Two days ago, I woke up to make myself a bowl of cereal only to realize that the carton of milk I had taken out of the fridge was warm. Upon further inspection, both my refrigerator and freezer had stopped cooling overnight. I found Jacky & Sons on Yelp and called him. I knew right from the start that Jacky was a pleasant person with a positive attitude. After describing my problem, he gave me a very reasonable estimate over the phone -- something that NONE of the many other appliance repair services I had contacted before him did. It's all part of the game that these other guys play. They charge you a $75 fee to "assess the problem" and then if you decide to use them (Why wouldn't you? You've already paid them $75.), they waive the fee and then hit you with a charge upwards of $200+ to do the repair. Jacky drove all the way from Brooklyn to my home in the Northeast Bronx. He arrived about 2 hours after I called him in his van with a mask on. He answered all of my questions; took his time to unscrew panels in the back and inside of the fridge and closely inspected everything. He found a part that needed to be replaced; he called it "the transmission" to put it in layman's terms. He had a replacement part in his van and installed it. The final charge was exactly the same as the awesomely reasonable price he gave me over the phone. No bait and switch! If you're looking for a no nonsense guy with a wonderful disposition who will give you excellent service for a great price, don't look any further. Jacky is your guy! Jacky came through! I have a 30+ year old A/C (my mom bought it at Sears back in the late 90s). It was blowing cold air up until September 2023. At the moment I just couldn't buy a new A/C which would have cost about $1400 at PC Richards or Best Buy. With a heat wave imminent I had to call for a repairs and keep my fingers crossed that this AC can give one more summer.... Jacky said he would come at 9AM and at 9AM my doorbell rang! Pros: He did answer my request for service on a Sunday afternoon. Came out at 8pm. I had 2 separate AC units. He fixed one. But for the other identical unit stated that the Nest may not be compatible, problem with wires, etc. Not enough power to send signal... Cons: He suggested my wiring was bad and need to rewire, break walls, etc. Bottomline, he doesn't know the Nest thermostat, but acted like he did and mansplained down to me like I was an idiot. I had another HVAC come the next day and fixed the problem in under 30 mins. The wires were merely loose. read more

Jacky within a few hours after we called came to our condo, diagnosed what was wrong with our outside AC unit which was blowing warm instead of cold dry air. First, he checked the coolant level and circuit board. Then he cleaned the unit with a base solution and a high pressure spray gun to rinse out the corrosion and the 14 year old unit is working perfectly. He gave us advice about the circuit board and thermostat settings. He was professional, helpful, efficient, honest and the total cost of $200 was a fraction of what any big name company would have charged plus pressuring us to replace the system. I have an ancient central air system on my roof, we're talking about 40 years old. It conked out last summer and of course, I didn't take care of it all winter. First heat wave, I look for someone and see that several people mention that Jacky is "old school". Perfect! It took a couple of visits, and working with wires and whatever else was up there (plus a visit by an electrician to replace the circuits) but Jacky did his magic on a 90+ day on my roof and my old a/c has been working ever since. And it was clear that he now felt responsible for my unit and for making sure it worked and kept us cool. I won't call anyone but him now to coax another year or two out of that unit. read more

I wanted someone to look at my elderly mom's central air system to see if it needed maintenance in preparation for the upcoming hot weather. I called Jacky and Sons spoke with Jacky explained my situation and he agreed to do a consultation the next day. Even though he is located in Brooklyn he traveled all the way to my mom's house in Mt Vernon which is located in Westchester County the next day, evaluated her system(which is older meaning not new) and advised us what was needed. Once we agreed to have the repairs done, he did everything the same day. Cleaned the unit, installed a new thermostat, filled the unit up with freon, put in new filters and instructed my mom how to use the new thermostat. Hired Jacky to do a simple boiler drain valve replacement on a natural gas boiler. I usually do this work myself as it's not difficult but was injured at work and unable to change it. With that said Jacky didn't have the proper tools to remove drain valve, a hose long enough to drain the boiler, pipe dope to seal threads, basic plumbing items! Not to mention he didn't know and or understand my system ( 2 zone heating with another zone (basement) that gets heat only one of the 2 zones gets heat ). He drained the boiler but didn't know how to isolate the zones so I had to show him and shut off the main to avoid a complete removal of water from my house! Now to make matters worst in order for him to speed up the draining process to change out the boiler drain valve he opened the boiler pressure relief valve and damaged it with sediment. I bought this to Jacky's attention after I saw all the water on the floor and a constant drip from valve. He stated if it doesn't stop in 24 hours he will replace. Guess what the leak didn't stop and he didn't replace it. Jacky kept giving me excuses and also had the nerve to tell me that he ask 3 "master plumber's" who told him he didn't damaged it. At this point I DONT want him touching my system again and I suggest you think twice before you do. read more
