribly sick with a cold. He looked awful. I said what I was there for and was told he needed a minute to clean up the area around his chair. I look over and the floor around his chair is FILTHY. I have never seen anything like it-clumps of hair, dirty tissues, etc. I must have had a look of disgust on my face because he then told me, annoyed at my disapproval, that he just finished working. He then offered another chair and as I look around I notice that the entire floor is covered in hair and trash. DISGUSTING. I walked out. I would never go back.
