This was a converted casino, use to be race track only, now has slots on 1st floor and racing part is upstairs. Not the biggest casino, but if you need your slot fix, this is a good place. They did a great job with the remodel here, really impressed with how it looks. It is good for what it is, a smaller slot and racing casino. read more

Thanks you Jack Thistledown for recognizing Veterans who served with a free buffet today. We came out for Derby Day and were treated to a wonderful Prime Rib buffet with all the trimmings, Desert and traditional Mint Julips. My lady friend and I entered in the derby day hat competitions and I received some nice compliments. The race track was very fogged in but the races went on anyway. We got there at 11am and by 6pm derby time the entire place was packed to the gills. Caught a free T-shirt thrown into the crowd and all in all had a fantastic day! read more

I love the little restaurants they have on the inside and the fact that you can watch the horses race also. I also used to work here a while back. This was my first time since it was turned into a casino. Usually I go to Northfield Park. I am pleasantly surprised. Everyone was friendly, the entire casino clean, all machines in working condition. Lots of room between aisles to walk around without running people over. I signed up for a player's card, did not get any free play, but after spending $20 on machines I got a t-shirt, which actually looks pretty nice. I will be back! read more

I'm very close with a few of the employees here. Word is that they haven't passed their health test and recently a nice infestation of roaches has appeared and they have been spotted near the bars and even on a counter where food is served. -Yuck! It's claimed this is news, but employees know it well? I'm hearing customers are seeing them now. These things don't just happen over night. Bring in exterminators who treat the place regularly. Word is there's more then just roaches you can bring home with you from this place. read more

Racino was put in place because the Race Track was not pulling in profits like it used to. This is a brand new casino that is relatively small compared to most casinos' in the surrounding area. Sorry table fans, no table games at this location. There is one floor level of plenty of slot machine fun! There are all the old favorites like cash coaster and Wheel of Fortune and plenty of other fun, new games to play. There are plenty of 1 cent, 2 cent, 25 cent and $1.00 options. There are a couple of little restaurants inside but no big buffet. I think the Detroit casinos spoiled me because I really don't like not being able to get my own soda and coffee for free. I don't like asking a server to get me anything because I move around so much. Maybe if she came with the drinks already loaded on her tray I might be tempted to take one but they take orders and then return with the drink, no thanks. Today was super-spin Sunday. I waited in line 30 minutes for a chance to swipe my card at one of the 2, you heard it TWO promotional machines and I go zip, zero nada...that kind of put me in a mood for the rest of my stay. I understand gambling means losing but ugh, waiting in line 30 minutes...no thanks. The other thing I don't care for is I don't understand how to retrieve my comps. Racing & slots? JACKPOT! Thistledown is, by far, one of my favorite casinos. And no, it's not because I just won over $500 yesterday, honest! I've won close to that numerous times in the past. I've been going to Thistledown for years now. It's a really fun environment with great music (sometimes live music!), a dance floor, multiple bars, good food, live horse racing, lots of tvs, and nice staff (I haven't ran into anyone unpleasant yet). The American Burger Bar has REALLY good bacon cheeseburgers & chili dogs. I'm not a fan of steak fries or onions straws. If they had regular fries, it would be perfect! The Slush Bar has more than 20 flavors of frozen drinks, great anytime, excellent in the summer! Plus the Mexican food isn't bad either. Best of all, the machines aren't super tight. I don't always win big but I never leave suicidal either. If you're looking for great music, fun slots, yummy food, and good alcohol, this is your place! read more

To clarify didn't come to gamble but to get dance my dance on. Every Friday night DJ Hazmat of 93.1 FM spins from 8-midnight old school hip hop. No cover charge. However, every few songs happens to be some song that happens to have some line dance routine to it. Not the typical electric slide or wobble, some new and different routines that you don't see at a typical wedding reception. The crowd is a nice mix (old and young, danced with a friendly lesbian couple as well). Crowd was not pretentious. Kudos to the entire Racino staff, so friendly and helpful like they genuinely enjoy working there. Also, I'm used to Vegas casinos, so be forewarned no complementary alcoholic drinks for gambling. During my last encounter there, construction is underway to reface the front of the casino and add an attached parking garage. read more

I am currently having an issue with my points and my Players Card. It seems there is absolutely no one in the Promotions Department that can help. After several phone calls, I just keep getting put into someone else's voicemail with no return call at all. I go to Thistledown often and myself (or any customer with an issue) should be of high importance to get the issue resolved. This is not the case with Thistledown. Myself and 4 other people went to watch the live racing. There was another group of 6 people that were outside watching the 8th and final race of live racing for the day. As soon as the race ended there were 10 people that were still outside after it finished and when we went to walk in 5 min after the race concluded we were all locked out!!! We asked to be let in and the employee said she would call security and we were were informed 5 min later that we had to walk all the way around the building so we could reenter the establishment. We gladly took our money to MGM to play the slots and enjoy the rest of our evening. JACK made us feel like they dont give a crap about the people that walk into their establishment. Valet was open, but twice now, after sitting there for several minutes no body came. I went to Jack Thistledown Racino on Wednesday March 9, 2016 - their first day with their new Jack branding - having never been to their previous iteration, as I'm new to Cleveland. I had a nice time and enjoyed the slots. I've been back several times and the comps and free play on my card have never lit up. My card seems to just not work. I talked to employees on the floor, at the cage, at guest relations, and anywhere else I could. No one was able to explain the issue, resolve the problem, call me after I was told I should expect a call. I was told to keep my card in the machine and someone would find me with an answer, and guess what? No one ever came. I don't see how I could ever come back, given that their customer service is disgraceful and I never received my comps nor and explanation, which is just bad business. Please save your time and money and go have fun elsewhere. This place is a joke. read more

