The Atlantic Beach Post Office was my local post office when I first moved to Jacksonville. I haven't been back there since roughly 2016. I was in the area and needed to mail a friends birthday gift. I walked in and was next in line. Woo hoo! It was lunchtime. Service was fast and friendly! I was happy to learn the postal workers were still getting paid during the government shut down. The worker named Anthony there is incredibly rude. I go there at least twice a week mailing packages out, and every time he's the one that helps me, he always find some issue or can't get the scanner to work or comes up with some excuse. But when I go to the worker next to him and try the same thing, there's never an issue and everything works just fine. Anthony also tells me every time I go up to him that I can just use the self service kiosk, making it clear he does not want to have to deal with me. He grabs packages out of my hand aggressively, and when I hold up my phone for him to scan my QR codes, he physically grabbed my hand roughly and yanked it towards him. I found this incredibly unprofessional and went off on him and walked out. The next time I came in, I went to the self service kiosk instead of going to the counter, as he suggested I do multiple times, and he actually walked out from behind to counter out to the lobby, came up to me and said "hey Katie!" So I guess he was bothered by our interaction to the point of going through the trouble to find out my name, and is trying to intimidate me or something. Just overall weird and unprofessional. I don't know if he's racist, sexist, or just hates everybody in general, but another customer did mention that his 18 year-old daughter came in there and Anthony was yelling spitting in her face and she felt threatened that he would get physically violent with her and left in tears. So I'm not the only woman he's been hostile to. I'm sure that incident was probably reported, but the post office is aware of him being an issue and refuses to do anything about it. So all that to say if you see this worker that goes by the name "Anthony", a larger male with short receding curly hair and freckles on his face, just be warned in advance. This is the worst post office I've ever dealt with. Earlier this year they left a notice saying they tried to deliver a package an no one was home. But we were home all day. When we went to the location we found out they never even put the item on the truck for delivery and were going to send it back. Now, trying to pick up a package that requires a signature and with the delivery slip signed, being told they won't give it to me because I dont have my husband's ID physically with me. I needed help with an error that USPS made to a change of address and he was quick to assume that the other party changed it wrong and did things incorrectly. If I could give this post office 0 reviews I would. I'm not to sure if businesses just doesnt care how their employees treat customers anymore but it's pretty pathetic how these employees talk to the customers. The guy I had was very unprofessional, did not speak BUT waved me over to him, when I got to the counter he just stared at me, didn't even ask what he could help me with. I finally just told him I needed an envelope to mail my item, he said go get one, then told me I needed to bring my package in all ready taped and ready to be mailed ( I had the print out of my return label, I just needed to purchase an envelope.) Didn't ask if there was anything else I needed, just punched it in the computer and stood there. he did not smile, acted so rude and more so I was bothering him for being there. USPS is NOT a government agency. It broke free from the federal government on July 1, 1971. 4 separate deliveries "Mis" delivered to other mailboxes between March 2024 and July 2024 on beach blvd. USPS really does not care. Also, the people that receive the packages don't care. they probably just throw it away. read more

Went into there to do an address change. You better make sure you bring a pen. The counters had no pens anywhere. Anyway, before I went I tried to change my address online. However, even though I had changed my mailing address through my bank. the USPS. com still had my old address as my current one. I had changed it with my bank 10 days ago. So I brought some old mail and three pieces of new mail with my new current address. The minority employee (A man with an earring) had a real attitude. I tried to tell him that I tried to do it online and would show him my old address. He did everything to provoke me further into an argument. He basically just didn't want to do his job. He refused to help me and handed me off to a white chic about 25 with dark hair. She accused me of being a scammer. Unbelieveable! They said they would call the police and tell them I was causing a disturbance. I told the two useless pieces of flesh I wasn't going anywhere. I requested a supervisor. She made sure the change of address was done. Although, she didn't want to see the USPS website on my phone showing my old address. Just a combative place all the way around. I've never had a bad experience here. Like many Post Offices expect a line during busy times- lunch time & during rush hour. I've never been there right when it opens so I can't speak to how busy it is at that time. Every employee I've dealt with was professional/friendly/helpful. I went to the postal office with a very important legal file that they weighed, placed postage on and gave me a receipt with tracking ID on 8/12 at 12:02 pm. It is now 4:53pm on 8/15 and the package is sitting at the post office I dropped it off at. It was never scanned or put in transit. I tried calling the entire day and no one ever answered. I shouldn't be forced to use Fedex or UPS for a paper document. Reported this and have a case number and anxiety level off the chart from all of this. It was supposed to be delivered today. This office has lost other mail of mine, but this was very important. I thought paying for postage at the post office and having them put a tracking ID on it was completely safe. Aside from the post office on Mayport base, this is the only other post office near my home. I usually have to go here due to the one on base being closed because of their odd hours. This post office is always packed, and takes usually around 20-30 minutes just to get up to the counter. The employees seem like they hate their jobs and aren't very friendly at all. There are a few exceptions though. I recently discovered that there is a kiosk when you walk in the building, where you can skip the line and mail your own packages/letters/ and buy stamps! I will now forever be using this kiosk, because it is so much easier than waiting in line. Also, it is open 24/7, need to send a package at midnight? You can if you use the kiosk! read more

