I have been coming here for like ever, back in haighschool. ( I feel old now)!!!! It is delicious and great prices. Not a place really to sit and eat, even though they do have a couple chairs by the window. Doesn't matter though, food is delicious. I get the gyro platter. It is definitely enough to share or save for later. The big baby is delicious. Shakes are good. I prefer take out than sitting in there. So good! No complaints. So this place has been around forever and it's hard to find a REAL Greek gyros anymore... I have been going there since High school some years ago.. it hasn't changed a bit.. great food, good service and quality price. It can't be beat. My norms on the menu are: Gyros plate, pizza puff, hot dogs, big baby, mushrooms, shakes (chocolate and strawberry), shrimp dinner, polishes... Other then that I can not speak, but all that I named are great. You get over sized portions so beware of that. The place is usually busy, but they get you in and out very quickly.. Jacky's is all right. The hot dogs are average, the big baby is good, and the gyros is above average, fries are good too. One more note on the gyros, they have two spits of gyros running, which I consider a requirement if I going to have gyros from a place. This place was recommended to me by a friend during my trip to Chicago. For years she had raved about pizza puffs to me when she came to visit me in California. Finally I had the opportunity to try them at Jacky's. I really enjoyed every last bite. It's pretty much a pizza pocket, but made with love. We ordered the combo so it came with fries, which we upgraded to chili cheese fries. The staff was nice and friendly. The only problem is the space is really small and had limited seating. It got really crowded when I was there, so part of the people I went to have lunch with, had to eat standing up. I would def return next time and just take it to go. read more

I grew up just a few blocks from Jacky's and it was a weekly take-out dinner for my family. Despite a large, complicated order (there were 7 people, each with very distinct requests), the staff NEVER got an order wrong. Never! I've been gone from the area for over 20 years but on a recent visit near Chicago's Midway Airport, I made it a point to eat at Jacky's for a walk down memory lane. And it did not disappoint! I was in heaven sitting on the orange stools, enjoying my Big Baby and Fries, gazing out the window onto Pulaski Road and remembering my youth. The inside and outside of the building were exactly like I remember it. And the food smelled and tasted just like it did two decades ago. While the staff and the prices have changed, everything else was a throwback to my childhood. I am so grateful for the opportunity to return to Jacky's and enjoy their good food and excellent service. My family and I have been going to Jacky's for close to 40 years. My earliest memories of Jacky's are spinning around on the stools at the end of the counter, watching the orange fountain drink and gyros. Having recently moved back into the area, I was excited to bring friends to Jacky's who visit. None have ever heard of or had the pleasure of Jacky's. The hotdog's are a must, the big baby is the local word of mouth "it item" on the menu. The big baby is two thin hamburger patties grilled to perfection, merged and joined together by a couple of pieces of cheese, then placed on a grilled bun with mustard, ketchup and pickle. (Add some chili you can thank me later). The gyros are eye catching when walking in and the aroma will spike your curiosity and nose/stomach, do yourself s favor and indulge. As a bonus the fries are great. They've evolved a little over the years and are currently shoestring ala McDonalds. Now let's be real McDonald's does have some damn good fries, Jacky's are better. For comfort food (hangovers, bad day at work) Jacky's has a remedy for all. A true south side institution. I swear I see the same owners / employees, here too after all these years. My sister has been living in the neighborhood for awhile and that's how long we've been coming here. It's a family owned joint with very friendly employees. The cashiers look & act a bit rough but they aren't at all, and they cooks are really nice guys. I am always impressed with how impeccable their memory is when placing HUGE orders. Usually around Bears season my family and I are regulars, and we come in with a long list of yummy items to order. They usually ring you up after you receive your food, and they read the order back to you. We have always received exactly what we've ordered. With ingredients like a sesame seed bun, two 1/6th patties, ketchup, mustard, caramalized onions, and cheese its nothing spectacular, but they all go together well enough to make one tasty meal. For a relatively cheap price, this burger is a great deal and hands down delicious. The meat is tender and relatively marbled to create good patties and the onions are well prepared/caramelized. The fries that come with it might have been more covering than potato, but they were nice and crunchy and I enjoyed them. (The five stars are for the burger though.) This is the place to go for anyone in the area looking for a tasty burger! I tried the Vienna beef hot dog recently, I wasn't impressed. Something about it made it taste rather average.
