A Masterclass in Medical Incompetence and Poor Management…read more This facility is an absolute joke. If you are looking for proactive care, competent front-office staff, or a medical team that honors its own protocols, stay as far away as possible. The Waiting Game- The process is a mess from the start. It took four months just to get a referral approved and an appointment set. Once you actually arrive, checking in is just a formality to sit in the lobby for what feels like an eternity, only to be rushed through the actual exam once you finally get into a room. Inflexible and Narrow-Minded Care- Don't bother asking about any secondary concerns. They strictly refuse to look at anything not explicitly mentioned on the referral. Even if you are sitting right in front of them with a visible issue, they won't lift a finger unless the paperwork allows it. Their "knowledge base" seems entirely dependent on cutting pieces out of you, the doctor explicitly stated she had no idea what my skin was doing and that a biopsy was the only solution. Broken Promises & Gatekeeping- The most egregious failure, is the lack of communication between the physicians and the administrative staff. The Agreement- The doctor told me it was "impossible" to diagnose without a biopsy during a flare-up. She instructed me to walk in immediately during a flare so they could finally get a sample. The Reality- When a flare-up finally occurred, I called to confirm--only to be met by Heather at the front desk. The Result- Heather flatly refused to honor the doctor's instructions, refused to consult with the doctor, and told me it would be days before I could even get a call back. This office is a revolving door of delays, ego, and medical negligence. Save your time, your money, and your skin, go somewhere that actually values patient outcomes.

The spot I wanted checked I was told was a clogged pore - prescribed an acne medicine, told to come back in 2 months. Keep taking the acne medicine, come back in another 2 months. Then prescribed another medication for another 6 weeks (reading online about it, not supposed to take for more than 2 weeks). So 1 year later, I go to a new dermatologist for yearly skin check, and spot I complained about 1 year ago is removed and sent for biopsy. Turns out it is basal cell carcinoma that went misdiagnosed for all those months, because the doctor never even looked close enough at it. STAY AWAY.

I showed him the lesion on my ear. He told me it was from my ear rubbing on my pillow. He gave me a cream to use for 3 months and it will clear up. I reluctantly used the cream as directed. The lesion did not heal. I went to get a second opinion at another Dermatologist and it ended up being a basal cell with squamous cells developing. So it was definitely skin cancer as I had suggested, but he was in such a hurry to get me out, that he failed in his job to simply do a biopsy to confirm what was obviously skin cancer... I would not recommend this clinic. Take your business out of town for better care.

I had two areas of concern which he did a great job. Then I asked him to cryo two brown spots where he was overly aggressive causing damage because he was angry to have to see a patient not deemed worthy of his acuity. Pictures reflective of the treatment and outcome. I was treated for an infection. When I returned to the practice to discuss what could be done I was given a repetitive pat answer that they always do their best to meet the patients' needs or similar. This was repeated with each question and statement. If you know Lauren Cowell PA-C schedule with her. Otherwise go somewhere else.

Instead of answering my question the voice message that was left informed me to call their voicemail number again. They also will not schedule a six month follow up appointment if an annual referral will expire sometime before the appointment date. I have gone to the New Bern office for 3 years and my referral is renewed every year because of previous cancer. Patients are definitely not treated well by DACC. They are always super nice as I pay them....
