I occasionally travel for work and used Alex Cleaners on several occasions over the last few years as my local neighborhood shop to get a quick service before meeting with Clients. Normally no issues... but... Last month I was preparing for both an interview and a wedding. I dropped off a suit and shirt for cleaning like usual. I was given a ticket slip and told to come back in a few days. When I came back, the employee couldn't find my suit or their copy of the claim ticket. I assumed maybe just a clerical error and spent 30 minutes with the employee going through the racks to see if it had been misplaced. Nothing. I gave them my information and was told the owner would call me back and I hoped they'd have an update. Meanwhile I'm going home trying to figure out backup plans if I don't get my suit in time. This is where it gets crazy. The owner calls me within the hour and tells me someone came in several days earlier without the ticket receipt. The person claimed to be me and Alex Cleaners gave them my suit when they paid in cash. I was confused. Why would they give my suit to someone without the claim ticket? They had my contact information on the business copy of the ticket, so why wouldn't they try calling my phone number or email to verify my identity? But they didn't. Any time I tried to ask a question, the owner cut me off and talked over me. I got more confused because rather than admitting making a mistake as a business, the owner THREATENED me by claiming I was trying to scam them and that he was going to call the police on me! At this point I ended the conversation terrified this guy was going to have police or attorneys coming after me for their mistake. I filed my own police report, but I'm not planning on taking this to court. The suit was nice but not worth legal drama. The most I can do is warn others not to use Alex Cleaners. I don't know what their situation is... if they messed up and were lying to cover themselves when they realized they lost my clothes? That or their employees are sharing customer info to commit fraud and steal suits because they don't have security systems or processes to protect customer belongings. Either way, save yourself the drama and get your stuff cleaned somewhere else. TL;DR Alex Cleaners gave my suit to a stranger then threatened me.

But at least listened to you first before shaking their head no half way through what I needed done... SO sad - but I will NEVER come back here again.... The days of hand sewn solutions with quality and care are gone - last piece why I can write this confidently.... The lady attending me (after again shaking her head no through my request) looked at me and said: "the machine can't do it"..... Machines? Some alterations require hand sewing.... Especially custom pieces.... Guess I'll have to hunt for something like that... Good luck to the previous owners and again, be cautious.... While I may be assuming, the fact there were a lot of cosmetic upgrades to the entrance makes me think they're gonna jack up the prices too.....

I came to this local cleaner desperate for help getting a bleed reversed on the bottoms of a two piece heirloom Chinese brocade outfit. I explained the situation and said I would pay upwards of $200 to get it looking better, and explained I just did NOT want it to get worse. I didn't hear anything for a while and although there was a race against time to get my daughter photographed in it, I didn't want to put extra pressure on them. Despite multiple efforts from me, and the workers in the shop to get some kind of update, the owner was incredibly non-responsive. They had the garments and reference imagery for two months without update, and I went to pick it up and they had completely ruined the top. The top wasn't in perfect condition as it had a small localized bleed, but it looks like they did some treatment that definitely made the top worse. The owner said she didn't know what it looked like before and I had a framed reference sitting in her shop for two months. Really just sucks that my one request was for it to not get worse, and it was ok if they couldn't do anything about it. But they failed to communicate or understand their own professional limitations. The entire situation was already heartbreaking and this unprofessional business touching this garment was just the cherry on top.

Before I explain, let me just say that the women who work here were very welcoming and nice my first time coming in. Their cleaning was also fine, no complaints there. The issue is the sewing. I had a breast reduction earlier this year and brought in two brand new Left on Friday swim tops because they were too big after my surgery. I thought I would save myself the $200 buying new tops and have them taken in a little. There was obviously some sort of communication breakdown between me and the woman who I spoke to, that did my measurements, but even so, the final result is the worst sewing I have ever seen in my life. I could have done a 10x better job myself, but I wanted my things taken to a professional. Their work was not professional at all. It was a total botch job. Both tops were cut down the middle in the back (WHYYY? Not even on an already existing seam, just cut that b*tch right through the middle ‍) and then the two sides were sewn (really terrible, rough, ugly stitches) back together with the ends folding awkwardly inward onto my back, in an itchy and uncomfortable way. In addition to that, she didn't take both sides in equally so now the straps on both tops are asymmetrical! I mean you can see it in the photos. It's inexcusably dreadful. Neither swim top is wearable and I ended up having to buy new ones anyway. When I confronted the woman about it, I asked if she had actually SEEN the work, because I didn't want to assume that she had done it herself, and I told her they look really bad. She seemed a bit uncomfortable and said that yes, she had done the work herself, and when I pulled out the tops and showed her all of the above mentioned things, she got a little bit belligerent with me. Immediately defensive, started raising her voice, denied any wrongdoing, blamed me for all of it because I didn't communicate well enough, etc. I'm not sure how clear you have to be with someone about having a top taken in, but it didn't seem productive to have a yelly argument with the woman in her store, so I just said, "Ok, I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough", and I chalked it up to a communication breakdown. She then offered to give me a 20% DISCOUNT on the work. I was absolutely baffled by this because not only was I still having to pay her for ruining my swim tops, but I would also need to spend another $200 to buy new ones. Bottom line: do not bring alterations here. They will ruin your clothes. You'll get better results letting a toddler play with your sewing machine.
