My wife won a Talley Box through work. Very easy to redeem. Called up, gave our gift certificate…read morenumber and then was told we were on the list. Our pickup was downtown Atown, Lemos. I was greeted and told to sign the clipboard and grab a box. Super Easy. When I arrived home I found mostly local, beautiful produce. Everything was in great shape! I had to have one of these huge strawberries and they were great! Intense Strawberry Flavor! Super juicy and super delicious. I had some of the broccoli and it also was great. Great fresh, snap, and deep broccoli taste. I saw online the box cost $52 and if you go to a store, you'll see that's a deal. Wonderful for families and even single people who don't have time. Great Product! *On a personal note, I wish they had it totally customizable. I personally don't want any GMO produce, none* *The Grover Beach Strawberries (in a package), Leeks, Snap Peas, Lettuce and Broccoli had no NonGmo and no organic Labeling*

I wanted to wait several deliveries before reviewing these fabulous peeps!! So For my health and my…read moresons health we have started eating much more healthy inherited high cholesterol is a bitch!!! So changing up my entire diet was something i had no choice over i'm 100% positive the keto diet I was on nearly killed me. Actually keto made my cholesterol rise by over 100 points!! It helped my stomach issues but screwed my health and my cholesterol up to a dangerously high level. So bad that i felt sick all the time I was on Keto for over 9 months. So i turned my diet around to be based on fresh veggies, fruits lean protein and whole grains with healthy fats and lower carb. This delivery program they have has helped make the change painless because of the exceptional quality and variety. Local grocers here where i live mostly sell crap! It looks good but tastes bad and expensive for the small quantities you get. And truthfully has been sitting in storage for quite some time. I came across Talley farms by accident i was looking for a better provider besides Imperfect foods. Their quality and prices are insane now and not worth what they are charging and a lot of their produce is imported from mexico and other countries a lot of the time which is a no no we live in the Ag hub of the country! So when i found Talley i loved that they only have local produce, Fresh picked, organic and in season! And i must say my god the difference in taste of farm fresh produce cannot be compared to store bought!! Even with something as simple as grapes right off the vine GASM!! Gorgeous fruits and veggies from this awesome group of farms!! They are the sweetest people!! They respond quickly to your emails and every delivery is correct! They send recipes and ideas for what your box will contain every week which i Love!! You can also replace things you don't want with other items or extra of something. You can also add additional in season fruits, veggies herbs etc from the available list in your email. I needed extra lettuces for my guinea pigs one week and she graciously replaced my cauliflower with tons of beautiful red little gem lettuces!!! I know most people don't get excited about produce but i'm telling you when i open my boxes from them i'm excited as hell Lol!! I am gushing about them because i truly believe they've got something great here and i'm so thankful i found out about them! We all need to clean our diets up to feel better and live longer and they help make it easier. I still have my luscious cheat meals occasionally but honestly the changes i've made has helped me feel so much better health wise and i know i'll be here longer for my sons ;) Talley farms Rocks!!!

I wish I'd read the plethora of negative reviews before buying chicks from this farm. It would have…read moresaved me from a total nightmare. I paid $50-$60 per bird for 5 chickens from Dare 2 Dream Farms because I believed I was buying healthy, responsibly raised animals from a higher-standard, "organic" operation. What arrived was the opposite. The transport box itself already contained bloody stool. Before the birds were even out, there was visible evidence of serious illness. Once inside, it became clear how severe it was. These chickens were emaciated to the point of feeling skeletal, weak, huddling, and not drinking. Within hours they were deteriorating and continuing to pass blood. This was not stress. These were critically ill animals on arrival. For comparison, I also bought 3 new chicks from a different source the day before (costing ~$20 per bird). Those birds were active, chirping, eating, and thriving immediately. The contrast was stark. An independent poultry specialist confirmed what was evident: these birds were severely compromised and had been for some time. This condition does not develop during transport. Beyond the condition of the birds themselves, this created a serious biosecurity risk. I have an established, healthy, happy flock of 13 hens and 3 chicks. Introducing visibly sick birds -- with active bloody stool -- put my entire flock at risk of infection. I had to immediately isolate, treat, and manage the situation as a potential contamination event, spending the next 9 days in intensive, around-the-clock care trying to keep the new birds alive while protecting the rest of my flock. Nightmare and ethical dilemma. The response from the farm made the situation worse. The condition was initially minimized as "normal", then explanations shifted. At the same time, I was repeatedly encouraged to return the birds. I refused. Given their state, I believe they would have died if they had been sent back. They required constant intervention just to stabilize. A partial "goodwill" refund was offered while I was actively managing a severe medical situation, then a full refund was made contingent on returning the birds, and ultimately any refund was revoked. To be clear: 1. Premium price charged for supposedly high-quality birds 2. Birds arrived visibly sick, emaciated, and passing blood 3. Biohazard risk introduced to a healthy flock 4. Condition minimized rather than addressed 5. Pressure to return animals in critical condition 6. Refund offered, then withdrawn This is not a minor issue or bad luck. This is a failure of basic animal welfare and responsible husbandry. I cannot recommend this farm under any circumstances.

