I went to this place this morning and when paying for my food I gave the man with the gold/silver in his mouth my card foe payment. It took a long time just for him to make the payment. Once he finished and I got my food. 20 minutes later my card showed a declined transaction, at this restaurant, because whoever tried to use my card put in the wrong CVV number!! Watch out because that place will copy your card number and try to use it!!!! This is the elvis presley jack pirtles that I am talking about. Best fried chicken in Memphis hands down. My husband and grandchildren loved it the first time we tried. Fried chickens were delicious and crispy. Sides of French fries and mashed potatoes were all good including the biscuits and gravy. Best sweet iced tea as well. Five stars across the board in my humble opinion. Very rude guy at Drive Thru window on 07/13/24 on Elvis Presley Jack Pirtles Chicken. When I said I had a coupon he said White or Dark Meat? I said Dark. I said I wanted 2 Cokes. He said rather rudely, We don't have Coke & told me my total was $12 +. We didn't get any plasticware, catsup, Napkins, Plastic Bag for our 2 boxes of Chicken etc. He was the rudest Asshole ever & I do mean Asshole. This was my 1st & last time going there. Wings were amazing reason for not five stars is I asked for not just ranch but extra ranch with wings. Did not revive ranch. We went at 9:15 and they were out of sides. I pulled off Highway 51 onto Memphis's Elvis Presley Blvd, my first thought was the same as yours. WTF?!? I was immediately transformed back to Camden NJ or Bed-Stuy if it was overloaded with fast food chains. Despite my initial shock, I drove past the lovely Graceland Guest House in search of food. Sure, I could've gone for something easy like Wendy's or even Church's chicken but based on a quick analysis of my surroundings, I knew this would be my first and last overnight stay in Memphis. I swerved to avoid the random abandoned car in the middle of the road and pulled into Jack Pirtles. The outside looked like a Dairy Queen if Dairy Queen has been nuked and left for dead for 50 years. Fortunately, there was no way to go inside so I drove through the pot-hole filled parking lot to the drive thru station. I had a few questions but let's just say that even though English was the worker's first language, I couldn't really understand a word he said. Let's be kind and just chalk that up to his thick Tennessean accent that we don't really get much of in Dallas. I ordered a four-piece for me and my daughter to share and we raced back to our gated hotel to enjoy the fruits of our labors. When I checked in at 9:55pm, the hotel clerk informed me that they offer free PB&J and banana sandwich station with fixins every night at 10pm. I looked to my left and saw about 50 people already lined up. A decision had to be made. Eat the Jack Pirtles fried chicken or go right to the PB&J bar and make myself a few peanut jelly and banana sandwiches with milk?? Like a true Yelper I did exactly what you'd expect. We skidaddled to our room, ate the fried chicken and then made a bee line for the PB&J buffet. The chicken was good. Not insanely good or even memorable but definitely good. Navigating from the hotel to Jack Pirtles and back safely might feel like navigating land mines in the Hurt Locker but at least I came back with some good chicken. WOW -- we see why this is a "Memphis Thing!" We drive by this place and could not miss the billboard proclaiming Jack Pirtles the Memphis restaurant association 2014 distinguished restaurant. Those awards matter, and we trust them. Our location was walk up and drive thru only, and a line was forming (always a good sign!) while we looked at the menu. OMG the chicken was tender, juicy, not greasy AT ALL and both perfectly spiced and salted, inside and out. They must use a pressure-marinating system to infuse their chicken with a brine before frying. It was so tender and moist, plus seasoned all the way through to the bone, that this MUST be how they do it. The chicken and rice gravy bowl had savoury yellow rice topped with tender chicken and a lovely peppery gravy. For those who may not want to eat fried, the 8oz bowl is enough for lunch with a biscuit. The bowl also comes in a 16oz size for dinner, perfect for a side. WHEN IN MEMPHIS EAT HERE!! read more

Oh, where do I start? Memphis has a lot of places to get good fried chicken. This is one of them but not the best. Service is typical to the area....very slow. Drive on by if there is a line to order. You'll be there for a while if you don't. The portions are similar to KFC. I ordered the 3 pcs meal. Ate the fries in the car before getting cold. The biscuits were a little hard but soaked up the gravy just like I like it. I would give more stars but the service stops me from doing so. I have to say that the gravy is the only reason I will return. I'd put that $@&? on anything! I would go just to buy gravy. read more

Visited on 9/9/20 and stayed at speaker for 5 minutes no cars in line. Finally a voice said come to window. No please nothing, no greeting! Went to first window the window slammed open and lady said next window very rude. Went to next window waited pretty long and went back to first window and same person said go to first window she will take your order. So I went and waited again a pleasant lady came and took order. All I wanted for myself was french fries and husband had two steak sandwiches but my fries that were 2.99 was cold and not many. Needless to say not impressed. read more

When my mom and I left the burial of a close friend's mother at New Park on Monday, we decided to get food together. We pulled up at jack Pirtles around 11am and asked the girl to hold for a second while we decide. It only took us about 2min, if that long. I told her I wanted two of the number 15s and she abruptly stopped me and told me to hold on. Okay cool...we waited about 5 min and she said "pull up to the window and she'll take your order". We pull up and a car is at the window so we wait. The person in the car called them back to the window, knocked on the window and blew her horn but no one came back to assist her. She pulled off and we pull up. We sit there and wait another 5 min before my mom says let's just go somewhere else. We can see them standing around and can hear them laughing and talking really loud. There were no other customers there so I'm not sure what the problem is. This is horrible customer service and I'm never returning. This is by far the best chicken in the south. Its perfect in texture, flavorful, & crispy. This chicken is seasoned to perfection and eaten along with fries and gravy, with perfect little biscuits on the side. I have never been disappointed in this chicken once in 20 years.
