Quick, attentive, and can handle a packed room like it's a light Tuesday even when it's not. The food is where this place sneaks up on you. You walk in thinking drinks... then suddenly you're mentally rearranging your week so you can come back for tacos. The Tommy Gun Tacos with shrimp are my go-to, and I'll back the buffalo wings, Blind Pig Nachos, and Franky's Garlic Truffle Fries every time. It's one of those menus where you cannot go wrong - IT'S ALL DELICIOUS! They've also got a pool table, shuffleboard, and both indoor and outdoor seating, so whether you're trying to relax, compete, or just pretend you're good at shuffleboard, you're covered. Our happy little group of two couples discovered the SHS by accident in a Facebook post. We decided we really wanted to check it out soon. We dropped in yesterday, a Saturday evening, and chose to try a mix from the menu. We had burgers, salads, wraps and sandwiches and beverages at our table. To say that we were happily surprised would be a profound understatement! The staff were warm and friendly from the second we walked in the front door. That feeling continued throughout our stay. No request was too challenging, no accommodation was problematic. When a sample was requested, the staff smiled and gave an immediate "of course, we can!" reply. The food was tasty, hearty, prepared to order ... nothing pre-made and kept under warming lamps here ... in impressive portions with unbeatable (almost unbelievable) prices! For us, this was a half-hour trip to get there ... and we found ourselves greatly pleased we had chosen to give it a try. Respect this place for what it is, a rural pub with great food, wonderful prices and a family atmosphere. You won't find china and crystal here, and the trappings are humble. But things are clean, the ambiance is family-friendly, and the welcome is sincere. If you haven't gone yet, you'd best get it on your "to-do" list. You'll be glad you did. You might even see us there, because this is going to be on our frequent flyers list of places to visit regularly. Go ahead, take a drive to the countryside, you'll thank yourself (and me) for it.
