It seems like there's been a change in management or personnel lately because the previous reviews were not my experience at all. I just started working in the area and took a few of my suits in there to have them cleaned. I was met outside by a nice attendant and she walked me through the whole curb-side service thing. I gave her all of my information and she was nothing but cheery and polite. A day and a half later I get a text alerting me that my dry cleaning was ready for pick-up. How cool! I picked it up that same day (with the same cheerful attendant taking care of the transaction). In fact, someone else came out carrying my clothes and was going to put them on the hanger in the back seat of my car - now that's service! I wasn't ready for that, so like an amateur, I had him just hand me my dry cleaning through the passenger window like a hobo. This place exceeded my expectations and I'm definitely going back there for all my dry cleaning needs. I didn't think it was particularly pricey based on other dry cleaners in Austin, and even if they were, I'd gladly pay a little extra for that kind of service. read more

Originally dropped off our son's suit in late October because it needed some light cleaning. We promptly picked it up, hung in the closet. We pulled the suit out of the bag this February preparing for his upcoming formal event. We noticed there were several light white spots in places on the vest and jacket. My wife and I recall those are the exact same spots that were on there when we first dropped it off. (probably our fault that we did not inspect the suit when we picked it up.) It was in a bag, we just expected it would just be cleaned and we would be ready for when we needed it next time. I took the suit back to same Jack Brown cleaners Leander location near the H-E-B. This was February 14 in the afternoon. There was a mature lady working behind the counter. I explained situation. She barely looking up, says "we don't guarantee anything". I press a little more and say yes ma'am I understand, I guess. but these are pretty much the same spots that were on the suit when we brought it in. She, repeats same we don't guarantee anything. So I say "let's be clear; say I bring something to you to be dry cleaned but the same spots, which are very minimal, are still on the suit. Again, she just repeats, barely looking up at me. We don't guarantee anything. At this point, I can hear my wife subconsciously in my head saying just be nice. You're a professional in the community and fairly well known just be nice. So I point-blank ask the lady "are you saying that there is nothing you can or will do to rectify the situation it's very minor it appears to me." Yep you guessed it. She just says we don't guarantee anything. I just say "well I can give you a guarantee. I will never step foot in this store or a Jack Brown cleaners again." No response from her, which is probably best at this point. Then I remembered being in a cleaners in Northwest Florida. took a suit in; lady says why do you need this clean? I said there are just a few little spots here and there she says give me 10 minutes and come back. I go back she says I just put a little couple tablespoons OxiClean in a cup of water a little brush. Let it sit for a few minutes rinsed it off and dab it dry. I tried several times to pay her. NO CHARGE! COME BACK WHEN YOU NEED US! So I went home and did that same thing to my son's suit for this ordeal and YEP it worked just fine. THEN Brushed it good with a linen tape; which I'm not sure how it got so dusty staying stored in the bag during this whole time?) but NOW suit was totally fine now no thanks to the lady at Jack Brown cleaners. My point is; that lady wouldn't even look at the little spots wouldn't engage me at all other than to say we don't guarantee anything. Yeah, I can see why that's her policy. For those who have had good luck there I'm glad to hear it. But I for one will never step foot in another Jack Brown, cleaners especially that one at Leander near H-E-B. And hopefully never encounter that lady in a customer service situation again. read more

Never take your stuff to Jack Brown Cleaners!! This was specifically the Leader location by the H‑E‑B Plus but I think they all send out to the same warehouse... I took my comforter to them because my dog peed on it. I sprayed it with shout and spot cleaned it the best I could prior to dropping it off and when I got it back, the pee stain was still bright yellow and still smelled strong of urine as if it wasn't cleaned at all. I called and requested a redo since I paid over $40 for the cleaning. They agreed to the redo and didn't charge me for it but when I got it back, the stain is now a weird rust, red color. The picture doesn't really even do it justice for how bad it looks. My $150 comforter is more than likely ruined. How did they even feel justified with giving this back to me like this?! I went here to drop off some shirts and jeans to be starched and a lettermen's jacket to be cleaned. The shirts and jeans were barely starched at all. The Jacket took about 3 months and came out ok. The service was bad. When we called there was a nice younger women who answered and she was great but every time I went in a rude old lady was working. Well I tried again...when I dropped off, the employee complained of someone bringing in a blanket with pet hair which she reacts to. Hmmmm...then I never got the text that I was told that I would get. When I called to check on my items, she seemed quite irritated when she asked for the last