This is my second time here. First time I just had just a beer. If you come on a Saturday afternoon it is quiet. On a Wednesday, it was loud! I brought my wife this time and she was OK with it but didn't love it. We started with a great IPA and then ordered the Loaded Beer Cheese Nachos: they were fantastic! We really loved them! We got two sandwiches (a Reuben and a Rachel), both were good but the Reuben was a bit better. Overall, great service, great beer, great food, and I'll be back. read more

Let's start with food- Amazing steamed sandwiches! They use quality ingredients and we swear they put love in every one! Also for those doing keto- they can make any sandwich as a "salad bowl". They also have yummy pretzels and hot dogs. The staff is friendly and fun. They really add to your overall experience. We always feel welcomed there. They recently relocated and did an exceptional job at making their place bigger and better. Nice outdoor area! Now for the brews! They do a great job at keeping something for everyone- including a domestic and cider! You can always find a brown/porter or stout. IPA's (New England and West Coast style), blonds, scotch ales, reds, a good sour or Gose- I can keep going:) They hand wash the glasses so no weird cleaner taste to taint your brew. Model City Tap House was a such a blessing to Kingsport when they first opened. The town desperately needed a revamping and Tap House is one of the venues that helped kick it off. Tap House is beer only (obviously), but they have a nice range of selections! They are huge supporters of local breweries which is awesome! If you're hungry, they serve sandwiches and soup until around 8 P.M. (I believe) that are delicious! I'm a vegetarian, and I still like the sandwich I get there. There's plenty of entertainment for all ages- from live music, to trivia, to bingo... you name it. In the back part of the venue, they have video gaming, darts, corn hole.. even a piano! There's never a dull moment at Tap House, that's why my friends, family, and I love going! Huge thanks to the owners and workers for bringing fun to Kingsport again! read more

I have cried over the deli sandwich factory on stone drive closing many years ago. My brother and sister-in-law directed me to this place. Steamed sandwiches are back in Kingsport! One of the few places worth visiting in downtown Kingsport and usually has a decent beer selection, and one or two ciders on tap from the local cidery. Good deals on sandwiches and hot dogs to keep you drinking. Service is hit or miss depending on who is behind the bar and what kind of mood they're in. Never had unfriendly service and they're on top of filling beers. Usually have live music a few times a week. read more

A good bar needs, first and foremost, a good selection. Model City has that. Also, the atmosphere is cool, they offer live music and steamed sandwiches. In a downtown that is trying its' best to thrive, this place could be a real draw. Other thing a good bar needs? People working there to interact with customers. I don't need to be entertained, but there are other bars in town with bartenders who will make eye contact, ask me if I want something to eat, and maybe even say thanks when I leave. I was one of 3 or 4 people at the bar with 4 people behind the bar, so make a little conversation! I would have spent more money and time, but I felt like I crashed a private party. Awesome selection (24) of craft beers with an occasional cider thrown in. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable and has tried all the beers (or will tell you if they haven't). They're happy to give recommendations and are honest about beers they don't care for and why. Tastes are available. Steamed subs are made to order and are excellent. All beer service is from the bar but food (also ordered from the bar) is delivered to your table. The staff will know your name by your second or third visit. All in all, my favorite downtown Kingsport spot. read more
