Just had a very unpleasant experience at Continental Arms.  I went in to purchase a gift…read morecertificate for a friend.  The woman at the desk was busy so she asked the man by the gun display to call Terry (?) to come wait on me.  Well, "Terry" was totally nasty throughout the entire transaction.  When she asked me to write down the name of the recipient of the gift certificate, she basically threw a pad at me, and did not provide me with a pen.  There was never a "please" or "thank you" throughout the transaction.  And before I could even put my wallet back into my purse, said nasty woman shouted "next" to the individual behind me. Having worked retail for many years, I was appalled by the treatment I received.  If I had ever treated a customer this way, I would have been fired.  I can only assume the woman I dealt with was the owner of the Continental Arms.  No wonder Continental Arms only has a 3.7 rating on Google and a 3.3 rating on Yelp. In this day and age, when individual gun ownership is a highly charged subject, one would think an arms dealership would be more accommodating to the public at large. Last year I purchased a gift certificate from Continental Arms, and it was a smooth transaction.  This is why I decided to return toagain this year. Well, never again.

Upon entering I check in with the staff in front and then headed upstairs to where the class was held. Our instructor Stephanie was engaging and made class fun. Got our fingerprint done during class and then after the lecture we went and did some live firing. One of the downside is the bathroom only has 1 urinal and 1 stall, on this day the urinal was out of order so a long wait time to use the bathroom since only have one stall. All in all, it was a very straight forward process to completing the class and getting my HQL certificate and I would highly recommend anyone who in the area and need a HQL class to get it here. As for me I won't be back unfortunately due to the distance, gas price, and having to drive through dingy Baltimore to get to this facility.

Training available for new gun owners. Even if you only shoot a few times a year like me I would recommend joining.

They are the only public rifle range in the area, and are very safety conscious. Don't show up with a cavalier and smug attitude and you will be FINE. Better than fine. The range officers are highly experienced and are fountains of wisdom if you can check your ego at the door. I'm learning to shoot a flintlock and they have been nothing but helpful. And lightly chastised me when I forgot a rule. A "Yessir, copy that." and we're back to the shooting line. Highly recommend this place. My only frustration is that their hours/weather closures aren't published somewhere. It's a hour drive to get there... and an hour back because there's some inclement weather somewhere.

Rifle range is 25, 50, 100, and 200 yard target areas. They supply staplers for posting targets. The staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable. They are also very strict on the rules. Which they should be as you are handling firearms. They sell targets, hearing and eye protection and chamber flags. No ammo. There is a drink machine there, but bring your own.
