I've only been practicing 2 weeks with Jack and he's patient, kind, and a lot of fun. Within those two weeks (2 half-hour sessions) I've learned more and practiced more than I ever imagined. I'm in my mid-40s and just starting lessons- I've tried before using other mediums but I really need the accountability factor. I couldn't ask for a better place to learn. read more

Our instructors use a progressive contemporary approach that gives students the proper skills needed for a lifetime of musical experiences. Throughout all programs, students learn in a fun, creative interactive environment, while learning the fundamentals of the language of music. Come find out why we're the go-to for music lessons!

History

Established in 2009.

Jack Shanahan - owner of Jack's Guitar Garage - has been teaching guitar for over 18 years. He is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and musician. Before opening his own studio, Jack ran a business teaching lessons privately and as an instructor at other music shops. During that time, his experiences allowed him to develop what he believed was the ideal combination of teaching style, collaboration, and curriculum. Jack committed himself to three principals. One was to write his own curriculum that would use the same style and familiar learning patterns throughout each level of competency. The second was to develop a team of teachers who would meet regularly, work together on projects, and use a similar teaching method to ease the transition from one level to the next. The third was to integrate musical experiences into his teaching program. Jack strongly believes that music is a representation of oneself. It cultivates our sense of expression, imagination and creativity

Meet the Business Owner: Jack S.

Owner, Instructor Jack Shanahan, owner of Jack's Guitar Garage, has been teaching guitar for over 15 years. He is a Berklee College of Music Schooled musician, multi-instrumentalist singer and songwriter. As a passionate teacher, Jack sees potential in every student who walks through his door. He has developed a versatile teaching style that encompasses fundamental skills, creativity, self-expression and fun. Jack's musical talents and performances have been recognized with numerous awards and accomplishments. As a high school band member, Jack received the "Luis Armstrong Jazz Award" for his trumpet performances. He has been recognized by Billboard Magazine six times for his songwriting.

First,…read morethe company needs to clearly EXPLAIN that past due payments apply to past due balance first and not regular monthly payments (don't tell customers all is well in the instrument universe when it very clearly is not). Second, they need to be consistent with past due notices. They shouldn't let nine months go by without any conversation or notification or past due fees and then start to harass customers and create fees and spam notices out of the blue. One star: perceived inconsistency and lack of knowledge as far as knowing/explaining customer accounts. Zero stars for being annoying when the mood hits them.

There is a lack of effort with being proactive. Their price, especially with the plan, is extremely high and their hours and staff helpfulness aren't fantastic. We paid $500 for a drum I see on Amazon for $109. And the quality of their instruments is not as special as they would have you think.

Before charging me any money, Gary suggested trying a low-dough remedy which I tried. The issue persisted so I contacted Gary on Christmas Day via email. He got back to me very quickly and was able to accommodate a last second repair just in time for a gig I had. Not only that but the expert repair that he performed was done AHEAD of schedule and at a VERY reasonable rate. I definitely recommend Gary for your guitar maintenance and repair needs. He's friendly, trustworthy and knows what he's doing. If you're in the Pepperell, Ashby, Townsend, Lunenburg, Fitchburg, Ashburnham areas, do yourself a favor and give him a try. I all but gave up on the thing until my friends told me about Cranky's. For a very reasonable fee, Greg worked on the frets, tremolo, tuning heads, saddles, and gave it a thorough cleaning. She now plays BETTER than in 1995, and I'm happy to report has taken its place as my main axe again! As far as I'm concerned, this is the only place that I will trust with my dearest guitars. You can find both old and new items here and a lot of garage sale style items. This is not Macys or Rodeo drive, this is a flea market so don't expect high end stuff-lol. I love the reviews about the older merchandise. They have plenty of parking and many vendors through-out the property. The snack bar is reasonably priced and clean. Tips- Get here early as many vendors tend to start packing up before they close. Inside dealers tend to have the same type of stuff week to week. The outside dealers tend to rotate and have more one time "garage sale" vendors. Take plenty of smaller bills, the dealers will thank you for exact payment. nothing worse than buying something for $2 and paying with a $20. Even though I prefer going early, you can get really good deals at the end of the day from dealers that don't want to bring stuff back home. It was recently sold to new owners but it's business as usual here.

The items are all in good condition and the prices are very fair. You can bargain with the owners as well and I didn't feel any pressure to walk out the door with a purchase. My fiance and I spotted an interesting bar table that we spoke to the owner about, she was happy to show us how it worked. I asked about the bargain basement which has since been let go due to the cost of the lease. I didn't purchase anything on my first visit but plan to check back periodically for furniture.