two digits of my name. Well, I don't have numbers in my name. So when I asked for clarification then she wasn't very patient and asked again. I finally figured out what she meant. Surprise charges !!! Beware. My first visit started with an irate customer at the desk because the item they Were told would be there, I daughters graduation gown, was not there on time. Should've walked out, but I did not Wtf --- I have been dropping my shirts and pants at comet cleaners in mineral wells Texas for a long time, weekly basis. $18-22 a week. Totally surprised when I moved to Austin and dropped them off here, assuming a shirt is just that, but it was Double price for regular cotton shirts and surprise pricing for two of them.. Apparently in Austin your pearl snap shirt has to be dry cleaned and in Austin your linen shirt cost $10 to clean the proper way. Of course this is only in Austin at this cleaners and when I dropped off my laundry no one told me there were different charges for the same cotton material. I should've paid attention to all the reviews. I even asked why they have an advertised Thursday special for less, but they charged me more every other day for the rest of the week... makes no sense. So this location will not get my $20 a week dry cleaning bill for the rest of my residency because they charged me almost double and didn't tell me before they did it. Holding my linen hostage is horrible . So I have purchased a new super fancy washer dryer with steam and all kinds of special functions I'll do my own laundry. read more

This place should be ashamed to call themselves a cleaner. The lady at the counter is rude and condescending. A cleaners should be able to launder a machine washable king comforter; dry clean a man's suit; and dry clean a woman's dress, shawl, and jacket. Upon arrival I was rudely told the clothes were to dirty to clean and that they don't accept things covered in "dog hair". My clothes did have some cat hair, but nothing a lint roller wouldn't get right off. I told her they had cleaned them all before and she stormed off to make a ticket, like I was harassing her. When she walked back, I mentioned the other bag I was carrying had a comforter. You could tell she didn't want to take the comforter, and thought she would get to refuse it for not having a care tag. It does have its care tag and can be washed and dried in a normal washer. If it were not January and the middle of "cedar" juniper season, I would have washed it myself, like I had a hundred times before and put it on the line to dry and I told her so. She asked what was wrong with it, and I sad a cat had a hairball on it. We pulled it out and I showed her the less than 1" x 3" spot left. She reluctantly took it. A week later, I go to pick up my "too dirty" clothes and find they failed to attempt to wash the comforter. They didn't attempt to clean it. This is why they should be ashamed to call themselves a cleaner. I have had cleaners get cat urine out of suede leather. Any real cleaner would say, well that is gonna take some extra work, so it will cost $$ more. This place is too busy to launder anything that isn't already pristine and not in need of a cleaning. It is just to much work to take a comforter and put it in a washing machine. One trip through my washer and it was good as new. And the prices are too high for the dry cleaning of clothes. $55+ for the clothes is ridiculous. read more

My first time since moving to the area and I used the Leander location. I dropped off a ladies skirt, men's pants and suit jacket. I picked them up and brought them home and honestly am not sure they were even cleaned or if they just hung them up on their hangers. All 3 items have multiple thread from other clothing items stuck to them. There is so much lint and the items are navy blue so it is very obvious. The pants look wrinkled on the hanger. And probably the worst is that they smell. I had to leave them for a week before I could pick up and now they smell like a faint mixture of cigarette smoke and perfume. I just recently took a dress that was a gift to me. It was white with multi-color Pom poms on it. When I went to go pick our clothes up, they told me the dress wasn't there and tried to make me think I never brought it in. But I told the lady I was 100% sure i did. So she checked again, and what do you know?!.... they had it, and it was ruined. Ridiculous to even consider this a dry cleaners. I will NEVER be returning!!! The customer service is horrible I was treated like I was an inconvenience when I came in even after saying "this is my first time here I'm not sure what to do." The manager at the front was too busy talking to someone else who looked to be as a friend instead of helping a new customer. Extremely overpriced..... I was in shock when I got the pick up text with the price. I was charged $8 for shirts... when online it says at most $3. After expressing to the manager I had a coupon with the specials she explained to me she would not take the coupon and the best she could do was give me 15% off. My total was $72.75 and left there paying $61.83. After reading so many similar stories/reviews on Yelp I wish I would have taken the time to look at those before giving them my business because now I find myself writing about my own horrible experience. A bit expensive, but this location gets this rating due to poor customer service. Hoping corporate will see this and correct it, but you can't get in touch with them. I took a suit in to be tailored as the lining had separated from the jacket bottom. I cut