I had a new guy come look at everything and he noticed that the exhaust pipe wasn't even connected. Told me I could have died from carbon monoxide poisoning. He left me with no filter also and this new guy said that this brand new furnace would fall apart soon how it was set up. Do not work with this company it could actually affect your health. Wilfred is not proficient nor professional. My husband and I were at our daughter's apartment when he came to install the furnace and watched him do a terrible job with the installation. He left a mess and he said he would come back to install the filter which he never did. I am back at my daughters place and her furnace is not even 9 months old and needs to be replaced. The electrical main board doesn't work due to bad installation. He did not even connect the exhaust pipe and could have killed her with carbon monoxide. Found Wilfred through yelp with all his positive reviews. What a mistake. I needed my basement heating to be fixed since someone is staying down there and the whether was getting to the 20's. I scheduled Wilfred to come for the diagnostics. He said it was something with the switch fan, and that he can get the parts that same day and will give me a call. Great! He was very prompted to text me to make sure that I received the invoice. And then after that...NOTHING. I called him, left voicemails, texted him, with not a single response. I finally gave up. The only reason why I know he's still alive is that he actually responded to an angry text I send him, giving him a piece of my mind. Thanks for wasting my f#$king time, energy and $175 diagnostics fee! Fyi, I contacted another much more reliable company. Worse I've ever dealt with in my life, my boiler wasn't working and I got Wilfred's number from a buddy of mine. They charge a diagnosis fees, which is fine but the guy couldn't resolve the problem and created a mess. He doesn't know what he is doing and kept replacing parts that wasn't needed. Update 11/8/18 In September, I decided to get an early start on boiler tune-up, so I called Wilfred and got squared away for the season. That gave me one less thing to worry about! This week, I encountered water on my basement floor that I traced back to my boiler room (hot water heater). It was already over 10 years old, so it didn't come as a complete surprise. Anyway, I called Wilfred and again he came out right away to begin work on assessing the problem, then tracking down two new HWHs (I figured since they were both the same age, may as well spare myself an inevitable future headache) and installing them for me. The work actually took two days because of the late discovery on my part and because his blowtorch died between installs (the stores had already closed by now), but he and his crew would have stayed and finished everything late into that night if they could have. Once again, I got fast service for a reasonable price. There are some things I would say were annoyances (like tidiness, for example), but not enough to go elsewhere. My AC went out on a Thursday night, and I called APH&C Friday morning on a recommendation from a neighbor. I was informed he would be by around 4pm to take a look. By 5pm I had AC again!!! The next morning he even checked in to make sure everything was still A-OK. Now that is customer service! Wilfred, the owner, was very friendly and clearly knew his sh*t, as he was quickly able to isolate the problem and resolve it. Very reasonable pricing and solid A+ service. I am going to have him come back soon for general cleaning and maintenance of the units, which I am going to make an annual (if not biannual) occurrence. Couldn't recommend higher. Below is an update based on my experience with Wilfred 2 years ago with a mini split AC install. I resisted posting this negative review but after reading a few of the other reviewers' experiences I decided that others should be cautioned to stay away. I must preface my review by saying that I gave Wilfred a fair chance to correct the glaring problems with my mini split install, and that his attitude was pleasant for the most part throughout the process. With that said, steer clear of using Wilfred as an HVAC installer. I wish I had heeded the warnings of other 1 star reviews more carefully as my experience ended up similarly. He speaks confidently about HVAC, but after going through a complete reinstall, it is clear that he lacks the competency. DO NOT make the same mistake I did. After making good on a previous water heater install, which actually took 4 attempts to fix because of a gas leak, I decided to give Wilfred another shot. He said this was his main expertise and that I was going to be beyond happy with the end result. He originally estimated that the install would take 2 days to install 4 air handler units in 2 apartments. I would later realize that this would be a gross underestimate. Things started off well, as he brought 4 additional workers to kick off the job. I realized soon that none of them were fully trained with HVAC install and were little more than an extra set of hands. One of them was relegated to sitting in the parked car all day to avoid a parking ticket. Another spent an entire day just washing the walls from the marks he left the day before. This continued over the course of a month, regularly showing up several hours late to our appointments. The project was delayed a full week after Wilfred said that he needed to source a licensed electrician. This after the realization that he would be incapable of doing the work himself. After he found an