I've been coming to Jacky's Hot Dogs since I was in high school. This place hasn't lost its touch. I went with the Polish sausage, juicy, packed with that classic Vienna sausage flavor that just hits right. Nothing fancy, nothing overdone, just solid flavor and that perfect bite when you sink your teeth into it. Jacky's is always busy, the environment of the this place still same from what I can remember and they still move fast. From the moment you walk in to when you're walking out with food in hand, it's about five minutes. That's one of the things I've always loved, they respect your time but never rush the quality. Almost everything comes with fries and they give a LOT. They taste like McDonald's fries! I got my dog maxwell style and it comes loaded with the toppings. Be aware that they charge a 3% credit card surcharge on all transactions. I ended up paying in cash as a result. I have been coming here for the better part of 3 years and the food has never disappointed me. If you like the McDonald's fries then you will fall in love with these fries. Completely identical to them, aside from being cheaper and a much bigger quantity, they are crispy and much more fresher! The ambience of this establishment is great, eat at your own pace and you aren't rushed to get out unlike other small restaurants. The staff are very respectful and so are the customers that come through the door. Overall amazing experience every time I come here. HOWEVER, the one thing I absolutely don't like is the amount of people that don't come here. Please do not change a thing here! Forget about delivery because your price point does not warrant delivery. Over the years, some of the faces here remained the same but over the past few years there have been some new ones. However, the consistent has been their Big Baby's and RC products! What is a Big Baby? Two patties, grilled onions, mustard, ketchup and some pickles wrapped in a wax paper for that awesome steamed taste served on an S. Rosen seeded bun. Hot damn that Big Baby is amazing and get those grilled onions! The hot dogs are eh as nothing special here. I think the miss might be using non Vienna Hot dogs or maybe the bun. I'm not sure but it's been a miss for a long time. For as long as I've gone here they have always had RC products. I like it but I don't but you know what? How often do you seen RC Products served Fountain style? Exactly. They have a parking lot but nowadays - no dine in - carry out only but that's ok! My only beef with this place is their napkins. They have been the same thin ass napkins where you need at least 20 to go through a meal. Jackys Fries are the best fries, hands down! Perfectly formed fries are thin and perfectly crispy but also steaming hot. My hubs grew up in the area and everytime I allow him to eat fast food, the choice is always Jackys. They are slingin' quality food, every single time. My husband is a big fan of the polish and fries but has tried thier whole menu. My son is a big fan if the chicken nuggets. I am a big fan for their hamburger - all accompanied with their PERFECT FRIES. The burger, my fan favorite, is always cooked to perfection with whatever toppings I feel like at the time. The polish dogs have that great snap to them as well. The prices are totally a godsend and they are keeping things breezy by being affordable. Perhaps it's the memories, perhaps it's the awesome rolling chairs facing out into Pulaski. All I know is that Jacky's is the absolute best for hot dogs and shakes. My parents were cheap, like ultra cheap to the point where each of us four children literally were only allowed to split a hot dog. It was the thriftiest, after all. Rosa J.'s best Yelp companion (other than Daddy J.) is the hole-in-the-wall neighborhood hot dog joints. Trust me, it's one of the ways to get to know a neighborhood. Jacky's Hot Dog is located on S. Pulaski (between 54th. and 55th.) in the West Lawn neighborhood. It's not a difficult walk if you're on the way to the Midway Airport (near CTA Pulaski Orange Line Station) and want to have your last meal before getting into the pseudo-capitalistic airport food court. We rode #55 (55th./Garfield) bus and got off at Pulaski. There are mostly takeout customers. Yet if you have time for your own, there are high-stools along the wall and the kitchen counter. Oh by the way, two (2) CPD officers were here as well. Jacky's is definitely police-approved, in my opinion. Everything is made-to-order, so wouldn't be super-sonic fast. Their "Big Baby" (double-cheese burger) was satisfying. That burger wasn't physically large, but it certainly filled me up like nobody's business. Their hot dog combo was solid as well. For $8 and some change (cash preferred), we had no complaints. On a side note, I wish the guy who handled the hot dog station could wear a pair of gloves. I took a close peek at his hands; they appeared to be clean and dirt-free. I wasn't personally concerned since I consider my body as germ-resistant, for I frequent all kinds of places in the city.