Went in to "confirm" my ID for post office box. They were about as helpful as a hemorrhoid. Said I needed a bar code. Which I didn't have. They didn't mention how I needed to get it except to say they didn't receive training on online request. I made the request 3 1/2 weeks ago at this post office! He mentioned it was a customer service issue while he was Munching down on chips and scrolling through his phone while I am standing right in front of him asking him directly who do I need to contact to get this bar code. Useless. Didn't offer any assistance not even let me see what I can find out kinda thing either. Very frustrating when the staff are getting paid very well to have such little information. Suggest post office does a general over haul on staffing at this location! No smiles. No enthusiasm. No conscience apparently. I will only use this facility to pick up mail after hours. Once you have the opportunity to deal with an employee, you're actually in good shape at this USPS. However, the extremely long lines make the overall experience one of love and hate. NEED TO KNOW: The post office technically opens at 8am, BUT the service lobby doesn't open until 9am. And believe me, even if the line is 20 people deep they are not budging on their opening hours. So, you can only handle a fraction of mailing services before 9am. Like I said earlier, the employees here are indeed very helpful. I recommend staffing more reps on per shift, so the lines aren't detrimentally painful to one's patience! read more

It's a shame you can't leave negative star ratings. While I don't believe that the horribly inadequate service here is unique or specific to this post office branch, this facility is definitely the poster child for why the USPS loses money and sucks in general. I routinely receive mis-delivered mail that has been placed in my PO Box incorrectly. And if you must go inside and interact, plan on standing in line while one or two employees slowly work their way through the waiting customer line. And last week the only teller working kept explaining that she had no cash drawer and could only handle credit card customers or people with exact change. Really? God forbid trying to reach someone on the phone too. I truly believe they never answer. I've called several times over the last few years only to be left on hold for 30 minutes before I hang up in frustration or it's closing time. And I've never spoken to a human on an attempted phone call. The few employees I've become familiar with over the last 15 years are nice, normal people. But they clearly work in an environment and are part of a culture that's nothing like a for-profit business. The ideas of improving customer service, decreasing wait times, serving more customers & more quickly, are all obviously foreign to them. I use the Post Office for things that can't go FedEx. This post office is garbage. I am SO tired of the BS. They purposefully avoid picking up scheduled packages at this point. I requested a pick up for yesterday. They didn't pick up - the second time this has happened in less than a month. I opened a case for missed pick up and I left a note on the mailbox that the pick up was missed and to please pick it up. I literally taped it across the mailbox so they couldn't put new mail in without moving the note. The carrier shoved the new mail in and ignored the note and the package. This is something that is time sensitive and I work during the hours the post office is open. No one has called yet but the last time this happened a manager called and asked me to call back but just like always, you can let the phone ring for 30 minutes and no one will answer it anyway. I'm now waiting on talking to customer service. These people keep using the 'covid' excuse but it's no excuse at this point. It's been happening for over a year. read more

They only deserve zero stars. I had a package delivered and the tracking said that it was delivered to a parcel locker. I was left no key for the parcel locker and the mailman had no key for it and said I needed to call the post office. I called and of course no answer. I filed a report with USPS and they said they would have a resolution in about 2 business days. It is over a week later, no package, no phone call, no email, and the post man/woman couldn't care less. It's lame that they can't even leave me a key or let the post office know to leave a key with the next route driver so I can open it and get my package. The last time I checked, it was returned to sender, and of course the sender never received it. I guess apartments they just don't give a crap. read more