Example: Restrooms, check and ticket cashing, restaurants, valet parking, and promotions are a joke. This place has gone down hill. Poor service... more so in the Vip room than the rest of the place. The waitress working in there is VERY nasty when speaking to paying customers. She regularly has melt downs and temper tantrums TOTALLY CHILDISH AND UNNECESSARY. Not sure how she has a job working with the public. I took my girlfriend on a quick day trip play slots. That's all we wanted to play and we were doing great. My play style is slow so we can be sitting a game for some time. We ordered drinks at a machine and waited about 18 minutes. So we moved a short distance away and played inter game keeping watch for our drinks. We finally ordered a second round of drinks ...again this was a 20 min wait. We walked over to the inside bar and found both orders sitting there with 3 servers standing around talking. The lady working the patio bar should get 5 stars as she got our drinks up for us quick! I spoke with management and was pretty much ignored. I was bursting with excitement to come here. I moved away from Ohio about 4 years ago, so the last time I had been here, it was simply Thistledown... and I loved it then. There are two distinguishable areas, one for the race track and one for the slots... and as I walked in bringing my mom, dad, and gf... the wonderful, musical, sounds of winning... and losing...slot machines met my ears. Ahhhhhhhhhhh... however, I had to move on, because I was here for the horses.. :) Parking and entry are free. We had to ask to figure out where to go, but there is no shortage of people to ask. It was just super cool to see this place packed with people. Finally we made it over to the Races... and we took some seats, and bet on some races and had a great time. I love the automated kiosks to place your bets... but also friendly people if you prefer to go that route as well. I did notice that there is a covered, outdoor area with slots for the smokers, right out by the track. After some races, and (yikes) some slots, and some food, I'd say that was a trifecta of a great time!!! Will be back!!! read more

Came here looking for a casino, you know a few tables, a few slots, couple of drinks and maybe a little music in the background. What I got was a "Racino" What's a racino? I guess at an hour earlier than 9pm there's some kind of racing and due to that, there's no tables, raggedy slots and no drink service at said raggedy slots. The "VIP lounge" had 0, that's right 0 people in there. Not very VIP because there was no difference in the lounge than there was outside this "lounge." I will give one star for the diner like restaurant that had decent food and the "lounge" (read bar w/tables, chairs and a band) that had a cute lady singing some old school hits. Other than that this place wasn't work the $9 I paid to Uber here and it's really a misnomer. I should also mention if you are under 40, you won't see anyone there that looks like you. For what its worth...if your into gambling Racino is beyond amazing, especially because its located in the suburbs so its convenient for some folks. If your not a gambler, like myself the place is just okay. But even non-gamblers can enjoy themseleves here. So this can easily be a chilldown, date-night, or wild party night kind of place. FOOD: it is quite tasty and prices are equally reasonsable. The beef tastes real and for under $8 bucks you get a burger and fry. Even the milkshakes are yummy. PEOPLE: all shapes, sizes, colors, incomes and backgrounds....this si evident as soon as you walk in. GAMBLING: the whole place is slots only on the first floor and racing on the 2nd floor. MONEY: If you live in the close community they send you free money to spend on food and slot machines. ENTERTAINMENT: pretty solid local talent performs here. October 29th, 2019 approximate time 4:30 PM Using my Bank of America debit card I completed the transaction for a cash withdrawal at an ATM kiosk on the second floor inside the casino. Most occasions when using my Bank of America Card (chip on card) for cash withdrawal, I simply enter my pass code and the cash is dispensed. On this occasion, a slip is dispensed and I am prompted to complete the transaction at the cashier's window. After waiting in line, the cashier asked calls me to his window. I am asked to present my debit card and proof of ID. I present the debit/credit card and drivers license. Both instances, I am prompted in a condescending tone. Place them flat on the counter. Grady, the cashier now starts to key in data on his keyboard. Each character is entered one at a time with one finger. No Worries. . As Grady views my driver's license, he says to me in a condescending tone" I see you are xx age". I note his math is questionable because the age he states is incorrect. No worries. I ask, "What does my age have to do with the transaction". Now Grady slowly scans my driver's license and ask, "Is this your zip code". Now, I am asked to insert my debit/credit card into the card reader, sign and accept. Quickly, I notice the card reader does not respond to my entire signature. I go thru this scenario twice. Both times listening to Grad's condescending tones. Finally, I ask for a supervisor. Grady summons an employee nearby. The employee was able to complete the transaction and stated. "Bad Card Reader" (My thoughts, Really, Really! At a casino. Why not take it off line and or replace it). In summation, how can the casino hire a person with Grady's attitude to work in the capacity of greeting customers? Time and time again, when visiting your casino I have encountered employees like Grady. Although the Jack is more convenient, I am tempted to bypass The Jack and head south on Northfield to The MGM. Thistledown is awesome because you go there and it is in this ratty part of town that you only go to if someone you know is dying at South Pointe Hospital and there it is. An oasis with horses and a grille and you can gamble and even gargle with watered down liquor. When a race ends you can just yell out something like just drop the f-bomb really loud and no one will blame you or judge you. It can be cathartic even if you didn't bet on any of the horses. Horses that run is awesome just ignore the dicks riding them with the whips. They're not really whips that hurt. Little man disease. I'm no little man. Here's the food review you yelpers: at the grille order the 'hillbilly hamburger' with double the meat. It's a three quarter inch ( 3 + inches if you double down) of bologna that is fried in grease on the flat top. Nothing else but that and the bun. Are you kidding me? It is the best food in the whole world and no matter what, it makes me want to hate everything else in the whole world and only go to thistledown and only eat this. maybe fries or chips. and bet on horses and drink liquor and live in the apartments across the street and die at South Pointe with a heartless arabic doctor yawning at my demise.
