Exceptional Dining & Unmatched Service! We visited Jackson's Prime in Jonesboro on Tuesday to take advantage of their prime rib special with family visiting from out of state. It was our first time dining here, and it exceeded every expectation. Because of the summer heat, our company had only packed casual clothes. Even though it's a high-end, upscale steakhouse, we were treated with total warmth and hospitality--our attire was never an issue. When rain cut our walk through town short, we arrived an hour ahead of our reservation, but the host team graciously seated us without a hitch. The real star of our evening, however, was our waiter, Jayden. Simply put, Jayden was exceptional. From the moment we sat down until we walked out the door, he made us feel like the only table in the entire restaurant. He was incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond at every turn. Every part of the meal was outstanding--from the expertly crafted drinks to the delicious prime rib dinner and dessert. We even ended up bringing home a bottle of their exclusive bourbon! To top off an already perfect night, Jayden helped us celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary (which we hadn't even mentioned beforehand) with a wonderful, thoughtful touch. I visited Jackson Prime on Thursday, August 20, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing before we ever had the opportunity to sit down and eat. I originally had an OpenTable reservation for 8:30 p.m. Earlier that day, while I was traveling from Kentucky to Johnson City, I received a call from the restaurant asking if I could move my reservation to an earlier time. I agreed and explained that, because I was traveling, the earliest I could reasonably make it was 7:30 p.m. My reservation was then changed to 7:30. We ended up arriving around 6:30 p.m. and checked in with the host, Caleb. I completely understood that we were an hour early and did not expect our reserved table to be immediately available. However, although the restaurant was busy, we could see several empty tables and booths, and there were no other guests waiting at the entrance. We were told our only options were to eat outside or sit at the bar. I asked if we could simply have a drink at the bar while waiting for our 7:30 table, which seemed like a perfectly reasonable request and something I have done at countless restaurants. Surprisingly, we were told no. At that point, we agreed to just eat at the bar. Caleb told us there were two seats available and walked us through the restaurant. Along the way, we passed empty booths and tables, only to arrive at a completely packed bar where there was actually only one available seat; another seat was being saved for someone else. Before we could even explain that there were not two seats available, Caleb turned around and disappeared toward the kitchen, leaving us standing there without any assistance or alternative. We returned to the front and told another staff member that we were leaving because there were not actually two seats available at the bar and no other reasonable option had been offered. After leaving, I decided to call and ask to speak with a manager because the entire interaction had been so unusual and unprofessional. Caleb answered the phone and placed me on hold for several minutes. I called back and was placed on hold again. Eventually, a woman came to the phone, but rather than simply listening to my concerns about the way the situation had been handled, the conversation immediately became defensive and she told me she had questions for me. At that point, I ended the call because it was clear that expressing my concerns was going nowhere. I dine out frequently and have been fortunate to visit many wonderful restaurants, from casual establishments to very high-end dining. I do not expect special treatment, and I certainly understood that we arrived earlier than our reservation. What I do expect is basic courtesy, professionalism, and reasonable communication--especially from a restaurant that had contacted me earlier that same day asking me to accommodate their request by changing my original reservation. Unfortunately, that was not the experience we received at Jackson Prime. What stood out most was not that we couldn't be seated an hour early; it was the dismissive and unprofessional way the entire situation was handled. A restaurant can have excellent food and a beautiful atmosphere, but the way guests are treated from the moment they walk through the door matters just as much. read more

