We recently moved to the Little Rock area, so this was our first time at Kamp K9. We also decided to take our dog, Mika, to the vet who owns this kennel, Dr. Jennen. We requested an anti-anxiety pill be prescribed for Mika's visit to Kamp K9, because she barks and is anxious around storms and fireworks. We were given a prescription pill and a natural dog treat that is calming. We gave her half a pill before we dropped her off, and she responded well (calm, but still herself). We told the worker that we had already given her half a pill, and we stated that she seemed to do well on a half pill instead of the whole pill prescribed by Dr. Jennen. The prescription bottle clearly states that the pill should be given prior to a stressful event. I does NOT say that it should be given daily, so you dog is so drugged that she can barely stand, recognize its owner, or excrete properly! BUT this is the condition that my dog was in when I picked her up! She was so drugged that she couldn't walk out of the back area. I had to go back and get her, but she didn't even recognize me. She is a very energetic bordercollie/Aussie mix and she usually freaks out with happiness when I pick her up. I took her outside and she was unable to jump in the back of the car! I had to pick her up and place her in the kennel. I immediately counted the pills in her bottle. She was at the kennel for 2 nights and 3 pills were gone. I went back inside and questioned the worker about how many pills they had given her. She lied and told me that they had only given her 1 pill right before I arrived (It WAS actually storming). I called her bluff and told her that I knew how many pills were missing. At this point she admitted to giving her a WHOLE pill right after we dropped her off, a WHOLE pill the next day, and a WHOLE pill before I picked her up. I reminded her that we had already given her a half pill at drop off, so she had 1 1/2 pills at one time!! The worker clearly wasn't listening to our instructions. And they didn't even try the natural calming treats (we counted and none were used). In addition to my dog being almost unable to use her back legs, she was absolutely disgusting, dirty, and stunk. She had poop all over her hind quarters, because she was too drugged to poop properly. Finally, the communication about drop-off/pick-up times was terrible (no sign on door, no hours on website). And each worker told us different times. They told us there was a special pick-up fee of $25 for the 4th of July when we dropped her off, but nothing was said when we made the reservation. When we grew irritated, they called us back and said that there wasn't a fee. This is the worst kennel I've ever been to. Don't bring your pet here unless you are okay with them being drugged and returned with poop, pee, and god knows what else all over them! Now I have to give my dog a bath as soon as she can walk again. read more

02/08/16 Thank you SO much for pampering and beautifying Dolly and Sammie on Monday! They are so silky, smell beautiful, and LOVE their nail polish! :) Also, thank you for making their 'treat' enjoyable for them. :) 01/17/2016 SO excited that I found K9 Pet Resort & Day Spa! I treat my 'fur babies' as my children, & I was very comfortable leaving my 2 girls there today. We were able to be seen on the same day we tried to make an appointment. The staff is great! They had much information about all the services they provide, & work closely w/a trainer there to teach your animals basic obedience skills. And have the ability to train your animal to Service Animal level For what received, the pricing was beyond what I would call reasonable. 2 large labs were completely groomed, even down to painted toenails ;) for $20/each, due to an in-store special running for the month of January 2016. ($5 extra for the polish) K-9 Resort and Day Spa is the only grooming/boarding/daycare facility in the area that is owned by a Veterinarian. This made me feel so comfortable knowing that IF anything were to go wrong, we were in good hands and my ladies were safe. Also a note: This business operates @ 2 locations. read more

The first two times to day camp was okay the problem started when I left my baby overnight. The first overnight visit was terrible because of storms and he is a high anxiety dog and hates storms . They ended up taking him to the vet to be checked out which I thought was nice. The second time I took him to Kamp K9 I let them know about his medication that he has to take for seperation anxiety when we leave him which he never had to have at his previous boarder who retired :(. At any rate I told them to put the medication in his food 1in the am and 1 in the pm per his medication bottle . I was so upset when I got a phone call that my dog had bit the person giving him the medication .First of all I instructed them to put it in his food and second of all if he will not take it do not ever force medication down a dogs throat or yes you will get bit that is any dog!!!!!!!! I was told he was not allowed back on the premises. I told them even if he was allowed he would not be back I got my boy home he acted scared when I tried to pet him and ducked away from me he was definitely over medicated they gave him two pills at one time instead of one. Yes I keep count of the medication. If you want your dog to be overmedicated than by all means take your dog here ! If you want him to be scared of you when he comes home this is the place to be.