electrician, he strung me along for an entire day waiting for him to come down and never showed. He also said that the electrician would cost me an extra $750 for labor and materials to run the electrical for the units. I reluctantly agreed and shelled out the extra cost to try and get the job completed. During this entire time, I have tenants that live in the apartments that are getting angrier and more impatient by the day. After finally running the electrical lines to power the units, he was able to get 1 apartment up and running. I breathed a sigh of relief as I was under a lot of pressure to get the heat operational for the tenants. Unfortunately, the other apartment was not working and needed to be troubleshooted. Wilfred claimed that the pressure in the refrigerant lines was to blame and came 3 more times to try and fix it. The last straw for me was when he filled the refrigerant lines, and the heat stopped working after about half an hour. During the visit, he said he was going to run down to the supply shop to get channel pieces to cover up the exposed pipes inside the apartment. Suffice it to say, he never came back; leaving me to switch the electrical line back over to the old heating unit that he improperly split off of to power the new system.  I inevitably had to bite the bullet and hire new contractors to finish the install. They recommended a full reinstall, since they could not properly diagnose the problem without taking out all the old lines. When they started to take apart the lines, that was when we saw Wilfred's handy work. He had used scrap copper pieces that he welded together every 3 to 4 feet in order to keep costs down. As a result, there were a ton of leaks. The condensation hoses to carry out the water when the AC was running weren't even hooked up. I was told that in the event they did turn on, that water would've sprayed all over the walls. The electrical lines were not installed to code and I incurred the cost of running them all over again. He even hooked the hose lines to the units in the wrong order, which caused errors to constantly trigger on the handlers. Luckily, the new installers were able to remediate all the problems with Wilfred's install in 5 days (and they worked over the weekend). However, this was not after spending over twice the original invoice amount. At the end of the day, I am happy that I got the right people on the job. Save yourselves a lot of trouble, and avoid Wilfred. You will be much happier spending a little more money and getting a real professional. read more

I highly recommend this service. My furnace stopped providing heat late on a Friday. I called Alexanders at 4pm, Wilfred was at my home within an hour and quickly identified the defective part. Within another hour, he procured the part from a supplier, went out to pick it up, and returned to make the installation. I chose to hire this company because of the "reviews" and quickly realized I made a HUGE mistake. Please beware of this company, especially if your a woman who don't know much about heating, parts, etc. You will be taken advantage of. Wilfred called me after I inquired about needing someone to get my tenants heat up and running for the winter. He was very cordial on the phone. He told me that I would be charged a diagnostic fee of $150 to access any issues and that if it was easy to fix that I wouldn't be charged much more. He showed up to my house and told me that the main issue was that the emergency switches were on and that all he needed to do was turn them off. He also said one of the pilot lights for my boiler wasn't working properly, it wasn't holding the fire so the thermocouple need to be replaced. He said it would be an additional $85 for the thermocouple and an additional 110 to replace it. I quickly agreed because my tenants had been complaining and I wanted get the work done. He said he needed to purchase the part and then go back to replace it. Minutes later I got a text that the work was done and he was sending an invoice. I asked him to send me a receipt for the part so that I can show it to my husband. He then said he didn't purchase the part he already had one. My husband looked up the part online and the price for a thermocouple range between $8-$11. I asked him why would he charge me $85 for a $8 part and he said because he gets his parts out of town! So essentially he expected me to pay $400 for replace something that cost $8. I told him how unfair that was and thats when he began to insult me. He said obviously I am having financially issues, thats why I am asking him about his prices. That he didn't have to get out of bed for this. He told me to lose his number and that he doesn't want my business. 2 hours later my tenants began to call me again! Of course, they are still without heat and I have basically paid for nothing. Editing: based on the business owners response below. Yes I did pay one diagnostic fee. I told him that I had a 2 family house and wanted to get the heat up and running in both apartments. He never asked for 2 diagnostic fees. He said everything was good except of the one piece that needs to be replaced. He left the home saying everything is fired up and good to go. He never mentioned any of the detail below, which further proves my point. He likes to present himself in a certain way but isn't truly a professional. Yes I did not pay anything extra because the work was NOT done. Why would I pay you for a problem that you claim you fixed but my tenant is still not receiving heat? Why would you leave a job and tell the home owner it's done and it's not? Why would you charge someone 10 times more than what really cost? I Never argued, I simply asked a question. I guess you are used to making up prices and people are so desperate that they just pay it. And yes, I know my tenants have children, that why I called you for your service. I contacted, made an appointment and paid a consulting fee of $200 Wilfred Alexander from Alexander's Proficient Heating & Cooling , 941 Washington Avenue, APT 1E , Brooklyn, N.Y. 11225 to come out on 7/6/20 to give me an estimate on the number of split ac units needed and the amount of the necessary BTU's for the square footage of my house. 