I called and spoke with Randeep, who scheduled me within 2 days with an irrigation specialist. I had an appointment this past Wednesday for Danny to come by and take a look at the leak. Not only did Danny fix the leak, he replaced the valve completely with newer, more up to date parts as my home is 20+ years old. After addressing the original issue, he noticed that two of my sprinklers were not functioning and replaced them, even without me asking! Wow! He then recommended that I replace my sprinkler timer as well, since it was also an older/outdated model. I purchased a new timer, in which he took the time to walk me through step by step to make sure I understood how to use the timer and make necessary adjustments and also made sure to go through the schedule not once, but twice to ensure I was satisfied with the watering schedule and overall water flow. During the walkthrough, I noticed there was a huge leak coming from a drip line in my backyard that caused a puddle in my lawn. He explained that the leak in the drip line may have been caused my running it over with a lawnmower or by me accidentally hitting the line with a weed wacker. I asked Danny how much it would cost for him to fix the leak, and he said, "This is such an easy fix, I'm almost positive you can fix it on your own." He then recommended the parts I needed to fix the leak, and sure enough, I was able to fix it on my own! He made sure to keep in contact with me while I went to Home Depot to make sure I bought the right parts. Danny went above and beyond and provided exceptional service! They walked the client and I through how to use the pool pump and accessing the app with ease. All the neighbors looked on in envy so I'm hoping this is a service that homeowners in LA will look into. It's more affordable than one would think and a worthwhile service that you hope you never have to use, but will be grateful if you have it. There are a small handful of people offering this service in LA, I would encourage you to do your research, ask a lot of questions and compare estimates. I went with Brian largely because he was very direct and straightforward. He didn't try to "sell" me on a lot of bells and whistles like other vendors did. On the contrary, he explained those bells and whistles and gave sound reasoning why he wasn't on board with certain technology. But his biggest draw is he is an active firefighter and not only knows how things go down in a fire in terms of flighting it, but he'll tell you about where the water is coming from within the city and what you can and maybe cannot rely on from city resources, which is very important and sadly something we learned in the January 2025 fires. It's one of the reasons why we also went with the pool pump to help with additional water if need be to utilize our own resources at home. I was looking for someone to audit my landscape for MWELO submission. He was asking $350 per valve…read moreand for 6 valves, the total would be $2100. I got it done from someone else for less than half the price. The other person was equally responsive and got it done fast. I obviously don't have any idea of what additional level of service is provided by Wicks - but all I know is whatever the other guy did, that was enough and we got the certification done. And that is what I was looking for - keep it simple and get the job done. Personally, the county has made a big mess in the implementation of the MWELO completion. You could have a very expensive home and the county takes care of the inspection - this way, you don't have to shop around for a person to take care of it. Now that you need an external auditor for MWELO, these external auditors are preying on the unsuspecting public and asking for whatever money they want and hope to get away with it. Part of the reason here is that for some people, the certificate of occupancy is tied to the MWELO completion. So that is what Wicks was trying to offer me - he could do the inspection the next day and have the audit report the following day and offering to not collect payment until the certificate of occupancy was received. While conceptually what he is doing is good, all he is doing is preying on people who are really ready to put the house construction behind them and move into the house ASAP - so he is basically dangling a quick inspection for an obscene price for very few hours of work. We were already in the house - so we had no urgency on the occupancy certificate and the other person who charged much less, got it done equally fast. In summary - if you are up the creek and can't find someone, sure go for this company but else save yourself some serious dough and look around. =============== In response to what was posted by the owner of the company. - While I actually didn't do business, I did reach out to engage. What I am reporting is my first hand experience on the pricing. - My frustration with the county on MWELO is really about the issue of county exposing the home owners to vendors who are willing to ask for any price since the home owner has no choice but to get the audit completed. Wicks irrigation pricing is a prime example of why homeowners would be frustrated by this. - I didn't want to but I will post - the other guy charged me $800. Obviously the other guys is running his own business too but he has figured out how to do it efficiently. From a customer perspective, there is a big difference between $800 and $2100. And the other guy met the state and the local regulations and his certification was accepted by the county.