I've been an SGO subscriber for about 6 months and I love this organic produce service. I pick up…read moremy box on Wednesdays next to Lighthouse Coffee on the Mesa. I get the regular box with an add-on bag of mushrooms and every other week, a dozen eggs. There's kale almost weekly, which is the one veggie I don't really like, but it's still working for me. My neighbor, the vegan, loves kale and so every week, I redirect the kale to the vegan. In return, the vegan keeps gifting me wonderful things that she's growing, like passionfruit and celery. Yesterday, it was Santa Rosa plums! So, while I can't stand kale, it's still working for me to have it in the box!!! It's summer as I write and the SGO tomatoes have been spectacular. Tomatoes are my marooned-on-an-island food, and being from the south, I'm picky about my tomatoes. This week, there were 3 big yellow heirlooms in the box, which is perfect for my gerdy husband and his need for low-acid produce. In addition, there were about 25 medium to giant cherry tomatoes that were the sweetest, juiciest mouth-sized morsels ever. No salt needed. Hubby and I have been snacking on them straight outta the bowl for 2 days. Other notables in this week's organic box were beautiful broccoli, red leaf lettuce, onions, 3 gorgeous deep red peppers, 2 cukes, carrots, and a nice supply of sweet, juicy strawberries. I have to mention how wonderful it is to have unusual fresh mushrooms each week. I used to buy portobellos weekly, but now I'm using shitakes, maitakes, oysters, lion's mane, and other cool varieties in our soup. And come spring, I can't wait for a weekly stash of chanterelles to arrive again! It's also super easy to manage the SGO orders online. I've been out of town a few times since subscribing and it has been super easiy to login and stop my order for a week. And if you can't figure it out, it's easy to email Carolyn, who is incredibly responsivle and makes communication a breeze. Another thing I love about this service is that Carolyn writes a weekly blog about how things are going/growing at the Givens Farm. It was interesting, for example, to read about how the rains this year affected the strawberries and other produce. In the blog, she lists what each week's box will include, so you can be thinking ahead about what you're going to do with a spaghetti squash, leeks, fennel, or yams. Carolyn typically throws in a recipe with each blog for something in the box. I hope to be able to subscribe to SGO for a long time. Hubby and I are surely enjoying their combination of delicious organic produce and world-class service each week.

Taking Covid-19 very seriously, I've been isolating for most of the year and only getting groceries by delivery or from friends willing to pick things up while they shop. A few weeks ago, I started receiving once-weekly deliveries from the Farmstand. Wednesdays during Farmstand hours, I get a bag full of goodies and so far, so great. I love knowing that my seasonal produce is grown locally and organically. All of the items have been fresh and delicious, from a punnet of the sweetest, most sun-kissed yellow cherry tomatoes to heads of lettuce, zucchini and squash, and bunches of rainbow chard (so good sautéed with garlic!) I don't choose what's in my produce bags, but I've been very satisfied with the diverse selections. The assortment is $20 each and seems to be curated differently by the week. There's more info about the Farmstand, Covid-safe shopping, and pickup and delivery on the website. Thanks Farmstand, for keeping me cooking with tasty, newly-harvested local fruits and veggies during the pandemic.

    * A lovely oasis! *…read more I first heard of this place in a documentary that I saw in Vancouver a while back. When I saw the film I knew I wanted to see the farm itself. This farm has been around since 1895, and claims to be the oldest organic farm in Southern California. It clearly is the last bit of farming left in an area that has become incredibly suburban. What an oasis! On their little parcel of land (about 12 acres) the have an incredible variety of fruits and vegetables - at least a hundred or so - including some rather unique heirloom varieties. There is a decent sized produce stand with a beautiful selection of organic fruits and veggies, and some very friendly helpful staff behind the counter to answer any questions about the products or the farm itself. If you wander past the stand onto the actual farm you can take a free self-guided tour that is really nicely set up. We wandered through the fields and found little signs every now and then telling you something interesting about organic produce, what you were looking at, or my favourite which described the difference between free range chickens and other kinds. (Those chickens running around providing natural fertilizer were fun to watch as well - they travel in packs!) This spot really makes for a wonderful afternoon of wandering around and getting back to the earth. And the carrots we got were the sweetest carrots I have had in a long LONG time! Delicious!
