Cacoila Dinner (f25)
Jeff J.

Dinner for 7. - Ambiance (3*) Spartan interior- nothing that screamed Polish-Portuguese. It was also really loud inside. - Service (3*) Very nice servers though food came out excessively slow. - Octopus Toast, $22 (1*) I'm honestly not sure what I was eating. The toast was mushy, the balsamic overwhelmed, and what little octopus there was I simply could not taste. - Cacoila Dinner, $26 (3*) The pork was slow roasted beautifully. Soft and tender. But it was under-seasoned. It needed more salt. - Value (3*) The octopus toast is pretty expensive considering what it was. The pork was pretty generous for the price. Wish I hadn't had the octopus, or this could have been a 4* value. - Final Word I'm not sure what to think about this place. Perhaps I ordered the wrong things. It was decidedly average, with the octopus toast being one of the stranger things I've eaten of late. 2.5, rounded to a 3*.

Love all the fox decor! My boyfriend and I decided to try this super cute restaurant for dinner on Sunday night. The restaurant has a nice big bar and plenty of seating for groups and families. Thr nice waitress quickly sat us down wherever we wanted since there was plenty of seating to choose from. They have a nice beer and cocktail menu along with a mix of Portuguese and polish dishes. I wanted to try something new and went with their potabella mushroom grilled cheese which sounded good with a side of fries. My bf got their pirogues which they had a few different ones to choose from with a side of sauerkraut. Both dishes came out nice and hot and packed with flavor. My grilled cheese was full of meaty delicious cheese and the mushroom tasted perfect. My bf shared a bit of his pirogue and it was very good. We decided on getting dessert because everything looked so tasty. I got a slice of cheesecake and my bf got their malasadas. The cheesecake was super creamy and I really like the chocolate ganache they brought out which I got to pour on myself. The malasadas were hot and yummy also! The waitress was super nice and attentive and made our dining experience very enjoyable! We noticed they have themed nights during the week such as game night and trivia night which now gives us a reason to come back and dine in during the week!

This was just a quick bar stop for a drink. Although the bartender deserves 5 stars for fast service the drinks were just not good. The Margarita was made with sweet and sour mix which is never a favorite of mine. The price was the same as upscale hand- crafted cocktails served at restaurants that score 4 or 5 stars. Maybe a good beer stop?

Yessss. This was a very pleasant surprise for my friend and I. We decided to eat here after tennis. It's a Polish Portuguese restaurant. I had the paella. It was super good with socarat on the bottom. My friend had a salad with chicken. He did say that the salad was small for the price though. Overall, it was a very good meal. I will definitely want to come back to try their perogies.

Great spot!! In town on business and saw this place. We got grilled cheeses. The Cubano and the Polska. They were ridiculous. We had the bacon wrapped dates to start, also great. And the mac&cheese was outstanding. They use leftover Pierogi dough to make the pasta and it's perfect for Mac. Friendly server and a nice space. We will be back for pierogis!!

Have visited several times over the past 4 years when coming back to visit family in the area. A…read morenumber of other reviewers have commented that "things have changed", and I, unfortunately, agree. Visited on a Saturday evening - the place should be packed, but it wasn't. I easily secured a same day bar seat reservation for 8PM. After checking in, was seated at a half empty downstairs bar. No physical menus, everything was done via a QR which is fine I guess, but for a spot that positions itself as a premiere bar a bit tacky. The online menu on the public website is the only menu and where the QR takes you. I asked for a spirits list (logical for a cocktail forward bar), I got a quizzical look and a shrug of the shoulders in return. Given the menu was only 8 cocktails, picking from those I started with the Beachcomber Mai Tai for a whopping $18. This, if it's the true spec, should be a rum forward cocktail with 2 1/2 oz of rum. They batch their cocktails (not a problem) so I couldn't see their build, but there is absolutely no way this drink is made to specification - my guess is they are skimping on rum as a cost play, batching lets them get away with it. Drink was, frankly, pretty forgettable - not bad, just unremarkable. Wanting to see how they could do off-menu, I asked the bartender to make me a Hemingway Daiquiri. Now, for a cocktail bar that has a long history of rum centric and tiki leaning cocktails, this should be an off the top of their head cocktail. It's simple - white rum, lime and grapefruit juice, and maraschino liqueur. Bartender had never heard of it before, and then spent a few minutes staring in to his phone presumably looking up the recipe. He built it using Rhum JM white rum which is absolutely the wrong rum for this drink - it needs a white Cuban rum (which we know we can't get in the U.S.), so the usual sub would be Bacardi, Planteray 3 stars, Probitas, or others. Definitely not a Martinique agricole. This may be a too detailed nit for some, but with the framing that this is supposed to be a premium cocktail bar, this is an error that should not happen, and not for $18. Figuring the third time might be a charm, ordered the Trader Vic 1944 Mai Tai. This is the classic, the standard against which all others are measured. It's a distinct recipe, especially if you call yours the 1944 Mai Tai. This was not that. It was again light on rum with probably the wrong rums used in their blend. It was also substantially over dosed with orgeat making the almond sweetness an almost overpowering flavor versus playing a subtle supporting actor role. Again, swing and a miss. Drinkable if you like sweet, and don't mind hefty almond. But if you want to try the real Mai Tai - this is not it. Overall, for the price, fairly indifferent bar service, lack of information available to the customer (e.g., spirits list, etc.), and fairly off the mark cocktails I think you can find far better spots right now for that same money. If you definitely want that tiki inspired cocktail vibe - your better bet will be places like Wusong Road in Cambridge or Shore Leave in Boston, and I'm sure there are others. Sorry Baldwin Bar, you've lost your edge and it shows.