We had an excellent dinner at Jackson's Prime! Damian was friendly and helpful with menu selections, and made our visit enjoyable. We got Mayors Salad and Burrata salad to start (yummy) and then shared a tomahawk steak with a lobster tail. Outstanding! We loved it. Dessert was cheesecake and lava cake, also very good. The food was phenomenal. I had the filet and my husband had the halibut. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and very accommodating. We sat outside. Tonight we had the pleasure of experiencing the newest restaurant in historic downtown Jonesborough, Jackson's Prime. The ambiance was wonderful, the food was amazing, but the service, by everyone, but especially Sam our waiter, was the icing on the cake. He was attentive, knowledgeable and a pleasure to have a conversation with. Our evening was phenomenal. I don't know when we've enjoyed a restaurant more. From start to finish, a wonderful experience. The cocktails were perfection - great smoked old-fashioned, brought out in a "smoke box". Very unique and tasty appetizer - duck fat queso - greatly appreciated by this seasoned queso lover from Texas. The homemade bread was warm, fresh, and perfect for dipping in the provided olive oil and herbs with cracked pepper. Then the entrees. My wife had the Fettucini Alfredo with chicken - delicious. My mother-in-law had the Bucatini Pasta Della Rosa - the largest, juiciest-looking shrimp I've seen in a while on top. And I had the Jim's Filet - 8 ounces of filet mignon, cooked exactly to my requested medium-rare, with the best crust and flavor I've EVER had. I will dream about the crust on that steak. Even the asparagus I had with it was wonderful - slightly charred, cooked past the woody stage, but not overcooked to mushy, with a delicious hollandaise sauce. Then, the desserts - Key Lime Pie for me and the mother-in-law, and NY Cheesecake with berry coulis for my wife. Best Key Lime Pie I've ever had also, perfect balance of sweet and tart, very smooth texture. Even the coffee my mother-in-law ordered was a treat - brought out on a tray in a great presentation. Continuing in that vein, everything LOOKED as good as it tasted - wonderful presentations on everything. And the service was very attentive and very patient with the various boxes we requested, different drinks, etc. - thanks so much to Elissa, our server. I was so excited to try Jackson's Prime tonight for a late V Day dinner. The restaurant is beautiful. The food was delicious. The calamari was outstanding! Love the Thai chili and the dips that come with it. The main course was rich and filling. And, the smoked Old Fashioned was top of the charts. The smell when it came out was phenomenal. Our server, Sam, was attentive and had a great personality. We loved him. The whole experience was awesome! read more

What a disappointment..... we actually waited three weeks after finding out about this place to make a reservation and try it out. Heard on the radio that Tuesday night was their prime rib night.... So having to work on Tuesday evenings, we had to wait to make the reservation. We sat down the waitress, give us the specials and she didn't mention the prime rib... I said Tuesday night is prime rib night right and she said yes, but you have to make a reservation for it... there was no mention of this on their radio advertisement.. the very reason that we made the reservation for Tuesday night!! I just heard the radio announcement again and they mentioned Tuesday night prime rib night 2995 but nothing about having to make a reservation for it!! we made the reservation online. I wouldn't really expect there to be any kind of warnings or advertisement on that. I decided to have the special, which was the pork chop.... I don't eat steak out very often., we have a great butcher, and I get amazing beef from him so if I want a ribeye, I just cook it at home.. the pork chop and the potatoes were extremely salty.. It was edible, but it was a struggle. Side salad I had to start with was very good. My wife had the salmon and it was extremely salty.... To the point that she sent it back and had them redo it. She had the French onion soup., again extremely salty... I tried it not being a big fan of French onion soup just to see how salty it was, and it actually burned the inside of my mouth. It was so salty. We started the meal with the fried calamari., way over, battered and again extremely salty. We talked about that they could just be having an off night... But when a gentleman next to us ordered, he requested no salt, I think it is because he had been there before. Not sure if we will be back or not the meal was 138.00 including the tip, and it was definitely not worth that. It is hard for me to believe that a restaurant can stay in business and charge those prices for food that was as bad as what we got., hopefully they were just having an off night. read more

We came in during Happy Hour (4-5), and were able to enjoy our time with our neighbors...and split (2) calamari, the Wagyu burger, a salad and several well prepared libations...all at a "we'll be back more often" price. The Food prices are a bit high for the quality. Steak was ok. Drink prices are also high especially since they are not inclusive of the Tennessee liquor but the drink tax of 15% - so remember to add 15% to every drink you buy.(most restaurants include it in the drink price) Also they add a 3% surcharge for using a credit card. So if you drink and use a credit card, be prepared for about a 30% add on to your bill for the credit card fees, LBD tax and regualr tax. Their $20 Old Fashioned is actually $23.50 read more

We started with calamari and stuffed mushrooms. We had the trout, NY strip, and two filets. With Brussel sprouts, garlic mashed potatoes, and truffle fries. All were absolutely delicious - truly the best filet I've personally had in the area. The cocktails that we tried were great and reasonably priced. We had a special dinner last Thursday night. We live 3 miles away and felt we stepped into a 5 star restaurant in a metr city. Everything is first class. Excellent service surpasses all restaurants in our area the Smokey old fashioned was fun and great. Try it and be surprised. The lettuce and burrata salads were perfect. Finally the steaks remind you why prime beef is special. Enjoy the cut above.
