    Coal fired meatballs

Super disappointed with a pizza spot that Dave Portnoy gave an 8 to. I wanted crispy coal fired pizza but instead ended up with a doughy, undercooked pizza. The toppings were good though, I will say that. The meatball appetizer was not great. The sauce was bland and bright red. No body to it. A good meatball will fall apart if you try to cut it. These were rock solid. I think they make these as cheaply as possible. Reminded me of a Subway meatball, which is the worst you can get. The staff was pleasant. Nothing above the ordinary. The interior was nice. Overall it was like Olive Garden in a pizza restaurant. Not my favorite spot.

Jack's just isn't as good if you aren't sitting down in the restaurant itself. There is something about it where it needs to be piping hot in order to be at its best. But thankfully, Jack's thrives on the decor and ambiance inside. It's kind of speak-easyish when you walk in, in few ways does it feel like a pizza joint. But that's what they are known for and probably 90% of its customers are there to indulge in. The chairs are very cool looking, a throwback to say the 50s or 60s. Bright red with high backs to them. They have both high tops and low tops for families to enjoy like ours. And of course an almost always busy bar on the right as you walk in. The pizza is stellar with super fresh tomato sauce, cooked perfectly crispy as you want for a bit of a crunch. The truffle fries with chipotle aioli are superb. And to round out a quick meal, go with the Romaine salad. Just the right balance of parm pieces, bread crisps and a hint of anchovy. There is not much you can go wrong with here. I need to try out the drink menu sometime sans kids. But man are we all big fans. Dine-in like I said for the best pizza experience not to be missed in this general area.

    Jacks!

It was a cool, laid back environment. Pizza was pretty good with awesome crust. The service was not great. It took 20 minutes to get our drink order, food came in out in a normal time. They checked on us one time and we asked for refills but never got them. We won't be back.

I was hoping for a Frank or Sally apizza, being coal fired. What I got was average pizza that was just ok. I was the only one in the restaurant, which was very nice, but lots of real estate to fill. If you can find the restaurant, don't trust Google Maps, then eat here. If you can't find it, you are not missing anything special.

The food was good! We had the lemon herb rubbed wings with a side of ranch (to die for!! Super herby and creamy!) and blue cheese (good but not too strong), the wings were great, could use a little more rub and lemon on them but they were so crispy and fresh I'd get them again! 2 pizzas as well. One was the carnivore, very filling but I wish the sausage was broken into smaller pieces instead of huge chunks and spread around more and perhaps thicker pepperoni, overall the flavor was pretty darn good. And we had the polpetta, the meat ball was absolutely delicious as was the creamy ricotta, the carmelized onion had a bit of a funk to it almost sour but still edible. It just kinda threw off the overall flavor of the pie. All in all I would go back and try some other menu items! The waitress was very sweet and made sure to check in on us. And the interior was beautiful, nice and dark with red seats, I enjoyed the ambiance! Especially loved that o could see into the kitchen!

Great spot to pregame for hockey down the street! Attentive bartenders...great food...can't go wrong!! One of the best bloodys in Burlington!

$55 to order a lg cheese pizza with no sauce or cheese and a Caesar salad that takes up 1/4 of the container it comes in... Included a 20% tip to get it delivered and I get this for a salad, lettuce is not that costly guys... Why would you offer a salad and give this amount of lettuce. Three maybe four "croutons" (notice how you can't see any) This is insane. Quality went down hill and I hate to say it, never again. Keep away until they fix this quality issue.

We can hear on a recommendation from a friend on a Friday evening. No reservations, but we didn't need them. It was not busy at all on a Friday evening at 7 o'clock. I don't know if that's good or bad or just a fluke. The waitress was good, I think she was new. She asked lots of questions of us but she was super pleasant and sweet. We got a large pizza and a small pizza. The large one was a white pizza, and I don't actually remember which one it was but it was good. The small pizza was a standard fare red pizza with meat on it. I think it was called the salami? We got calamari to start which was really good and a bowl and a very large portion for an appetizer. We didn't get drinks, but got soda and water. Thanks came out pretty fast. The pizza was good. A little hair too soft from my liking, I like a little bit more of a crisp or crust, but the flavors they are. And I would absolutely go back. Still trying to figure out why they were literally no patrons when we went in there. However, around 830 or so, couples were coming in and sitting at the bar. So maybe that's the vibe? But we would definitely go back.

Prices? Wings (7 ) $15.50! Great wine selection. Bar area loud. Seating red leather casino booths, fireplaces in winter, outdoor patio???

A metal shank in my meat balls.

Pizza id great, but the price of a martini ($19) is almost as much as the pizza, so I won't be back.

There's a difference between coal fired and burnt to a cinder. I got burnt to a cinder.

They have a nice dining room and we found our server to be friendly and efficient. We started with a caesar salad, portion size was huge for a small, but it was just OK. a bit overdressed with a bottled dressing. Nothing special, here. Next , we ordered a red pizza with mozzarella. The crust was cooked to perfection, but I honestly felt it was a little underseasoned. Lots of mozzarella, but no salty flavor. Not sure if they skip parmesan and romano. Did I eat and enjoy, of course. Did I love it? Not so much. Pizza is such a personal food item, and clearly Pepe has a huge and loyal following. I'll return and try again. P.S. The only reason I am not giving five stars is because I personally didn't LOVE the food, I just found it to be ok, but the friends I was with all loved it. I am sensitive to things being too cheesy or fatty and i found some of the dishes to be too oily, so it's just a personal preference thing. I'd absolutely come back here and try other things on their menu. The manager was also super sweet and our waiter doubled as our photographer lol. The citrus honey torta for dessert was divine. The portions were huge for everything I took a lot home. The truffled eggplant appetizer was good but the truffle oil addition was too much for me on top of all the melted cheese and burrata. It was still good tho. They were accommodating to dietary restrictions and I got the lumache à la vodka without the pancetta. It was good but tbh I prefer the Cheesecake Factory's spicy vodka sauce next door. The breadsticks I had never seen before, they were like thin flatbread slices with garlic butter. I am a huge lover of garlic bread but I found these to be way too oily too, so that's been the general theme for me, tone down the oil a bit, but otherwise excellent concept and ambience. All in all it was a great experience and I would do it again. I believe we caught the last weekend (for now at least) of the flora's corner experience but I would come back here on a regular day and try other items on the menu.

At 5pm on a Thursday we were seated next to a table where the GM was interviewing a candidate for a management position. "Pizza is not our product," the GM said. "It's what gets people in the door. Our product is customer service." Really? Then you're failing. No one was at the front desk when we walked in. Several employees sat in the front booths on laptops, and nobody approached us for five minutes. Both of our pies arrived uncut. Neither the expediter nor the waitstaff noticed, so we had to ask for them to be cut. Despite all the floor staff milling around, the bartender was assigned as our server. I don't blame her, she was hustling alone to get her station ready. Nobody asked if we wanted another round or dessert. We had to chase down our check. All while the GM expounded on how tired he was of managers, several of whom he'd apparently just lost, failing to motivate their crews. Dude, you're obviously part of the problem. This is how a beloved brand dies.