Our table had the chicken parm, chicken broccoli alfredo and scallops and everyone mostly enjoyed their meals. The reason for 4 stars is the scallops were supposed to be served over mush vellutata drizzled with basil oil and they were served on plain mashed potatoes. They did not tell us about this substitution and we ordered 2 of them. This was disappointing as it was a factor for why I chose to order the dish and I did not finish my meal. Additionally they have a profiterole on their dessert menu I was excited to try and that is no longer available. I'd encourage the restaurant to be more proactive about letting diners know of substitutions during the ordering process and to update their online menu.

Service here is top notch. From the minute you enter until the moment you leave. Stellar. Our waiter, Luis, was among the top 5 servers I've had in my life. He was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and had the long list of delicious sounding specials memorized. He walked me through the entire menu and recommended the items he thought I might like. And he nailed it. The guy was phenomenal. Clone this man and sell him to other restaurants. Wow. Flawless service from this gentleman. This kind of service is rare. He's the guy you expect at a high end establishment. I can't say enough about him. I promise I'm not related to him, he was just so good I needed to call it out. Post does so many things so well. Steaks! Perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The Long Bone (as they call it) came out cooked to the ideal color at the requested temp. Spot on. It had a side of 4 sauces to sample, each one unique and bursting with flavor. The steak was so juicy, it didn't need sauce, but you will need to try them anyway. Blue cheese butter? Yes please. Chef Jason knows steaks and it's a fact that cannot be denied. This is his second Post 1917 restaurant. The staff is well trained and it shows. Everyone seems so passionate about their job here. It shows in the food and the experience. The crab cakes, suggested by Luis, we're so good. More crab than cake, which meant you get alot of crab in every bite. Another perfect execution. Moist and flavorful. It's a must try. The wedge salad is a steakhouse staple and Post 1917 nails it. High quality blue cheese and fresh lettuce with bacon and tomato. Simple but awesome. Dessert was a key lime cheesecake. You can see and taste the key lime zest. I could have eaten 2 of these if I hadn't filled up on steak. The menu has steaks and seafood mainly, but they seem to do it all to perfection. I saw other dishes leave the kitchen and they all made me wish I ordered the whole menu. There was a seafood paella which looked like something I must try. The interior is huge and very well decorated. It feels so open and inviting. Overall... an easy 5 star restaurant. You need to go here. Take your friends. Take your family. Take your date. Post 1917 is what Lexington has been missing. Service is a shining star here.

The food was nothing short of exceptional. Both simple and deeply nuanced, every dish I tried offered a fresh, elevated take on a familiar favorite. Each bite was packed with flavor, making for a truly memorable dining experience. The shrimp tacos, for instance, were a seafood lover's dream--perfectly grilled shrimp paired with crisp, fresh vegetables and a creamy taco sauce, all wrapped in warm tortillas filled to the brim. As for the mozza balls, they were a revelation. Hot and crispy on the outside, generously dusted with fresh Parmesan, and bursting with rich, creamy mozzarella inside. The crust was so perfectly crunchy that even Sonic's legendary mozzarella sticks would have some serious competition. These golden bites of cheesy perfection were nothing short of divine. The fried shrimp were enormous and cooked to absolute perfection, encased in a flavorful, perfectly crispy batter. They were incredible on their own--so much so that the accompanying dipping sauce, while a nice touch, was completely unnecessary. The bruschetta was warm and fluffy, topped with juicy, perfectly ripened tomatoes and a generous handful of fresh, peppery arugula, all drizzled with rich, warm olive oil. There was plenty to share--but it was so good, you wouldn't want to. The food was so insanely good that I was kraving more before I even made it home--seriously, I considered turning the car around halfway just for another bite. The service was top-notch from the moment we sat down. Our server greeted us before we even had our chairs pulled out, welcomed us to Krave, handed us menus, and took our drink orders right away. She was back quickly with full glasses and a friendly smile. When we ordered appetizers, she kept us updated on their progress, making sure we never had to wonder when they'd arrive. Attentive, efficient, and genuinely welcoming--it doesn't get much better than that. She kept that same level of service throughout our entire visit--never missing a beat. Our glasses stayed full, our table stayed clear, and we never had to ask for a thing. This was the kind of service that makes you want to tip extra extra. The ambiance was perfect--Krave has the chill vibe down to a science. Relaxed atmosphere, great lighting, comfy seating, and just the right level of background noise to keep things lively without being overwhelming. If my kids hadn't been with me, I could've easily made myself at home at the bar for the afternoon. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. I usually try to visit a new restaurant every time I go out, just to keep things interesting. But Krave might have just messed up that plan--it's definitely earned a spot on my list of go-to places.
