I took my dog (Cooper) in with issues of not eating or drinking and having a hard time walking…read more After spending a total of 5 minutes (including the check in process) in the clinic, the vet gave him a shot. I asked him what was wrong with Cooper and his words were, "Well, I don't know since I've spent a total of 3 minutes with him." He then told me to bring him back in the next day so he could see how the shot helped. I then asked him what the shot was for if he didn't know what was wrong and he told me it was for a pinched nerve. Within 2 hours of receiving this shot, Cooper was dead! My mother called the vet back to ask what he treated Cooper for and he told my mom it was a slipped disc in his back and that the shot was a combination of an antibiotic and a pain killer. I should have turned around and walked out as soon as I walked into this "clinic." It was dirty, nothing had been updated since the 80's (including equipment), and when we went back to the exam room to see the vet he had a table of medicines with a syringe on that table next to the medications. I'm sure he had used this syringe on other animals and I didn't see him clean it off before or after he used it on Cooper. This vet needs to be put out of practice so no other family has to suffer like ours did. Explaining to my 5 year old daughter that her dog had died while she was at school was something we shouldn't have had to do that day!

However, my experience with Dr. Martin was terrible and I would hate for anyone else to go through what my family and I did while using him as a vet. We used Dr. Martin for years. Like most pet owners in Cabot, we were pleased with the reasonable pricing. I'm not sure when his practice started going downhill but in retrospect, I wish I would have chose a better vet and paid a little extra while I still had the chance. Two of our fur babies died in his care, and I just found out our other dog has heart worms that were never diagnosed, although he supposedly tested her last time we were in. It's a good thing we hadn't yet given her the box of preventative he prescribed. If so, she could have possibly had a heart attack or stroke. Our two pups that died were lab-dane mixes. They were healthy, happy pups until they were around 16 weeks old. We made sure to get all their shots on time, gave them vitamins and did all a good dog owner should do. I'm not sure how or where they contracted parvo but they did. I brought the first pup that contracted the disease to Dr. Martin as soon as I realized she wasn't wanting to eat. He felt around on her throat and stomach and didn't say anything to me except "Just bring her back tomorrow and I'll give her another shot." Not realizing that we were dealing with parvo, I thought maybe she was just a little sick and be over it in a few days. That's when my other pup began vomiting. I brought them both back to the clinic. I couln't carry them in alone so the woman at the front desk told a young, rough looking guy to go help me bring them in. Both pups had vomited all over each other and were in no shape to walk on a leash. He didn't seem to notice and tried pulling them out of my SUV by their collars. I told him they were too sick to walk and needed to be carried. When he didn't listen I told him to forget it. I'd bring them in somehow. Realizing I was mad at that point, He roughly grabbed one of them from my vehicle and walked inside. All Dr. Martin said was "They have septicemia, and will die if you don't keep fluids down them. I begged him to put them on IV fluids. He said it wouldn't help because IV fluids got straight to a dog's kidneys and it doesn't do any good. Every other vet I've talked to has been adamant that IV fluids are the best thing an animal can have while dealing with parvo. I left the clinic absolutely distraught and decided to get a second opinion from a vet in Beebe. By this time, it was too late. Within 3 days of seeing Doctor Martin, Mia died a horribly painful death. I couldn't bear to watch our second pup, Oakley, die the same way so we decided to have her put down. If Doctor Martin would have diagnosed her that first day I brought her in and at least gave IV fluids a chance, there's a large possibility we'd still have our two pups today. We spent hundreds of dollars that week to no avail. It would have been totally worth it if he would have at least given our dogs a chance. I understand parvo is unpredictable and in many cases can't be cured. However, a veterinarian is supposed to care about their patients. Dr. Martin obviously does not. Needless to say we are now using a different vet. Like I said at the beginning, my older dog is now having to be treated for heart worms that were never diagnosed even though we brought her in regularly and thought she was being checked for that. Sorry once again for the long review but I hope this helps people realize just who they're bringing their pets to. Our dogs are our babies and I feel terrible that we allowed them to be treated by Dr. Martin.

They knew in advance that my dog is a French Bulldog, a breed that is extremely sensitive to heat. The groomer arrived approximately two hours late on a day when it was around 110°F outside. When the van arrived, all of the windows were open, the inside was hot, smelled bad, and was visibly full of dog hair. It did not feel clean or prepared for a grooming appointment. I specifically asked whether the van was air conditioned because I was immediately concerned about putting my Frenchie inside such a hot vehicle. I was told that the generator had only just been started and that it "should be okay." That did not reassure me at all. I was originally quoted $118, which I already felt was very expensive considering my dog does not require a haircut. He simply needed a bath, nail trim, and his glands expressed. I agreed to the price because I assumed I was paying a premium for a convenient, professional mobile service. Once he was inside the van, I was told the appointment could take an hour to an hour and a half, which also seemed excessive for a short-haired French Bulldog. Because of the heat, I was very concerned about him. I texted the groomer asking how he was doing and received no response. I texted again and still received no response. I even went outside and knocked on the van because I was becoming genuinely worried that he could be in distress. No one answered the door. About 45 minutes later, he was brought back inside. I was told he did not like the dryer, so he was not dried, which I was completely fine with. However, the final price was $129 instead of the $118 I had been quoted. The payment screen then only presented tip options of approximately $17, $25, or $35. I ended up tipping $17 even though I did not feel the service warranted a tip. In total, I paid close to $150 for what was essentially a bath, nail trim, and gland expression, while also dealing with a two-hour delay, a hot and dirty van, poor communication, concern for my dog's safety, and a final charge higher than the amount I was quoted. For the price being charged, I expected a clean, climate-controlled van, punctuality, clear communication, transparent pricing, and appropriate precautions for a brachycephalic breed in extreme heat. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. I would not recommend this service, particularly to anyone with a French Bulldog or another heat-sensitive breed.