the liner because it was hanging out, I was traveling, and had no other choice going into a meeting. When I took it in, the woman seemed unhappy that I'd cut it, and told me twice not to do so. The first time, I said, "Well, haha, I already did, so now I just need to get it fixed." and tried to play it off. She reiterated it in a strangely almost condescending tone. I felt like a child being scolded. She really seemed unhappy that I'd cut it. It was a strange interaction. When I went back to pick it up, she said, "Oh you're the one who cut the suit. Don't do that." Unbelievable. Just now I received a text message randomly from a number I didn't recognize. Keep in mind, I have absolutely no clue what this number is. The text exchange (EXACTLY as sent/received): "Please pic up DC ... JBC Leander" "? What is this in regards to? "I told you ... Pick up ur DC ... JBCLEANERS" "Wow, no need to be rude. I received a random text from a number I do not know and I had no clue what you meant by 'DC' or who JBC Leander was." "No one is being rude ... Um excuse me, you aren't my mother and second I've had the item cleaned several times by other cleaners. To have a problem that I didn't create and a company that has a policy that benefits them to avoid responsibility is very frustrating. My home recently burned down and I lost every thing. My friends bought me new clothes for work and they were not cheap. I dropped off my dress shirts for cleaning and press on a Saturday. Monday I find them in a horrible condition. The white shirts looked as though they were pressed with a dirty press causing black spots on the seams. They were wrinkled as though they were layed down with other items stacked on top. The lady working there was very nice and agreed to the bad condition. I knew it wasnt her fault and did not express anger to her. (Even tho the manager later informed me that I harressed her employee). The lady informed me that her manager would call me. This is Thursday and her manager has yet to call. The manager only text by way of communication. I wish I could copy the text message to this page as evidence of her communication. Here is what she told me verbatum on Wednesday. "Your clothes are ready for pick up: no charge for the shirts - DC $35.18 There are no Re-Do's on any garmets not paid for. Thank you MGR. 512-259-4455" This implied that once they mess up the clothes, they don't charge you and it negates them from the responsibility. I called the manager this morning (Thursday) to see if this is correct. Being a manager of 68 employees and in customer service, I understand the proper approach of kindness to resolve a bad situation. Upon initial conversation, she lost control and began screaming at me, that Mr. Brown was in the store yesterday and said, no charge me for the clothing and their not responsible for clothes not paid for and their tired of me harassing their staff. I've never harrassed any staff and never asked or implied for no charge of any cleaning. She informed me that I can pick up my clothes and never come back to their store. I informed her that I have never displayed any improper behavior towards any of her staff in person or over the phone and she can take my credit card number and I'll pre-pay for the service, but I do want my shirts cleaned, the black marks removed that they caused and the wrinkes pressed out. She informed me that she was too busy to discuss this situation and would call me back later. If Mr. Brown is actually personnaly invloved, it appears he was feed the wrong information from a manager that knows how to build her case. How can a company actually have a policy that protects them from damaging clothing, not charge you and make it the clients responsibility? I did take home some of the shirts and pressed them out myself so I would have clothing to wear to work. I had to buy some shirts due to the time it has taken to get my shirts out of the cleaners. The old white hair lady at this cleaners may seem nice, but once there is a problem, look out. She seems to remember every item that goes through her store. I had a shirt and tie sent there and the shirt was very dirty around the neck and the tie had one little stain on the front bottom of the tie. I got them back after almost two months because I forgot about them during the holiday. So went back to get them. She said I was gonna call you because she couldn't get the shirt very clean. Well I thought then why didn't you. Just a liar. Anyways got home and the shirt was pretty ok but the tie was ruined. They ironed my silk tie at such a high heat that it made an imprint of the two tags on the bottom back of my tie. I had water looking stains on both the front and the back which were not there before. I know my ties and they were not there before. She insisted that this tie was old and very soiled. LIE!! I could tell she was just protecting herself. I have many ties and only used this place twice. They need to hire better customer service people and also train the minimum wage people to learn how to clean and iron. This place sucks with her bad attitude. She is a Phoney!! Did business with this cleaners for two years and everything was fine. They did a good job on my clothes. Then one day I picked up my cleaning but it wasn't mine, not even my size. She initially acknowledged there was a mix up and would check with the other locations for my clothes. After about a couple of months, I inquired again about my lost clothing and she told me the manager said that what they tried to give me is what I brought to them.