7/7/20 - After the consultation I decided to proceed with the installation of five units and two compressors as informed. Before signing the contract I requested to see his license, he said "As a HVAC Contractor in New York we are not required to have it, but yes I do have one I'm licensed specifically by EPA and texted me his Technician Certificate card." he also stated "He has PM Tech and 410 Licenses the one he texted me was universal and he worked on all HVAC equipment." 7/8/20 - Alexander required a 73% deposit fee of $7,686.90 before starting the work so that he could get the ac units and materials needed to do the job. On 7/8/20 Alexander took pictures of units and sent it to me and my husband via text message. 7/9/20 - Alexander's worked commenced of him boring cantaloupe size holes in my house for wiring purposes which were never sealed closed. It took him approximately three days to install all units but he finally finished, I tried to pay him the balance of $2,643.00 via Zelle and Cash App but the payments wouldn't go through, so he decided to use one of the guy's he was working with cash app account. All five units were working and produced cool air, then not even a full 24 hours later the four of the five units stopped producing cool air and started producing fan air and leaking water. I called Alex immediately and told him of the issues. "He said turn off the units by circuit breaker, wait 15 minutes, then turn them back on that did not work so, Alex said he would come out on 7/13/20 around 10;00am to resolve the issue. 7/11/20 - My husband texted and reminded him of the 7/13/20 appointment and not to forget the ladder to put covers, we bought, on the wires protruding on the side of the house. 7/13/20 - Never showed up. 7/14/20 - Alex contacted us to reschedule due to a medical emergency regarding his daughter. He said he would come on 7 /16/20. 7/16/20 - Texted him what happened still waiting for you to show up. He texted sorry cannot talk right now I will call in a second. Never called back. 7/17/20 - Texted him when are you coming to fix the leak, texted again I need ac fixed call when you can. We are going to have a heatwave. No response. 7/17/20 - Had daughter place 3-way call surprisingly he answered he said he would come 7/21/20 at 11:00 am 7/21/20 - Texted Alex hope to see you at 11:00 am. Never showed up. Texted him It is after 11:00am I would appreciate if you would let me know what time you are coming over today. He responded I over booked my appointments I will be there 7/22/20 between 11:00am-11:30am 7/22/20 - Alex showed up at 1pm to fix the leak he said we should not have any more problems. 7/24/20 - Problem was never fixed we still had issues of hot air coming out of four of five units. 7/26/20 - Texted Alex of same issues of hot air coming out of units. Promised to come out 7/29/20 or sooner to redo piping. 7/27/20 - Texted to ask that he come sooner than 7/29/20 due to heatwave. No response. 7/28/20 - He texted back I am booked for the next two days. 7/30/20 - Texted what time are coming on 7/31/20 and reminded him to bring proper equipment to mount cables. No response. 8/1/20 - Texted him wanting to know when he was coming to finish the job. No response. 8/2/20 - Emailed Alex I am still waiting or a response I have called you numerous times. No response. 8/2/20 - Called and left message. No call back. 8/3/20 - I posted a review on google maps "Before posing my experience, I'm going to let Alex fix whatever issues him and I have encountered." After calling all over Brooklyn, we finally found Wilfred who is knowledgeable about in-wall units and courteous to boot. Turns out some of my pain was self-inflicted...the unit needed annual servicing which I didn't realize, but Wilfred did about ten years' worth of overdue cleaning/maintenance in an hour or so. We had a difficult situation with the boiler on a home that we had just purchased. It had not been maintained in years or decades, and there were multiple overlapping problems that made diagnosis understandably difficult. Wilfred had to come back over multiple days, but his commitment to getting the boiler working perfectly was comforting. I wanted to give Wilfred two stars based on his overall drive and willingness to make you happy. Issue is that he took a job that was overwhelming for him and left me in a position that I would have to hire someone else to fix the issues. Wilfred was broke the moment I gave him the deposit and I had to continue to give him the remainder so he could afford the parts. By the time the job was done, I had paid more than the quoted amount and had to pay for a large part of the parts he was supposed to cover. The worst part of this experience is that I had to repair multiple leaks myself because he wouldn't respond and will now have to replace most of his work to be correct and/or to incorporate parts that he overlooked or didn't reccomend as he should.
