I initially made an appointment with this location and had to cancel because of over scheduling on my part. On the day of my rescheduled appointment, I appreciated that there was no one in the location except for Al. Although the sign read, that customers can conveniently drop off their taxes and return later for pick up when I suggested that Al seemed a bit put off. He promised that he would be done in 10 minutes.
I asked if he needed to see the previous year's tax return and he briefly looked them over and gave the package back to me. He had read on the folder the amount I had to pay the previous year's tax preparer and said to me Oh, did you go to a Mom and Pop shop? Well, you definitely will be paying more this year. Purely unprofessional! Believe me, if I had time to leave I would have but this appointment was made on July 10 and this year's returns were due to be mailed by July 15.
I did not like his attitude and did not feel comfortable with him. I personally felt uncomfortable paying $444 for my taxes to be prepared and owed $4100 in federal taxes.
I left that day feeling sick!
Then, the next day I received a call from Al admonishing me because he had called the previous evening and had not been able to reach me. He explained that he had not taken a deduction out of the taxes and needed me to return. Luckily, I was right around the corner. I thought I would just pick up the reprinted documents and leave but again I had to wait while he took his time to enter something in the system.
I believe had he looked at my previous tax returns he would have seen the deduction listed there.
Customer service goes a long way. Tax preparation for me is always stressful and uncomfortable. Had he been more friendlier I might have felt comfortable, safe, and trusting to make that hefty payment and accept that he made a mistake or if I want to be kind...an oversight. read more
